Jason Rodriguez is a CSI with a checkered past, struggling to live an honest life on the side of the angels. Literally. Jason is more than just a CSI, he's also a Mage. His magical powers are put to the test when he discovers that Paul Dunn, the city's most decorated officer, is actually a psychopathic Death Mage, 'solving' crimes by framing others for the murders he commits.
Not sure why I thought this was a m/m book - no mention of sexuality at all, maybe it was the sexy cover that drew me in. But regardless of why I bought it, I feel like I was just plunked into the middle of a story that was moving too fast, one that I had no idea what was really going on. I think it would have had more potential if it was longer and more drawn out.
Loved this story of Jason Rodriguez, a crime scene tech who is also a Keller. From this short story I was able to piece together that is a person who has some form of elemental magic and the ability to absorb the emotions/memory of people and objects. This was read as a stand alone story, but I hope he continues this. Read this story in 20 minutes and I know he has more to tell.
Not your typical paranormal...vivid imagry makes this story stand out. Try to picture a guy on a motorcycle dragging his wings on the pavement. Yep, you can almost see the feathers turning black. That's how clearly this whole story is written.
