I found this a very clear-eyed introduction to meditating using mantras. It begins with a short but vital introduction to the basic structure of Hindi Buddhism from which this tradition stems, what mantras are used for, and what the traditional aims of mantra meditation practice are. It then follows with a systematic approach to beginning a meditation practice with mantras, guided by a specific goal from your practice, and provides a series of mantras applicable to goals based around the four aims of practice. Finally the book lists the mantras themselves. The book includes a CD, but the ebook does not include the audio, so I am going to buy one of Ashley-Farrand's related audiobooks on Audible with the mantras on them, as it is important to say them correctly.
