Kelly Ann has only just come to her senses and realised that G, the boy she's fancied all year, is a total nerd and Chris, the boy next door who's been in love with her all year, is actually the man for her. But does that mean she'll live happily ever after with Chris, discovering the joys of sex and smugly advising her friends in the ways of true love? Of course not. With the help of her faithful friends Liz and Steph, Kelly Ann manages to muck it all up and finds that the path of true love never runs smoothly! Can her relationship with Chris survive being found by his parents semiclothed in their living room on the day of his surprise birthday party? Or her wild girls' holiday to the domain of the holiday rep, Faliraki? Can Kelly Ann get through all these crises and manage to singlehandedly look after her sister's baby and the fake baby school have given her as a project too? This work is a hilarious riot of teenage fumblings, terrible teachers and skincare made from porri! dge. More embarrassingly funny revelations from the new queen of teen-lit!
My name is Liz Rettig and I am an author. Luckily I had an unhappy childhood, an angst ridden adolescence, and my adult years have been characterised by an almost unremitting catalogue of failures. The ideal background then to nurture an author's talent. I write funny romantic novels mainly for teens but loads of adults read them so they can look back and laugh (or cringe). You can find out more about me and my books plus read some fun stuff about dating, love and writing on my website http://www.lizrettig.com
Well this was just terrible. Such a shame after a good first book, I guess the second-book-in-a-series-syndrome strikes again. :(
I was all looking forward to continuing Kelly Ann's diaries, and after the previous book, I was looking forward to the romance between Chris and Kelly Ann. I still didn't really see the chemistry, so I was hoping I would spot it in this one.
Sadly, instead of romance and cuteness, I get mostly a crap pile of nonsense. Well, OK to be honest there was some romance between the two in the beginning, but that went downhill.. Mostly to do with Kelly Ann's lesser than 1 IQ brain. And sure, Chris isn't really helping by keeping mum and acting all shady about Linda. :| But yeah, most of the stuff happening in this book is all Kelly Ann and her stupid jealousy. And her believing the girl who hated her in the previous book. Everyone is warning her about Shelly, but Kelly Ann acts like everyone is just childish, she can forgive people. Um... I am sure even a blind person would be able to get that Shelly is trying to undermine your relationship with the crap she pulls. :|
So yeah, this whole book is a frustrating mess of Kelly Ann and Chris fighting on and off, Kelly Ann even hitting him, and several more things. I was just rolling my eyes at a steady pace, and I even have thought of dropping the book because it was just too terrible and dumb.
I was actually hoping Alan and Kelly Ann would hit off and she would forget about Chris.. but oh no. I could have guessed what ending the author wanted to write. :| Alan was such a sweetheart and I loved how sweet he was with Kelly Ann, how he stayed calm and composed when he met Chris. Yep, he deserves a sweet girl.
Chris? Well, I didn't quite like him in the previous book (just didn't see the charm), but I disliked him even further in this book. Yes, I also felt sorry for him, but then again maybe he should have been honest with Kelly Ann. Saying to your girlfriend you don't want to meet up because it would distract from exams, but then being spotted hugging your ex... And that Kelly Ann sees you have been seeing your ex for days while Kelly Ann wasn't allowed to come... Dude, just no. Also instead of telling her what was going on she had to hear what was going on with Linda from someone else. Not to mention his aggression and anger issues. Or his controlling issues. It just got too far in the NOPE NOPE, this is the kind of guy people warn you about territory.
I liked reading about Kelly Ann's mates the most. They were pretty fun, and both had interesting things going on in their lives.
Oh, and I was pissed at Kelly Ann's parents and also Angela. I understand what Angela has, but really, she should have sought help immediately, instead of foisting the baby off to her little sister who is in the midst of exams and other stuff. Same goes for the parents and how they didn't notice, and how in the end they even tried to have Kelly Ann still do a lot of work. Um, hello? This girl hasn't slept in weeks, and is annoying her friends because she has to take the baby with her.
I also got tired off the whole "I have to lose my virginity stuff." and then her constant "But it needs to be perfect."
So yeah, I hope the next book is better. *crosses fingers*
I re-read this book and the first as they were two of my favourite books from being a tween (looking back, maybe a bit too young to have been reading these books, and that may explain my love for them so much!!). Re-reading the first book felt a bit too much like a chore, but this book was completely the opposite. Reminded me of why I loved the first book (as I found out mid way through this, i must have never finished the second) in the first place. If you were reading the first and weren't sure whether to read the second then please do. Also: the 3rd book is a prequel, so if you haven't read any. Read that first ;-)
I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first Kelly Ann diary. There was as much humour and I still enjoyed the writing style but there was way too much teenage stupidity/poor decision making for the adult in me to relate to it. Given that I am not the target demographic, I guess that is to be expected.
Well there was a lot of drama and angst. Sadly Kelly Ann was not likeable in this one and the book was a let down. Sad because I usually enjoy teen diary books. I will still read the author's other books since I've read and enjoyed her past books.
School. Family. Boys. What do they all have in common? Well, if you're a teenager, you're probably familiar with it. It's called drama. Yes, it may be haunting your life, but chances are, it can't be any worse than that of Kelly Ann's.
Author Liz Rettig captures her audiences' attentions once again with her witty and dramatic character, Kelly Ann. Since her debut, Kelly Ann and her boyfriend/childhood playmate, Chris, are one hot item. However, things go haywire when Chris wants to take their relationship to the next level. Kelly Ann is not ready, especially after hearing that Chris may be the father of his ex-girlfriend's child. She feels like Chris cannot be trusted and that their romance must end.
Oh, and don't forget - on top of these relationship issues, Kelly Ann must deal with overprotective parents, an emotional sister, and the influence of friends. Talk about stress.
Chris and Kelly Ann's split sends the two in opposite directions. Chris moves into an apartment and studies medicine at Glasgow University. Kelly Ann stays back to complete a sixth year, as her exam scores weren't impressive. Both situations bring about new romances and lifestyles. What will the future hold for these lifelong friends who obviously still hold special places in each other's hearts?
MY NOW OR NEVER DIARY is hysterical. I was literally laughing out loud after just a few paragraphs. The text is conversational and the story hard to put down. If you've read any of the books in Louise Rennison's CONFESSIONS OF GEORGIA NICOLSON series, you are going to love this book and the three others starring Kelly Ann. But trust me on this - definitely make sure that you abide by the age recommendation!
"Please, Kelly Ann, please say yes. It´s now or never."
It was so much better than the first one, Its more hilarious and really outrages, but I don't recomend it for younger teens, pretty crazy.
Hmm is she going to continue with this series? I hope she does, considering how it ended. I really want to know, so if anybody knows anything message me PLEASE.
This book is sooooooo funny I kept on having to remember that i couldn't laugh hysterically on the bus because every body would stare at me and think i was crazy. But anyway it's about this Scottish girl (Kelly Anne) who can't trust her boyfriend (Chris)
I loved this book. during all the aventures; its funny dramatic and tipical. I Like the fact that its relistic and its nice to read something thats popular amongst teenagers other than books about vampires, werewolfs ect...Even though I love them type of books myself.
