Princess Ann of Middlemount is the last survivor of her royal household. Defeated by invading forces, her Wolfkind race faces extinction. Only a desperate quest can save her people, her god, and her world.
A stirring tale, unforgettable characters, non-Stop action, romance, and humor. This is a compelling and well told tale of valor, intrigue, and redemption.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “It is said that all evil stems from ignorance and ignorance can appear small until it strikes you in the eye.”
“The fully human are simultaneously haunted, burdened, and plagued. They are haunted by memories of the past, burdened with present demands, and plagued by their inability to control the future. To be human is to perpetually juggle the contending thoughts of what one should have done with what one is doing and what the unseen future may hold.”
Very interesting plot with engaging story. I love that we’re thrown right in from the beginning with the aftermath of war and Ann being the only one of her Wolfkind race left. The host of main characters are well written and experienced so much strength and growth throughout the story. The Old English language is so different from any fantasy I’ve read before which made the book so much more entertaining and also some great quotes throughout!🐺⚔️🌊

D.P. Benjamin’s Stone Bride is a novel that embraces the classic tropes of gothic romance and dark fantasy with a confident, modern hand, weaving a tale of ancestral curses, stony hearts, and the slow, perilous thaw of love in the face of impossible duty. It is a story built on atmosphere and internal conflict, where the most dramatic battles are fought not with swords, but within the gilded cages of tradition and the frozen chambers of a guarded heart.
The novel’s premise is its engine: a protagonist, often a young woman of noble birth or significant burden, bound by a cruel pact or familial debt to marry into a mysterious, cursed lineage.
Really neat read! I thought the book was well written. A nod to Christianity, like a Christian-Fiction more like than fantasy per se but overall a well book. I really enjoyed Ann's character. A little bit of a cliffhanger as a bit of a surprise towards the end there 😉 I wasn't aware this was a series but this was a pretty good starter!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Without giving to much of a spoiler,it was very interesting seeing a God so closely relating to his followers. I really enjoyed this take on a deity. If you are a fantasy lover this is a good book for you.
The writing is good from a technical standpoint, but I don't feel that the story is engaging for me. I'm eight chapters in and it's really a chore for me to read at this point. There are a lot of christian overtones that I wasn't anticipating from the brief blurb.
Overall, not my thing and I probably won't finish it, but I think there's definitely a niche out there for it.
