Cinderella's mouse friend Gus gives her a pretty bouquet of roses. Unfortunately, Cinderella gets in big trouble because he picked the flowers from Lady Tremaine's garden. Cinderella takes Gus into town to replace the rosebush, but she doesn't realize that it's the day of the village fair. In all of the excitement, Gus accidentally knocks over the giant cake made for the royal family! Luckily, Jaq, Luke, Perla, and the rest of the mice join in to help bake a delicious new desert. But will it taste as good as it looks?
Ellie O’Ryan loves chocolate almost as much as she loves writing books for kids. She is the author of more than 300 books for children and has a secret chocolate stash hidden in her office for late-night writing sessions. Ellie lives in North Carolina with her husband, two kids, three cats, and one dog.
This is a good children story. I liked the fact that it was different from the classic story of Cinderella. The story put a lot of emphasis on mice like Gus and Jaq. A little story that reads very well for both child and adult.

These books, movies, and everything in between are my whole summer vacation.
And reliving all of this feels like opening a long-forgotten storybook, its pages worn with time, its words whispering secrets of a world I once knew. It’s the scent of old paper, the warmth of a memory wrapped around my heart, the laughter of a younger me echoing between the lines. It’s the kind of magic that makes you ache and smile at the same time—like stepping into a dream you’ve already lived but never quite left behind.
Good chapter book for second grade girls. The vocabulary is adequate for children reading level 2 books. My 7 year old daughter really likes reading Disney-related theme books.
I'm sorry, I know I'm supposed to suspend disbelief, and just enjoy the story like it's a Disney movie, but I draw the line at using rodents to back cakes and then use those cakes to feed the general populace.
Please. Just don't.
Sigh.
OK, we're in the world of Cinderella (all I hear is Cinder-elly) and of course there's mice. And an evil cat. And well, you know the drill. And there's a new mouse in town who is a horrible klutz, with poor Cinderella trying to right all of his mistakes.
Seriously a good mousetrap would have solved a lot of problems here. Humane I mean. Catch and release, far far far away....sigh.
But the book is funny and easy to read and for a beginning reader who loves Disney, would probably find that whole scene of baking and decorating to be something that captures the imagination and fills them with delight.
I hate to say it, but I think I'm too old for this book.
Kirjan tapahtumat sijoittuvat siis limittäin Disneyn tunnetun Tuhkimo-elokuvan tapahtumiin. Osittain ristiriitaisia tapahtumia ja hahmokuvauksia. Lisäksi tarinassa mainitaan kuninkaallisten joukossa kuningatar - mutta eikös prinssin äiti ollut kuollut?
No, but this is actually so good? This series is fun and lighthearted and I do not care that this is not targeted toward my age group, I still love it.
First of all, I thoroughly enjoy Disney, even though there have been a lot of poor reviews in the media here recently. Disney is always full of hope and inspiration, no matter what the circumstances might be. Gender, disabilities, and anything else that might be used to "classify" someone in today's world hold no merit with typical Disney.
"The Great Mouse Mistake: Cinderella" is a cute tale about how Gus became apart of the 'rat (mouse) pack.' This little guy really made big trouble for this young woman on their first meeting. Through cutting Ms. Tremaine's rosebushes to pieces, to destroying the legendary cake for the royal family; this little guy had some pretty big messes to clean up.
Q1: Have you ever cut someone's flowers? A1: Yes, when I was a elementary student, on the way to go home, I often picked the flowers from someone's garden and ground. It is incredible now.
Q2: Have you ever been blamed in spite of being what another person did? A2: Yes, I am the firstborn daughter, so I was always blamed by my parents when I was a child. However, there is not such things now.
It is very easy for me to read, so this time I seem to be able to finish reading it. However, I read only half of this book. I will finish reading by next week!
My five year liked the story and thought it was good. Her favorite part was when they baked the cakes. I love that she sits and listens to chapter books, something she done since she was three.
I on the other hand, didn't like it at all. Part of that is probably because Cinderella is one of my least fave princesses. But also because Gus is definitely not high with the IQ points in the movie, yet he is sone kind of egg-collecting mastermind here. It was silly and boring and Disney can do way better.
This is another cute entry into the Disney princess series. It's actually a prequel: Cinderella still lives at home with her step-mother and has yet to meet the prince. The mice are all here from the film, and myriad creatures from the forest help her with her domestic chores to rectify the titular "mouse mistake," all of which reinforces feminine stereotypes a bit more than I'm comfortable with; however my daughter enjoyed it and is excited to start another in the series!

Q. Have you ever watched Cinderella in movie?
A.Yes, I have. Recently, I watched Cinderella in class.
It was so fun for me. When I watched this movie in class, I was intersted in Cinderella so I want to know more. It is a little defferent between a book and movie. I like Cinderella very much. so I wanna mary with woman like her.
I really like this book. The beginning is like the movie where Cinderella helps Gus out of a mouse trap. When Gus decides to get some roses for Cinderella, he doesn't know that they belong to Lady Tremaine. So Cinderella easily forgives him and isn't mad upset. She just went to replace them.
Checked this out from the library on the three-year-old Cinderella fanatic's request, but didn't read past the first chapter. I don't know if it's good or not, but it's definitely too old for my crew to sit through yet.
This book tells a story about Cinderella before she meets the Prince and her fairy godmother. The story turns around two problems: one about a rosebush, and the other about cakes. I wish it had more images and different adventures.
