I love this book with all my heart. Some books become outdated with time. Contemporary Orthodontics is not one of them.
This is one of those rare textbooks that teaches me something new every time I return to it. No matter how many times I reread it, I find another detail, another explanation, or another connection that makes me appreciate orthodontics even more.
The authors—and Dr. William Proffit in particular—have accomplished something extraordinary. To explain a complex field so clearly and elegantly, you first have to understand it completely. That depth of knowledge shines through on every page. The concepts are presented with remarkable clarity without ever oversimplifying the science.
What I admire most is that this book truly has something to offer every reader. Whether you’re a dental student taking your first steps in orthodontics or an experienced clinician refining your understanding, you’ll find valuable insights that improve the way you think about diagnosis and treatment.
I have nothing but respect for the immense work, knowledge, and dedication that went into creating this textbook. It has influenced generations of orthodontists, and I am deeply grateful that my own clinical practice stands on the shoulders of giants like Dr. Proffit and his co-authors.

Required reading for orthodontics class for dental training at University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Not sure what edition was out when I read it. It's dry, academic reading but necessary information for those in the dental field--at least at that time.

Probably the best orthodontic reference book out there. But only for an orthodontist. Otherwise, it might not make sense.
