A young girl arrives at a creative solution for peaceful coexistence with the creatures that enchant her but frustrate her father.
Elizabeth treasures the rabbits who dance on the lawn in front of her family's summer cabin. On hot, sleepless nights, she goes out and watches the magical, nocturnal scene of gentle rabbits frolicking in the grass to a chorus of night sounds. But the rabbits are eating the grass that her father has cared for all summer, and Elizabeth must come up with a solution to protect both the rabbits and her father's lawn.
Illustrator Michael Montgomery's stunning paintings beautifully reflect the elegant magic and mystery of author Lee Posey's touching story about a young girl's special relationship with the natural world.
In this book it shows you how a girl falls in love with the rabbits who come out at night to hop around her father's lawn. You can see how she falls in love with these rabbits and creates a bond with them. She tries to feed them around where they live so they wouldn't nibble on her father's lawn. She tries really hard to help her father. Her father can see how much she loves them and suggests to just let them stay here with them. They would be able to hop around the lawn as much as they want because they have been here as long as they have. I love how the father and the daughter bond over these rabbits. These rabbits brought them closer together and it's just the sweetest thing. I feel like this book can show children that you can bond over anything.

This book will allow children to see over the conflict. Children are small but have a bright mind. This is a book they can relate to as well. Maybe they will not be able to relate to the rabbits but to something else. This book will help teach self consciousness to the children. To know there is a problem but there are solutions one must just be able to handle them in a good way.
Night Rabbits is a cute little story about a girl’s relationship with the rabbits that come out to play in her yard at night.
Elizabeth loves the rabbits that play in the yard at night, and when she can’t sleep she always goes out to sleep on the porch hammock where she can watch them. However they are starting to eat the grass that her father tries so hard to take care of, and in order to keep the rabbits aroud she comes up with a solution so that both the rabbits and her father can stay happy.
The story itself is cute, but doesn’t have too much depth. The solution is more of a compromise on her father’s part than an actual solution, but it’s the thought that counts right? The art is what I loved the most though. Montgomery has painted some stunning pictures to go a long with the story, to me it’s what makes the story worth reading.
Overall it’s a cute book, but nothing I would go out of my way to recommend to a child (unless they love rabbits).
What an outstanding book for demonstrating strong similes. It's realistic fiction, a simple story, but so well told. So rich in clever description. I loved it. Beginning to end, this was great.
