The stars and planets have been a source of fascination since the dawn of time. Throughout the centuries, numerous observers have uncovered increasingly detailed information about the universe, and the quest to discover more about our Solar System and the worlds beyond continues. Astronomica combines the knowledge of astronomy experts with the very latest images to present an in-depth look at the universe and the celestial bodies that abound in the intriguing realm of the night sky.
This is a thorough survey of astronomy from the solar system to stars, galaxies, and the universe. It includes beautiful illustrations on each page and also has star charts and a reference page for each constellation. My version, which I bought at Borders when it was still in business, is called "All of Astronomy" but I couldn't find that title on Goodreads-apparently it is mainly under the title "Astronomica".
For someone such as myself, who is practically illiterate in matters pertaining to space, this book is an essential reference. Comprehensive, utterly beautiful, and - naturally - informative.
