Obsidian mirror meditation is an excellent way to secure my attention. The Toltec Legacy pairs that practice with lucid dreaming, placing both within a spiritual account of humanity’s passage into the Sixth Sun. There is plenty here to interest someone drawn to the relationship between consciousness and the world we experience. Rodriguez and Magaña’s premise also raises an appealing question about how personal transformation might contribute to a more harmonious collective life. That gives the work an ambition beyond the improvement of one’s private circumstances.
The prophetic framework is where my enthusiasm becomes more qualified. Announcing a new era places a considerable burden on a book, however compelling its practical material may be. I can entertain the Sixth Sun as a spiritual understanding of change while remaining uncertain about its explanatory reach. The possibility of influencing waking reality through lucid dreaming deserves similarly careful consideration. Becoming conscious within a dream is already a fascinating undertaking; the further implications require their own argument. I would want to leave space between engaging with a practice and accepting every claim attached to it.
What appeals to me is the invitation to participate, particularly through practices that give sustained attention to inner experience. My reservation concerns how much of the larger worldview a reader must accept for that participation to feel meaningful. I am comfortable entering unfamiliar spiritual territory with questions intact. The combination of dreamwork and mirror meditation offers a reason to explore this book, although the promise of a new dawn leaves me wanting a clearer view of the ground beneath my feet.

Was excited to see a return to the Toltec path, as there hasn't been any since the '90s -- so this was an invigorating and nourishing read. Lots of wisdom tying us to the New Dawn. A must read for the year to come!
