The Redstring Bracelet

Rate this book
When her latest caregiver, her grandfather, dies suddenly in his sleep, Dagnee Beth Clemmons becomes an orphan once again. Faced with not only the mystery of his murder, the dreams begin to haunt her, just like they haunted him. Looking for not only the love she's wanted all her life, she begins to seek answers as to why the family heirloom - the redstring bracelet - has been so important to every one of her ancestors who wore it. From a captured slave, named Capra, in Africa in the late 1700's, who takes the bracelet from her dying mother's wrist to have one precious thing to remind her of the home she will never see again before being loaded onto a frigate bound for America, to a Native American Indian girl, pretending to be English royalty to save the lives of her two sons, Dagnee is guided and comforted by the lives of her past relatives; the only "family" she has that she sees only when she sleeps. While the dreams answer many of her questions, she is still determined to uncover why several townspeople appear to know more about the bracelet than she does; even appearing to lust after the bracelet she now wears since her grandfather's passing; the bracelet she, Dagnee Beth, or "'Nee" as most people called her, was used to seeing on his wrist when he'd bounce her on his lap when she was just a youngster. With the help of old family friends, 'Nee lets her dreams lead her through an adventure that uncovers more than one mystery about her loved ones and about herself.
