About the author

Derek Prince (1915-2003), was an International Bible teacher and founder of Derek Prince Ministries International, wrote more than fifty books.
He was born in India of British parents. Educated as a scholar of Greek and Latin at Eton College and Cambridge University, England, he held a Fellowship in Ancient and Modern Philosophy at King’s College. He also studied Hebrew and Aramaic, at Cambridge University and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. His daily radio broadcast, Derek Prince Legacy Radio, still reaches listeners around the world.

“I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.” This quote is really very true for the righteous people of God. There’s a book I read who highly recommended reading this and now I do agree. It opened a lot of the things I was thinking. Very interesting read indeed.

What I loved about this book is how it clearly states what blessings and curses are according to the word of God. As Christians we are sometimes more focused on the blessings we forget the curses. We have re-occurring situations and we don’t question the reasons that could be behind them. The impact of the spoken word over your life, the impact parents, teachers, pastors or anyone with authority might have in your life is not something to be ignored. We should always put on the full armour of God and use the authority given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ to fight. Most battles are spiritual. I urge everyone to stand strong in the word, hold on to their faith and Pray the prayer provided in this book.

I learned a lot reading this, I did not agree with all his points and I wish some things were explained in more depth, and of course the bible translations he used were confusing to his points sometimes, but for a ‘simply’ explained biblical topic I believe he did a good job and the book filled it’s purpose.

Derek Prince uses stories, practical advice, and encouragement for those who may be living under a curse from their family or someone who spoke harmful words over them and had a bad experience afterwards. Prepare for revelation and your mind to be blown!

The gospel was clearly presented and obedience was not downplayed unlike in other "Christian" books.

However, I disagree with him on some points, they felt superstitious.

This IS reality. The physical world is temporal, but the spiritual world is eternal. And this spiritual world has a HUGE impact on us in the here & now.

I read this book at the recommendation of a friend and as a discussion book. It proved to be a great discussion book, but somewhat disturbing. Derek Prince was very persuasive in his writing and also does a good job with Biblical references. However, his extreme measures and black and white points are difficult to process. It is hard to put God in such a box as he did.

This book is an important resource for prayer ministers, and probably should be read by Christians. It provides a more comprehensive understanding of blessings and curses from the Bible - and their implications - than I have read or studied anywhere else.
