Some teaching methods are timeless. In this revised and expanded edition of Charlotte Mason's grammar, you will discover one of them the simple method of narration that focuses on conversation as a natural means of teaching grammar to your fourth to eight graders. A large and curious Victorian illustration accompanies each lesson. Simply Grammar brings to bear more of your child's natural thinking ability than ordinary grammar lessons. The student is given the opportunity to create his own sentences, often to tell a story using the large illustrations. By this method he uses his new understanding of the sentence to demonstrate a more thorough knowledge. Simply Grammar is part of The Gentle Art of Learning™ series. It allows you to follow a pace that matches your child's ability. Keeping this in mind, in most cases, a several year program where the teacher is free to decide when and how often review is necessary. Simply grammar can be used to enhance any other grammar program.

Although I really like Mrs. Andreola style of education and have use many ideas for her book "The Gentle Art of Learning", I found this book to be a little light on content. It assumed an interest on the part of the student and that they would naturally get the information when presented. This was not the case with my student, naturally gifted in many areas, grammer just isn't one of them and since grammar doesn't come naturally to me I found it a difficult text to use with little or no re enforcement of the concepts.
This was my first English grammar, and I still love it. It has the best illustrations, teaches well, and has fun activities. Definitely plan to use it with my children!
I found this book had nice short and sweet grammar lessons, but at times, I the mom and teacher needed a bit more explanation to understand some of the more complex grammar. I used it for my 5th grader and 7th grader last year quite a bit.
