Literally me asking out loud: What did I just read…?
This manga definitely takes the win for the most mind blowing and confusing manga I've picked up and read.
I had skimmed the first chapter at the bookstore and was totally hooked, but definitely got lost (I think?) after that opening chapter. I think I know what's going on? This honestly would make an INCREDIBLE movie because there is so much action, high stakes, and a lot of good case solving.
I think where I got lost is figuring out what is going on and why the ID well is being used. I think it's being used to help the good guys, but everything is happening so fast that it felt like it was hard keeping up. There are also a lot of names thrown about and felt overwhelmed by that a little bit.
Did that take my enjoyment away?
Surprisingly, no it did not. The best parts are seeing the main dude and how he will handle the situations he's in. (I am 100% ready to read more about this guy because his story isn't as confusing and I genuinely want to know who this guy is.) The chick we meet in the second chapter and follow for the rest of the book is just as gutsy as him and really liked her as well.
Overall, I really enjoyed this! I did find myself frustrated at one point because it seemed like everything was going "wrong" for the good guys and didn't know who they were or what they actually do. So I came to a point where I felt things were just a lie (they weren't) and wanted answers. I'm glad I kept reading though!
This manga will definitely suck you in and keep you flipping pages to find out what's happening next!
I just finished watching the anime adaptation and it was a solid 8.5 stars! Can’t wait to see how the storyline continues in this. Only thing the manga will sadly be lacking will be the show’s fantastic playlist so I may just have to play it whilst I read!
I literally didn't know this existed until 4 hours ago. For those who don't know, ID:Invaded started as an original anime in 2020. It was a sort of cross between Inception and your classic detective murder mystery. What if the brilliant detective could enter the dreams of the killer? Deduce their identity from inside their own head? It was incredible, and one of the best anime I've had the pleasure of watching. Flash forward to today. After clocking out at the Booksamillion I work at, I went to the manga section and just stumbled across the series. I may have impulse bought all three, BUT ITS WORTH IT, GOSH DANGIT. This is every bit as good as the show was. If anything, I'm kind of vibing with the manga even moreso than the show. This is the luckiest discovery I've made in years, I'm so happy. 😭😂
Dude wakes up in a car, has no idea why he's there, who he is, where the road is and sees explosions of multiple car crashes and rushes to the scene... this begins ID: Invaded. It is a police/detective murder mystery type story. As this is only the first volume, you obviously don't get a full explanation of what's going on. There is one thing that was interesting but I don't want to spoil it and I feel it will be a larger part of the story so if my library gets the next couple of volumes I'll probably check them out... but this first volume did not grab me and shout "HEY! You really want to read this!"
Verdict: Not bad, worth looking at, especially if you like mysteries or detective stories. But so far, nothing too spectacular.
One of the best mystery manga's I have ever read. Psychologically intense, and amazing. Both the manga and the anime are best extremely well written and done. Slightly confusing at times due to presentation of the ID Well, such as the Mizuhanome and the Wakumusubi, associated with it but I understood after rereading it and watching the anime.

I bought this one on a whim since the teaser on the back caught my attention. It was an enjoyable, if confusing read. The story feels like it picks up in the middle, and absolutely NO questions are answered in this volume.
Cool concept but I am so fucking confused. Also why does he keep calling himself a brilliant detective??? I get it, you're smart I'm dumb, you're big and I'm small, you're right and I'm wrong!!!
If you love the anime, you HAVE to read this. It has the same amount of complexity, brilliant characters and mind-boggling plot as the show. The art is arguably even better.
If you enjoyed the anime, then you will like this. I also wouldn’t read this if you haven’t seen the anime, because it makes a whole lot more sense if you do. Otherwise, this is such a unique, action-packed, and brutal psychological thriller. I especially love the idea of entering the id, the part of the unconscious that contains all the urges and impulses, of serial killers in order to catch them. Narihisago, an interesting and multifaceted main character, is the perfect person to enter these broken, convoluted, and intense worlds. For reference, both the manga and the anime reminded me a bit of Psycho Pass.
