I borrowed loads of PMP books from my local library and gradually returned all of them with a feeling of dissatisfaction. Only this gem, written by George Angel, stayed with me for 4 consecutive borrows. My entire PMP exam revision notes were based on this book because he presents the information so clearly, explains difficult topics well, provides extra useful information, and clearly follows the PMBOK guide.
I've scheduled my PMP exam and will update with my progress later. I'm convinced that if I pass first time, this book will have played a huge role in my success. I intend on buying my own reference copy once the new edition comes out in November!
This is my class required reading, but I find myself enjoying this book with real world examples and well thought out sections and tips inserts. Since it was organized and written by project managers, I would expect nothing less. PMs seem like a group that enjoys the success of others.
As time went on, this book became viewed as the more difficult read in class as opposed to the PMBOK edition. Rita Mulcahey's Exam prep book is the one everyone says will help pass the test.
All in all, this book is great for a beginner to get initial concepts. I feel that things I am weak on: meetings, contracts-- I will need sufficient time to learn about and improve on, and this book will not teach me everything I need to know.
It is a great book the start studying for PMP certification. All the knowledge is showed with project management examples to fully understand the essentials of managing.
