This is one of those books that makes me want to give it the best review I can so other readers will want to read it too. I thought this book was the best book in Shelley Shepard Gray’s A season in Pinecraft series. In fact in my opinion I felt it just might be the best book she has ever written. I was so drawn into the story that I could feel Lilly Kurtz’s anguish and feelings of betrayal when her boss seemed to side with guests that falsely accused her of wrong doing. I thought this book was heartwarming and emotional. Her Secret Hope is the third and final book of this series. I’m sad to see it come to an end and I enjoyed the other books in the series also. I loved the characters and let myself bond with them.

This book is Lilly Kurtz’s story and how she found happiness in her life. Lilly was adopted by an Amish couple who had older children. It had always seemed like her adoptive parents didn’t really treat her as part of the family. Her friends at school didn’t seem to except her because she had been adopted. When Lilly met Mary Margaret and Betsy on a Trailway bus going to Pinecraft Florida the three girls became best friends. Later Esther had becomes friends with the girls too. When Lily moved to Pinecraft to work at the B&B she felt like she belonged there. She didn’t plan on romance to become a part of her life. Lilly had a lot of mixed feelings that she needed to come to grips with in her life and she had a secret that she was ashamed of. Can Lilly ever find love and happiness in her life ?

I recommend this book to readers of Amish Romance Fiction and to fans of the Author. There are two other books in this series and I feel it would be beneficial to read the other books before you read this one. Characters are carried over from book to book. This book is scheduled to be released on 11/7/23.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are my own.

Her Secret Hope encapsulates the essence of a compelling narrative woven with intricate emotional layers and vibrating depth. The third installment in the "A Season in Pinecraft" series, this book is a testament to Gray's unparalleled storytelling finesse, a tale that effortlessly grips the reader from the very first page.

The story takes place almost two years after Lilly Kurtz's initial foray into the idyllic Pinecraft, Florida, portraying her journey with heart-tugging authenticity. Amidst the backdrop of the Marigold Inn, Lilly's encounter with the affable Eddie Byler and his spirited grandmother, November, sets the stage for a love that must confront its share of problems, unfolding with a compelling, slow-burning intensity.

Gray masterfully crafts multidimensional characters. The growth and interaction of these vibrant personalities mirror the intricacies of real life, drawing readers into a world brimming with relatable challenges and heartfelt triumphs. Through nuanced storytelling, Gray seamlessly integrates the journey of familiar characters from the previous books, offering a satisfying continuation and closure to their stories.

Her Secret Hope is a tender exploration of secrets, resilience, and the redemptive power of hope. Lilly's journey serves as a touching reminder of the transformative power of newfound friendships and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity – acknowledging through it all that God is in control. Gray's masterful storytelling not only weaves a captivating tale but also offers subtle yet profound reflections on life and love.

I received an eARC of Her Secret Hope from Revell through NetGalley. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions in this review are my own. My review focuses on the book's content, ensuring transparency and reliability.

Sweet conclusion to the series! Love that the Season in Pinecraft Series is centered around three "wall flowers".

Lily was adopted and has never felt fully felt a part of her adopted family. She moves from Ohio to Pinecraft, Florida after having previously visited and enjoying her time there. Lily's plan is to work as a maid and enjoy spending time with the friends she made in Pinecraft during her prior visit.

Eddie is in Pinecraft to vacation with his grandmother. They are a kind pair and quickly befriend Lily. Lily soon must decide if she truly wants to live in Pinecraft or if she is open to a different path to contentment and happiness.

After reading this series, I feel like I've visited Pinecraft. It sounds like a fascinating place.

My gratitude to publisher Revell for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.

"This story was light and easy to read—nothing too serious—but it did address the issue of how adopted children might feel accepted by their family and society in general. Another issue is mentioned in the book, which I thought was a great topic, and that is the topic of personal integrity and the importance of having and maintaining a good reputation, even when it is questioned.

The main character, a young Amish woman named Lilly Kurtz, decides to establish herself in another town, away from Ohio, and in Pinecraft, Florida, an Amish community.

Lilly is a hard worker and obtains a full-time job at the Marigold Inn in order to earn her keep and start life on her own. She's a shy woman, uncertain of herself, and a bit insecure. The Amish man she meets at the inn is also insecure and tends to over-analyze his actions. The reason I gave this book less than five stars is that even though it is in the Christian genre, I was hard-pressed to find much mention of God, salvation through Jesus Christ, or church. I also felt the story was written for a much younger audience, and perhaps it was, but I'm not accustomed to seeing that in other books I've read written by Shelley Shepard Gray.

It's a clean story, with nothing untoward to make it unsuitable for someone as young as 17. The cover also didn't appeal to me, but that's probably just me.

I recommend the book to others because it's a nice story about two young people who experience many life lessons and do learn from them. If you want a relaxed introduction to Christian-genre Amish stories, this would be a good book to start with, to give as a gift to someone new to this type of fiction.

I received a free copy of this book from Revell Publishers through Interviews & Reviews in exchange for an honest review."

While not the strongest storyline in the Pinecraft series - this installment is a perfect conclusion to the series. Lilly Kurtz returns to Pinecraft for good, but not to be with a man. She is tired of living in the shadow of her adoption and wants to figure out life on her own. She takes a job as a maid in order to secure free housing and enjoys getting to reconnect with her best friends. The only thing is, even though she is so much closer to them, she has never felt further apart. They seem to speak their own language talking about husbands and kids and Lilly starts to feel left out. That's not what she wanted? Or is it? When Eddie Byler, an Amish guest at the inn, starts talking to her she feels a spark. Maybe there is something there, but she's nervous that if he gets too close he will be disgusted by her past. Can she let down her walls to let love in? Inspirational, heartwarming, and charming. I wish this series would continue!

Her Secret Hope by Shelley Shepard Gray
A Season in Pinecraft #3
6h 53m narrated by Christina Moore, 304 pages

Genre: Christian Fiction > Amish Fiction, Inspirational; Romance > Contemporary Romance

Featuring: Epigraph, Pinecraft, Florida; Wallflowers, Inn, Maid, Adoption, Innkeeper, Multiple POVs, Chef, Drama, Insecurities, Parents

Rating as a movie: PG

My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🧹

My thoughts: This story reminded me of my first Shelley Shepard Gray book and series immediately. [The Promise of Palm Grove - The Amish Brides of Pinecraft] Like that series, it features a group of friends that take a vacation in Pinecraft Florida and return one by one and find love. This story, like that series, features a character that returns to work at the inn. There is a character named November for the same reason I got January; it's not her birth month, like me, and her real name is Mary, like my mom. It was nice to see my mom wasn't the only mom tired of several girls sharing a name; it's too bad I didn't get to choose mine. Overall, I really enjoyed this story; the drama was great, and I'm assuming there be more books based on that loose end.

Recommend to others: Absolutely! This series is pretty fantastic.

Just finished reading this book and I definitely have mixed feelings about it.
I did enjoy seeing the friends back together again and visiting Pinecraft. I'm always delighted to read anything from this setting.
This novel however felt a little different than the 1st two. I think it was the way that Lilly's and Eddie's relationship was a whirlwind, insta romance. Not exactly a fan of those. It felt too rushed.
Then there's Nancy. I didn't much care for her throughout the whole series. I thought her too pushy and I don't know. It's weird
While I understand Nancy I still thought she did wrong. It made me not want to like her. I have mixed feelings on that too. I won't say anything more.
I loved Lilly. I thought her character was sweet. She's a people pleaser just like me and just like me she's adopted. So we get along just fine.
November was the coolest character ever!! I just loved her. She kind of made me laugh at her antics towards Eddie.
I love Gray's books and I will continue to read them. I love her stories because she does an excellent job in making her characters like Lilly and Eddie come alive.
I did laugh at Eddie though. He really is a hoot.
I'm thinking the message is things will happen in God's timing not our own and He'll put us in places where He thinks we can serve best.
I'm still giving this story 5 stars. I will highly recommend it.
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher. Opinions expressed are my own.

Scripture Connection
"Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works."
Heb. 10:24

Spiritual Themes
The above verse is included as the novel’s epigraph, along with an Amish proverb. I think the connection is because of the friendships in the novel, particularly the friendships between the four young ladies of Pinecraft.

What I Liked
This is my second novel by the author, as I also read book 1 in the Season in Pinecraft series. Having read the first book, I better knew what to expect: Although the main characters are Amish, they are on vacation, so a bit of the usual Amish flavor is missing. Because I came into this book with that expectation, I was more prepared to read.

Her Secret Hope is a light, sweet read. I enjoyed the double romance plotlines, with a secondary focus on Nancy, Lilly’s manager. There were also two romances going on in book 1, so I suspect this may have also been the case with book two.

I liked Phillip. It was fun to see how he took Lilly under his wing. Likewise, I enjoyed seeing how Esther made a point to watch out for her friend (especially considering what I knew about Esther from book 1). On a similar note, it was fun to see how Eddie became friends with the male characters from earlier stories.

The drama with Lilly’s job, midway through the story, introduced a welcome element of intrigue. As far as points of interest go, this was one of my favorite parts of the story.

Respectful Critique
Although I enjoyed reading the book, it didn’t make a lasting impression, on me. I read it just over a week ago and am having trouble remembering it. With that said, part of my lack of memory could have to do with the fact that I read most of the book in the day.

Content Notes
Lilly was adopted by her Amish parents, and she wonders how Eddie will respond to this fact. We also witness a somewhat strained relationship between Lilly and her parents.

Recommendation Status
While this wasn’t an especially memorable read for me, I certainly enjoyed the experience. Recommended to readers who enjoy light and sweet Amish fiction.

This is book 3 in the Pinecraft series. Lilly decides to move to Florida to be with her friends. Lilly is adopted and has always felt that she did not meet the standards of her parents. Lilly goes and gets a job as a maid, and everyone loves her at the end. One of the guests there meets Lily early on and they form a relationship. November is an elderly lady and her grandson Eddie is with her. Soon Lily meets Eddie and they fall for each other. It is a delightful story and everyone involved are memorable characters.

Her Secret Hope is the last book in the Pinecraft series, I believe it can be read as a standalone but it does help to read the other two for more if the backstory of Lilly a d her friends. Lily moves to Pinecraft, Florida from Ohio to be a housekeeper at an Inn. She meets Eddie and his grandmother November and strike up a friendship. Another sweet Amish romance from Shelley Shepard Gray. Thank you to NetGalley and Revell for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.

I was curious to see how this novel would compare to the first two books in the series. It was much better in my opinion and that was largely due to Eddie Byler and his grandmother, November. Two new guests staying at the Inn where newly hired Lilly works and resides.

Lilly has longed to escape her past and ties to her Ohio hometown, but that’s not meant to be when she discovers Eddie lives a few short miles from her hometown. If you are expecting a jaw dropping secret about her past, you won’t find it in this novel, it’s kind of sad, but not the big deal she thinks it is. I felt sorry for her about an incident involving her at work, I thought she was treated unfairly and was happy with the support she received.

Overall, this is an enjoyable quick read, perfect for all ages and a nice addition for readers of Amish fiction.

This is the third book in a series and it was lovely to be back in Pinecraft. This book has a wonderful cast of characters, both old and new, I especially loved meeting November and her hint of sass.

I enjoyed this series very much, and Her Secret Hope is a perfect ending to this trilogy. I loved returning to Pinecraft and the familiar characters there. Lilly’s story is different from her friends’ and I thought Lilly and Eddie were so fun to follow. New characters kept things interesting, especially the spunky grandmother November. I recommend this series if you like clean, Christian fiction, romance, and Amish stories. This is Shelley Shepard Gray at her best.

“The Lord must have known that the four of them needed each other…”

I’ve enjoyed this A Season in Pinecraft series by Shelley Shepard Gray, and I admit to being sad that we’re saying goodbye to the ‘fab four’ – Mary Margaret, Betsy, Esther and Lilly. It’s been so sweet to watch their bond of friendship form initially and then grow closer over the course of these three books. And I’ve loved having a front row seat as – one by one – they each found a happily-ever-after when they least expected it. A sweet reminder that God’s plans for our lives are so much better than we could orchestrate on our own.

In Her Secret Hope, we at long last get Lilly’s story and it was definitely worth the wait. I very much wanted to reach inside the book and hug Lilly tight, bring her a coffee just the way she likes it, and sit with her on the Magnolia Inn’s porch until I could convince her of how valued she is by God and those who love her. She has never felt fully loved but instead always feels as though she is lacking in some way. I felt very protective of Lilly in this book, and subsequently felt a little betrayed by one of the series’ recurring tertiary characters who treated her quite shabbily at one point in the story. (It served a purpose though, and all ended well, but my purse whomping tote was getting a bit twitchy lol.) I appreciated this exploration of the insecurities that adopted children often experience as they grow up, carrying over into how they see themselves as adults, as friends, as employees, and perhaps most especially as marriage material. It’s not something that’s addressed very much in fiction, but it gives us as readers deeper insight into our friends and family and perhaps even ourselves.

Which brings us to Eddie, who instantly sees what Mary Margaret, Esther, and Betsy saw in Lilly – a special young woman with a big heart who is worthy of feeling loved and cherished just as she is, flaws & insecurities & all. I loved watching him fall for her, especially the moments where his normally-straitlaced personality went up in flames (aka the kissing scenes!) haha. But more than the sparks he and Lilly set off, Eddie made my heart melt in how he watched out for Lilly, protected her, listened to her, appreciated her, and just showed his growing love for her in all those little ways that make him a true hero in my book. I didn’t feel like I truly got inside Eddie’s head as much as I did Lilly’s but he’s such a steady character that it didn’t matter. I also thought that sending Eddie to Pinecraft with his spunky grandmother November was a great writing choice on the part of the author – she balanced him well and I can just see her traipsing around Disney World! I see her as someone who would gladly wear a pair of Minnie Mouse ears over her kapp just because she’s on vacation and can.

Bottom Line: Her Secret Hope by Shelley Shepard Gray is a sweet send-off to a delightful series that has highlighted the bonds of friendship and the unpredictability of love. Each couple in the series has an instant connection/attraction, Lilly and Eddie included, but the author takes them all on journeys that refine and deepen their relationships into something that will last beyond the initial chemistry. I loved getting to hang out with all my favorite characters in this third book, and I enjoyed Lilly and Eddie’s romance from once-upon-a-time to happily-ever-after. A secondary romance adds further layers to this story, as do the various family dynamics that must be navigated. Warmth, humor, and gentle faith threads round out the story, making Her Secret Hope a lovely way to spend an evening.

I am so happy to be back in Pinecraft, Florida with some of my favorite characters from this series. This is Lilly Kurtz' story. She has moved to Pinecraft to be with her friends and try something new in her life. She is hired to work in housekeeping at the Marigold Inn. The owner even provides a room for her at the inn so that she has somewhere to stay. Her friends offer for her to stay with them, but they are newly married, and she does not want to intrude. Lilly takes her job very seriously and always wants to be her best. It does not take long for guests and co-workers to fall in love with Lilly. Lilly has struggled with the fact that she is adopted. Her Amish parents are not her birth parents. They raised her as their own, but she still feels different, and being different caused problems for her with people outside her family. She is on a mission to find herself and her happiness. Even though her friends have found love in Pinecraft, she does not plan on love until the day she meets Eddie Byler. Eddie and his family have a farm that is not far from her hometown in Ohio. Eddie is in town with his lovely grandmother. I fell in love with her. She was a fun loving lady who enjoyed lady. As their relationship deepens, Lilly does not want to share her troubles with Eddie. She fears that he will see her differently.

These characters had great emotional depth, and their personalities and emotions were evident in this book. I wanted to reach into the book and hug Lilly. She was such a kind soul. There is an incident in the book that really got under my skin. You will have to read the book to find out, but you will figure it out quickly. She was very kind, but she also had a backbone. What can I say about Eddie? What a gentleman he was. What kind of young man would travel with their elderly grandmother, but one with such a kind heart. However, he needed great assistance in the romance department. A past painful breakup has skewed his view of women and romance. Shelley Shepard Gray writes with true emotion and it shows up in the written word. Her characters are very realistic, likeable and three dimensional. Lilly and Eddie's faith is deep and true. I have never been an Amish romance fan until I started this series. Shelley Shepard Gray has made me a fan of this genre. So, even if you do not ordinarily read Amish romance, I would highly recommend this book and this series.

Thank you to Revell Books and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Her Secret Hope
A Season in Pinecraft #3
By Shelley Shepard Gray

Lilly Kurtz wants to reset her life, leaving her past and her sense inferiority behind. Pinecraft, Florida, is the perfect place to start over. She has friends there and it's comfortable.

With a job at the Bed and Breakfast that she first stayed in two years ago, Lilly's new life is on track. What Lilly never expected was to find the possibility of love so soon after leaving Ohio behind.

Eddie Byler has taken time from his busy life as a farmer to bring his grandmother on a vacation to Florida. But Eddie is in more need of a break from his busy life than his grandmother. Since his plans for the future and a family were shattered he's been all about work. Lilly has managed to make an impact on him with her sweet and caring personality. And the time she's given to his grandmother is even more important to him.

But Lilly has a secret, one she knows will change everything. One that she's afraid to share. One that shows she's not worthy of love.

Her Secret Hope is an excellent read. This book delves into the feelings that can plague someone who has been adopted. Not knowing why has a way of affecting the way one thinks, feels, and interacts with and around others. This book is moving and in a way explains Lilly desire to please and do her best. When an incident occurs and her new life is thrown into disarray, Lilly is faced with a choice - run from the past yet again or face it.

I really enjoyed this book. The depths of emotion that were presented as Lilly faced new challenges were moving. One could feel her anguish when accusations were made against her. Her shock at being treated as she was. The adage of the customer is always right even when they are wrong is on full display here and such a policy is most definitely wrong if absolutely enforced all the time. Let's just say I would have been in tears too.

This is the best book in the series, and can be read as a standalone title if you haven't read the previous two books. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys contemporary or Amish fiction.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Her Secret Hope by Shelley Shepard Gray has Lilly Kurtz returning to Pinecraft for a fresh start. It has been two years since her first visit to the unique Amish and Mennonite town. Lilly was adopted as a baby and her family never kept it a secret. Actually, it seems one of the first things Mrs. Kurtz’s tells people (heavens knows why). Lilly also did not feel accepted by the children at school. Mary Margaret, Betsy, and Esther are the first true friends Lilly had had in her life. I know what it is like to feel that you do not fit in and to have people judge you. Lilly may be in a new city, but she has still has to learn to let people get to know her. It seems that Lilly keeps a protective a shield around her. The characters are realistic and developed. I like that we get to catch up with Mary Margaret, Betsy, Esther, and their husbands. Lilly gets a job at bed and breakfast that is run by Nancy (the place the young women stayed on their first visit to Pinecraft). I like that we get to catch up with Nancy and her friendly chef. Lilly may believe that she is destined to remain single, but it seems God has other plans for her. Of course, Lilly needs to be willing to let down her barriers and be happy with who she is. I just love November Byler. She is a spirited character. I hope I am as lively and quick witted at that age. I did feel that the story moved a little slow in places and there was a repetition of details. The author captured Pinecraft and Siesta Key. I understood why Lilly liked going to Siesta Key beach, it is a beautiful beach (it is my favorite beach). Her Secret Hope is the third and final book in A Season in Pinecraft series. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the series in order. It will allow you to get to know the characters and their stories. There are good life lessons in Her Secret Hope including that God is in control. Her Secret Hope is a touching tale with a returning friend, a spirited grandmother, a bored farmer, a flirtatious chef, an alarming allegation, and a gracious God.

My Review:

Okay y'all! This is book 3 in the Pinecraft series. I have reviewed all of them up till now. This one is just as refreshing as the other two in the series. The first one was about Betsy, the second Mary and now on to Lilly. Each one with their own story and something they are running from or trying to escape.

Lilly is no different and she moves to Pinecraft to escape or just to start a new chapter, at the very least. But with all young people eventually a boy will come into the picture to complicate things. And here walks Eddie, unsuspecting--of course. Her Secret Hope brings readers back for a third visit to the peaceful and refreshing Pinecraft, Florida, in Shelley Shepard Gray's A Season in Pinecraft series.  I appreciate the wholesome, sweet, faith-filled stories that Ms. Gray writes and Her Secret Hope maintains that reputation.  Lilly Kurtz is a quiet hardworking young Amish woman who wants a fresh start in Pinecraft, Florida away from her Ohio hometown and her past. Lilly's friends make her feel welcome and support Lilly in her role of housekeeping at the local bed and breakfast. As Lilly settles into life in Pinecrest, she meets November, a sweet and fun older guest of the bed and breakfast. November's grandson Eddie Byler is a hardworking farmer who runs into Lilly and can't stop thinking about her. Lilly and Eddie soon discover that they both come from the very same hometown, leaving Lilly afraid of Eddie discovering her secrets. Can they find a way to each move on from their pasts and discover a future together? Read Her Secret Hope to find out for yourself.

I appreciated Ms. Gray's sweet storytelling in Her Secret Hope and the way she brought practical and clear life lessons to the readers. As the characters worked through the complex situations of life, Ms. Gray brought forward the simple and important themes of faith, forgiveness, reconciliation, and courage.  I appreciate the simplicity and genuineness of the story and the way the characters encouraged, challenged, and protected one another.  If you are looking for a sweet, slow-paced, charming read this is it. Don't expect loads of suspense and action, since it is definitely not in the thriller or suspense genre. Although this is a slow moving story, Her Secret Hope is well-written and sweet. Happy reading!

In the course of reading the Amish trilogy, A Season in Pinecraft, the reader is taken on a trip to Pinecraft, Florida, where a lot of Amish visitors like to go during the cold winter months. Englisch tourists come as well, but with so many Amish, the Amish stand out less and have more accommodations for their lifestyle. Three girls who don’t have friends among their hometown peers, end up together in Pinecraft where they develop a strong friendship with each other. Her Secret Hope focuses on Lilly Kurtz who moves to Pinecraft two years later to be with her friends and begin a new independent life working in the Marigold Inn cleaning rooms.

There she meets Eddie and his grandmother who becomes friends with everyone she meets. Eddie has taken her to Disney World, but after that adventure she is ready to rest, have meals brought to her, and (gasp!) watch DVD’s in her room. She is quite taken with the hardworking, kind Lilly and tries to do a little matchmaking. There is already some attraction between Eddie and Lilly. In trying to make conversation and get to know Lilly, Eddie pushes too hard as Lilly has a secret that she doesn’t want to share for fear it will cause Eddie to reject her as she has been looked down on so often in the past.

When there is a traumatic accusation at the inn, Lilly’s friends and co-workers stand up for her, but unfortunately her boss does not. This dramatic twist brings climactic change for Lilly and Eddie. Secrets are shared and hard decisions are made. Read this novel to see if all of the friends remain in Pinecraft and if love can survive the worst of times.

Thank you so much @revellfiction for my gifted copy as part of your reviewer program. This is the final book in A Season In Pinecraft series, book three. We focus on Lilly's story. After meeting on the bus to this seaside town, four Amish girls become fast friends. An English innkeeper is the key to their threads, and we move through the stories as the women find their place in this new community. I would love to see a story spin off about Nancy and her path to the inn and finding peace and love with Phillip. Lilly is hiding parts of her past that has made her feel less than worthy, both in her own family circle and in relationships with others. We see her struggle through the book with this fear that if she opens up people will judge and not accept her. I found it a bit strange to be worried about this, but perhaps in the Amish world it is a thing. The inn gets new guests, Eddie and his Grandmother November. These two were my favorite characters. A feisty, down to earth November, sets her skills in matchmaking her Grandson, even though she frequently frustrates him with her shenanigans. I found the story easy to read, a nice wrap up of the other characters from the previous books and a sweet ending. If you enjoy reading main characters that reference Amish culture and traditions, then this story is for you. Lilly takes on the courage to be strong, brave, make her way in the world, open her heart to the chance at love, and acceptance. For a clean read this series sure fits the bill. #ASeasonInPinecraft #AmishFiction #RevellReads #bookclubgirlssparta #shellyshepardgray #floridaseaside #christianromance #contemporaryfiction

Two years ago, Lilly Kurtz travelled to Pinecraft, FL for a vacation with her friends. Now, all three of her friends are married and living in Pinecraft, and Lilly is taking a chance and moving her things to Florida as well. All she wants is a fresh start in a place where no one knows the secret of her background. At first, all goes well. She's making new friends, enjoys her job, and loves reconnecting with her married friends. Meeting farmer Eddie Byler who is on vacation with his grandmother, seems like the icing on her cake of joy, until she discovers he lives a mere 8 miles from her hometown. She can't imagine returning to a place where she's always felt excluded but she's falling hard for Eddie. Will she have to give him up to have the peace she craves? What happens when one of her "bullies" from back home turns up in Pinecraft? Will her secret past drive Eddie away?

When Lilly is falsely accused of stealing, and her manager doesn't stand behind her, Lilly feels bereft. Is she fooling herself that she can find a place where people trust her and she isn't the object of gossip?

I have enjoyed this series set in Pinecraft. The young women and the men they fall for are all very different, and yet they have the same dream - to find someone who will love them as they are. Lilly and Eddie are drawn to each other from the start, and Eddie proves himself to be worthy of Lilly's trust.

Readers who enjoy Amish romance fiction will enjoy this story. This is the third book in this series by Shelley Shepard Gray, and if you want to get to know Lilly's friends, you'll need to read the first two. I listened to this one on my Libby app and it was a fairly quick book to listen to.

I am really enjoying this series. I believe that we met all of the main characters in book one but each of the following books has centered on an individual girl. This time around it is Lilly Kurtz.

Somehow she got up the courage to actually move to Pinecraft and take a position at the Marigold Inn. Both of her friends are now living in Pinecraft so it seemed like the logical next step for her. Of course both of her friends were now married so she was a bit surprised by how little time she actually was able to spend with them. It was kind of one of those lonely in a crowd situations.

Of course there has to be an interesting guy involved. That would be Eddie. He is on vacation with his grandma and takes an interest in Lilly. She's very wary of becoming involved with him because he will be leaving soon. But the attraction is strong and keeps her pursuing a relationship with Eddie.

I have enjoyed getting to know Lilly and her story through this series. She is the most shy of the three girls which of course makes her the most cautious. The story of how she and Eddie work through all the hurdles in making their relationship work was the perfect way to end this series.

When you get to the end of a story and you want to know more about what happens to the characters as their lives progress you know the book has been good. That's the way this book and series were for me. My hope is that these characters will make repeat appearances in upcoming stories. I recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys contemporary fiction with an Amish twist.

Starting Over!

Lilly is a young Amish woman who has left her midwestern home to live in Pinecraft, Florida. Adopted as a small child, her austere parents never let her, or anyone else, forget that.

She has decided she wants to do as her friends have done, move to Florida and start a new life. But things are different now. Lilly had counted on all of them hanging out together the way they had done when they were all single. However, her friends have all married, so can't do as much with her as they did before.

To make it worse, the job she has as a housekeeper has turned into a nightmare. A guest wrongly accused Lilly of stealing. She claimed her sweater was taken when her room was cleaned, and insists Lilly took it. Lilly's boss did not stand up for her, and it appears she may be fired.

Eddie and his grandmother are visiting Pinecraft and make Lilly a proposal. Although unorthodox, it may be an answer to her prayers. It would also give her time to explore her feelings for Eddie.

This tale had some surprising twists, and the ending was unexpected--especially if you have read the other books in the series. The story is clean, and stands on its own. I love the setting in Florida, and the descriptions of the area. Fans of Amish tales, and well-written stories will love this five-star book.

Lilly Kurtz finally did it. She left her home and moved to the Amish community of Pinehurst in Florida where she hoped to become a better version of herself. Her two closest friends lived there, and she planned to make a life for herself. She was immediately hired at a Bed and Breakfast as a maid, and she would try to save enough money to one day buy a house of her own. She wasn't sure she would ever find love the way her friends had, so she would make it on her own. Eddie Byler, a young farmer from Ohio, and his delightful grandmother meet Lilly while on vacation in Pinehurst. Attracted to Lilly from the start, Eddie couldn't understand why she made it so difficult for him to get to know her. Lilly had her reasons, but Eddie is a determined man. Can he convince Lilly of this?

The author has skillfully created two very different protagonists who meet simply by chance or perhaps it was fate. Whatever the reason, a relationship develops but it is not without complications and that is what makes the narrative compelling. As the story progresses, it becomes obvious that sometimes love and trust don't always come easily but can be worth the effort if people are willing to take a chance.

Told with sensitivity and compassion, this well-crafted story is packed with emotion, meaningful relationships and the power of hope. It is well worth reading. Highly recommended.

When I saw Shelley’s latest release in the A Season in Pinecraft series available I just had to grab it and read in less than a day. Never mind that it doesn’t release until November I wasn’t waiting to read it!

I’ve loved this series and getting to know the girls who met on a bus in an ice storm on the way down to Pinecraft. This happened in the first book. Each book in the series has taken us through the girls’ friendships and meeting their beau, marriage and them settling into adult life.

I enjoyed reading the descriptions of Pinecraft, Florida and its Amish population and how they’ve adapted to life there. This book is about Lilly Kurtz, leaving her old life behind is not quite as easy as she thought it would be. Secrets seem to come to light when you least expect it, but will it put a damper on her new budding relationship with hardworking farmer Eddie Byler?

Eddie and his grandmother, November have traveled from Ohio for a vacation. I’ll say November is unlike any Amish woman I’ve read about. She’s sassy and I love her character.

Lilly is happy, she’s found work at an inn and gets along well with the other employees and the owner. When she is blamed for an incident beyond her control at work who will she have to fall back on? I have really enjoyed this series; I think it may be my favorite by the author and greatly look forward to her next series. I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
