The story is cute but this clearly was not checked by an editor or a proof reader. There were loads of typographical errors with spelling and punctuation. There were several redundant sentences in one paragraph. Overall, I get the story and the plot but the writing needs improvement.
Got this on stuff your kindle day. The premise is cute but there are so many errors its hard to really get into (and stay into). The author skips chunks of story (events, character building, conversations, narrating, descriptions) and I've flipped back a few pages several times to catch what I missed, but its not there 🙃 could be good with a couple rounds of editing.
Ethan, a single father and construction entrepreneur bumps into Cassie, the Queen of Thorns en route to her flower show he’s attending with his daughter. When Cassie’s prickly demeanor lands her in a media scandal she devises a plot how to rectify her public image. Of course, there’s a deal. Of course, there’s a small town. Of course, everyone nts them to get together. Except those who have skin in the game.
What I enoyed: - the tiny girl being the Beast while the lunberjack guy was the Belle; - smalltown settings and fairytale names - Red, Goldie etc; - modern retelling of Belle & Beast; - father-daughter interaction; - mysterious town elders who keep the town running and seem to be running the fairytale scenarios; - the fact that a Cindy (allusion to Ella) was a jealous hindrance rather than the FNC; - the fact that the ball was not for the MCs to get together but to break up - turned on its head, loved that!
What I didn’t like: - despite the Hallmark / BnB retelling plot, the emotional side of things was a little bit too 2D for me - not a rollercoaster ride, but then maybe I’m spoiled by angsty-twisty romantasy expectations; - the MCs fell in love too quickly, without analysing why and semingly over three instances of stereotypical somethings, but if you dig the rule of three and believe in love at first sight or thereabouts, maybe it’s more believable, so don’t take the word of moi the cynic.
Recommended for lovers of easygoing NA Hallmark romances and those who would read ANY retelling of BnB.
This was a sweet and entertaining book. I liked the characters and saw how the author was setting up the town to be at the forefront of most of her upcoming books in this series. I was intrigued by the founder's backstory and it made this for an even more interesting read. I have to say that I liked Cassie's fighting spirit and understand that her mouth could get ahead of her. I really like Ethan and his ability to learn how to loosen his grip (a little) for his daughter's sake. I found myself frustrated for too many pages, though when it called for Cassie to speak up. I knew what was coming. We all knew what was coming and it was only the delight of reading about those who came to her rescue that kept me from jumping ahead. In all, it was a sweet and nice way to pass the time. I do wonder what else the people of the town will get up to.
Sometimes the writing is.......odd "He was taller than six feet, and he was wearing a matching red sweatshirt" Matching what? "Eager to get to Emma, he extended his legs to the full length" So does he have go go gadget legs that get longer when he wants them to be? "used the side of his hand to pound the nails back into the side of the crate." He also has hammers for hands? "He didn’t usually like the modern cut" What is a modern cut?
I'm on page THREE yall
Some of the reviews said they didn't see the MMC as a Beast. Yet he is continuously misogynistic "Modern women were just shrews in hiding"
"Although when she was working, she always went by Cassie. Her manager, Saul, told her having a nickname made her more humane." Her name is literally Cassie. She just drops her last name at work lol
This is a true love story that started out on the wrong foot. Ethan and Cassie are really to opposing personalities. The storyline is sweet and emotionally moving. The characters make this a book worth ready. Small town character and quirkiness are really one of my favorite trope. Everyone knows everything in a small town and they know all your business. Ethan and Cassie don't really admit to themselves they were lonely and set in their ways. This author has a way with emotions and feelings. She really is able to connect with her readers. I totally enjoyed their relationship as it developed. Ethan's daughter is one of the best things about the book. She will make you laugh.
The story is definitely a cute idea and the ending may have persuaded my review. I’m missing a lot of time, it seems everything that went on in the book was happening within a week which made the whole story and the love between them a bit unrealistic as well as I felt like there were story parts missing and let’s not forget about the grammar, which should’ve definitely been checked twice😅 it does distract a bit from reading and sometimes understanding what the author meant. It’s a good idea but with a more stable storyline this could’ve been 3 stars It should probably also be like 1,5 ⭐️
Got this for free on stuff you kindle day. Although the story was a basic rom-com, the grammatical errors made it hard to follow the story at time. I don't think this was ever proof read after the initial writing.
Also, the title doesn't quiet fit. I felt like Cassie was both the beauty and beast. Ethan was never a beast.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were fun both because of their thoughts, attitudes and differences. Their relationship may not started as a regular love story but with attitudes changing, feelings slowly becoming new and confusing, and some of the crazy people in town are just plain fun and silly.
Cassie makes a public oopsie and needs to clean up her image. In walks Ethan who is perfect for a fake boyfriend. Feelings start flying unexpectedly. Can they be brave to admit their feelings or will they fizzle out?
The book was enjoyable to read and the idea is interesting but the situations in the book seem too happen in very weird ways, forced to fit the story. Has some very nice things going on. It's a very light, easy read
Love when you least expect it. I'm glad I read another book by this author. I really enjoyed this story, especially Ethan's teen daughter Emma who was laugh out loud funny . Great Story!
Ethan, Emma, and Cassie's story is wholesome and humorous. Watch out for sage, loving advice attached to balls of yarn. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Picked up on Stuff Your Kindle Day. Read because Popsugar 2025 inexplicably had a prompt to read a book with less than 3 stars on Goodreads and...boy, does this one fit that prompt.
got on stuff your kindle day. and my annotations say it all. got 3% of the way in and had to stop. i don’t do the whole “modern vs traditional” i found the way they were talking about people and each other gross
Que horror de libro, el peor romance que he leído en mi vida. Nunca he visto situaciones más absurdamente forzadas como… todo este libro, porque todo el era ridículo y forzado. Como he dicho, un horror.
