What do you do when your super hot one-night stand turns out to be your new boss?
This book is an Age Gap, CEO, Grumpy/Sunshine Romance. Steamy and sweet with a happy ever after.
Working as a personal assistant in a thriving business in the city, Laura knows her job role well. After a steamy fling with an older dominant woman from a dating app, Laura can’t believe her eyes when this woman turns out to be her new boss. Cold and straight-talking, Shay makes it clear she won’t mix business with pleasure.
What a quick hot read!!Laura and Shay meet thanks to a dating app. It is a hot date, but Shay doesn't cuddle the next morning claiming a bunch of meetings and goes. The following Monday, Laura goes to work to find that her boss, Michael is stepping down as CEO and his sister Shay is taking over. Yup! That Shay. 5 stars!
This was a quick and easy read but I was a little disappointed with the spice. At the start it says how Shay would like someone submissive and is more dominant in bed but then it just lacked any of those vibes! So for me personally, I just needed some more of that energy!
It’s written in third person with 2x POV’s. Age gap (20), Grumpy x Sunshine, Boss/Assistant, Masc/Femme, Insta-Love. 2x Spicy Scenes.
I began this book looking forward to another seductive take on the forbidden boss/employee trope, one of my favorites.
The serendipitous encounter between CEO Shay, 45, and Personal Assistant Laura, 25, held potential as a story line, but their relationship becomes too messy too early to be enjoyable.
Also, the novel suffers from grammatical errors, such as noun-verb disagreements, repeated parts of phrases, and improper, disconcerting tense changes.
There are hundreds of engaging, romantically edgy novels centering on sapphic relationships. Falling for the Boss has many of the basic elements found in successful stories, but there’s still work to be done for it to become one.
I really wanted to enjoy the story which started off pretty decent but took so many routes along the way. There was so much back and forth and falling in love after less than a week that it made the story hard to follow. Honestly it was not even slightly realistic enough for me to want to finish and I LOVE age gap, ice queen ceo stories. Hopefully future stories are more evolved.
I really like Grace Parkes' books but this one felt so unrealistic, everything happened so fast. So not really my favourite book of the author. I will continue following her hoping the next one will be better.
It feels like a typical, slightly toxic, and bad communication with no emotional depth, romance novel but with just the gender changed. The interactions felt like interaction with a man, which was a turn off. Dropped for now, might give it another go later, the writing style had a good flow but the characters were a bit bland and off putting.
This is a new author to me. I enjoyed reading the story even though Shays dominate side could have been mentioned more. It was very tame. I will be looking up to see what else the author has done.
This was a sweet and sexy read. The characters were strong and likable. It had an easy story flow. I wish it would have had a little more heat in the first encounter given how they described themselves. Still a good read.
Laura was very happy in her job and trying to get back in the dating scene. On her first date with Shay, she meets the woman of her dreams. Then Monday morning comes and learns that Shay is her new boss. An erotic romance with lots of fun and love.
This is a good quick read. You will enjoy each character and their ability to work their problems out. It did take a big fall out to get to the place they should be...together.
Laura and Shay went on a date. The next day Shay shows up at work as Laura's new boss. Oh my! What now? Will the two ladies decide or will they ignore each other? Can they find a happier solution? Enjoy!
Wow, fantastic storyline. I loved the main characters their journey to be together was written with so much depth that it keeps you hooked definitely worth reading congratulations
What can I say. I am a sucker for short, sexy romance stories. I love the idea you can fall in love at first sight or first meeting. When you have a connection, you can't help it.
This has a little of everything - it's sweet in places, angsty in others, and spicy as well in other places. It's instalove, or at least insta-sex. Then the surprise second meeting happens and things move on from there. I liked both main characters and the roommate.
This is a quick, intriguing and fun read. I enjoyed the main characters and the plot of the story. It's a great escape for a couple hours and of course I love a happy ending.
To be honest, this wasn't quite for me. The characters felt kinda flat to me, the love developed so quickly and didn't feel rewarding to read, I wasn't really rooting for the couple. I was a bit annoyed by the random shifts in perspective in some sentences or paragraphs, as well as the frequent use of written-out thoughts.
I was also expecting a bit more kink / power dynamics since "older, dominant woman" was part of the premise; Shay was indeed more the type to take charge and top her partner, but it didn't read as dominant in a kinky way to me as I had expected.
I did like some of the more minor aspects of the story though: Katies, Laura's housemate and best friend. Shay's pet tortoise. The way Laura was written as both a romantic, sensitive person as well as a competent professional in the business world.
I think if you're very into messy boss/employee relationships, ONS-to-romance stories, and/or fast-developing love stories, this might still be a nice read for you, though.
