This original story tackles a common toddler issue as the bestselling character Grumpy Monkey finds out that it’s okay to try something new.
Jim Panzee gives the same answer whenever he is offered something unfamiliar to eat—YUCK! He gives that same answer when he’s encouraged to “just try it.” But when picky eater Jim is offered a snack that promises to be sweet and tasty, he just might give in—and discover that he likes it! Here’s a story for all those toddlers whose all-purpose response to any new food is “Yuck.”
Suzanne and Max Lang, experts in all things Grumpy Monkey, present a funny book that just might help win over the pickiest of picky eaters.
I feel justified adding this to my read list because I kid you not, my son brings this to me minimum once a day to read. We’ve had the book since Christmas Eve last year. Even at 17months, my son gets it. A good book withstands rereading 800x.
This was cute! It takes the familiar characters from the longer Grumpy Monkey books and incorporates them into this short story about trying new foods. Jim finds himself hungry for a banana but the only food around is a pepper, which Jim does NOT want to eat.
I have to agree with Jim though, bananas are definitely better than peppers!
10/7- aunt Jilly bought you this book before you were even born. She even sent a little cute bananas shirt to go with it! This book is silly and we love it!! I can imagine us reading it some day together in hopes that you’ll try new foods! (Fun fact: your mommy loves peppers, but not bananas!! Your daddy loves them though!)
Jim Panzee was hungry, and wanted a banana, but there were no bananas to eat. His friends suggested that he eat a pepper, but Jim refused. After some coaxing Jim finally tried the pepper with a predictable response from this picky eater.
Jim Panzee is at it again! Everything he tries; he hates. He also has a new lesson to learn in being a little less grumpy and a lot more open to all new things. Very cute addition to the series.
Hmmmmmm I feel like I just am growing more aware that even little silly books shape a toddlers brain, per Peter saying “yuck” about a salad dressing after reading this book.
Um macaco que adora bananas mas também tem muita fome, quando não há bananas ele tem de aprender a experimentar outros alimentos, por muito que ache que não irá gostar.
