Soulfull is a gentle nudge to reorient our intentions and want more for our one precious a collection of spiritual reflections, recipes, activities, and prayers that come together as an encyclopedia of hope and spiritual direction.
“ Soulfull rebuilt and bolstered some corners of my soul that had been worn away. What a gift!”—Shauna Niequist, New York Times bestselling author of I Guess I Haven’t Learned That Yet
Are we truly living the life we want to live? Sometimes, but not nearly enough. Our souls crave authentic experiences, but seeking them is a challenge in our overcommitted world where often we are more focused on “making it through” than on “making it sacred.” We need regular soul wake-up calls and holy daily rhythms to live a life that feels good from the inside out, shines with meaning, and radiates joy.
In this refreshingly original invitation to soulful living, Farrell Mason speaks to the universal human navigating relationships, coping with change, rebounding from a setback or loss, finding peace, and prioritizing food, fellowship, faith, and regular joy. Soulfull offers balanced and creative ways to pull a little bit of heaven down to our patches of earth.
Whether you’re taking a walk in nature, reading a meditation on hope, finding comfort in a prayer, creating a sumptuous recipe for family and friends, or planting an herb garden, Soulfull is an adventure—a mothering toward new growth, an exploration of life-giving experiences, and a joyous resource to nourish your soul and welcome a life filled with more wonder, delight, and meaning.
Soulfull is a must-read for anyone who needs to be reminded of what really matters in life. Mason is a gifted writer who shines a light on how to live our lives with more meaning and purpose. Soulfull succeeds in helping us slow down, find joy in our lives, nurture our relationships and create a truly soulful life. I particularly loved Mason's delicious recipes (perfect roasted chicken, pesto and love muffins) and her advice to spend time in nature. This book is not a one-time read. It’s a daily guide with wonderful reflections, prayers and activities that will feed your heart, mind, body and spirit.
I was offered an advance copy on a day I was feeling more than a little blue. I replied instantly to the publisher - yes and how it arrived on just the right day. I love devotionals as they are inspirational supplements. Soulfull is just that! It feeds the soul with insights and wisdom which has been hard earned by Farrell Mason. I also look forward to checking out her podcast—Soulful 7 Conversations. And did I mention her recipes? Yes I’ll be trying those out as well! I look forward to reading more from this spiritually articulate author. Thank you for this!!
SOULFULL is a gift to anyone who wants to live with greater intention. Thoughtful, gentle yet honest, and beautiful, the book is a hand-holding reminder that while this is not always easy, it does not have to be difficult - that by simply paying attention to what is in front of us, daily life becomes more sacred. And while the beauty of daily life inspires, it often disappoints and it challenges, requiring a continual focus on the people and things that truly matter. The author brings us back to that place in this devotional, and feels like a friend because she is, whether you know her personally or not. While only privy to the first few chapters of SOULFULL, my soul, indeed, anticipates the chapters unread.
If you need a 2025 devo - get to ordering! I cannot recommend this book enough, it will be one I treasure forever❤️ Farrell does an incredible job of making every moment big or small - holy, matter, & honoring to the Lord. My deepest desires are woven in this entire book & she gives tangible thoughts on how to live deeply & richly.
I couldn’t help but read 1-3 of these devotions a day. Farrell’s book is full of her heavenly perspective on all the world throws at us. She’s as real, honest, and generous on these pages as she is in person. If you own a copy and haven’t started it, start now. If you don’t have a copy, do yourself a favor and get one now and start reading and praying.
I look forward to reading this again and again. Like a nourishing bowl of soup, this unique devotional contains many lovely ingredients. Each message includes Scripture, a quote, a poem/prayer, and a mouthwatering recipe or practice for "soulfull" living. Farrell is a kindred spirit and a gifted writer who has inspired me to live a bigger, deeper life.

This was a sweet devotional- simple and to the point each week. While the author said some good things and made some good points- our beliefs aren’t the same but I could understand what her objective was. What I enjoyed that I thought was unique compared to other devotionals I’ve read is that she includes recipes. There’s a cookie recipe I want to try to make and a spaghetti recipe in the back that sounds yummy. These quotes have stuck with me and of course she elaborates more in each section-if these speak to you as well then I would recommend picking this book up.
"Am I living the life I want to live?" The honest answer was, sometimes. Certainly not always. Sitting in the pew at a young friend's funeral, I realized I operated my life on the premise that there would always be more time. I see now how short the earthly stay truly is. I have to be more intentional with how I wish to live, what the poet Mary Oliver calls "(my)one wild and precious life”
“Hope is responsible for every brave, beautiful, and redemptive vignette of my life. Few things I know for certain, but I do know this: There is always hope.”
“The most successful human beings accept and then adapt to changing circumstances. And they do it again and again. God programmed us to evolve. Don't panic. Be patient. There is always a path forward, God promises it. Instead of avoiding, fighting, or running from change, mine the experience for clues as to what God wants you to see, do, and accomplish next. Beware of the ego. It gets in the way of enjoying the ride and slows our spiritual becoming. The ego fears what it cannot control.”

I love the delightful writing style and layout of the book. Farrell Mason’s personality shines through, and I can tell we’d be able to hang out. Like the author, cooking brings me immense joy. The anecdotes and illustrations are wonderful, and the prayers at the end of each devotion are a delicate touch.
However, the weekly devotional concept didn’t work for me; it was too easy to forget about it. Daily devotionals fit better into my routine. Despite this, I love her practical steps for getting through difficult times, the fun recipes, and the great anecdotes from her life and others.
Filled with excellent quotes and Scripture, there are too many references to Buddhist and New Age thought for my taste. The frequent mentions of “The Universe…” didn’t resonate with me.
Overall, Soulfull is a beautifully written and inspiring guide to living that invites you to slow down, reflect, and bring more meaning and joy into your daily life. 4 stars.

Soulfull is honest, relatable and healing for the reader and exactly what Farrell intended for it to be- a Devotional to Nourish. In reading her reflections of being "in and out of Eden" I found myself agreeing with every word. We are in and out of Eden daily. We are all human and find ourselves needing to be more or less of things, needing to be more still and present, needing grace and giving grace and so on and so on. For those of you that find comfort in literal food for the soul (like me) you will also be gifted with several of her nurturing recipes. She is a believer of food and community with family and friends and demonstrates that fellowship and spirituality can be achieved with a bowl of soup or a cup of tea. This is an honest account of a busy working mom and wife who loves the Lord and His gift of hope. She has experienced it firsthand in her own hardships and as she has walked intimately with others in their hardest times. She helps us not to forget to see the Hope in our everyday lives as simply put in nature. Her account of an eagle building its nest and relating it to our own life is beautiful. We can experience the gift of hope and His divine presence daily in our homes and simply on a walk but we just have to have our eyes and hearts open to the daily gifts from above. This is a beautiful honest account of finding hope and intimacy with the the Lord in our daily REAL lives. You will be blessed by this honest, beautiful and inspirational read there is no doubt!
Soulfull - by Farrell Mason The author begins the Introduction with a challenge: “Am I living the life I want to live?” Her honest answer was, “sometimes.” She senses deeply the “nudging for an answer. Intellectually, but more importantly, spiritually, I know the life I want to live - a loving, creative, adventurous one - of healthy curiosity.” “My own life is accepted imperfection. I know both the beautiful and the tragic. Knowing this, that imperfect lives can be holy, I seek a life that is wide, consequential and flushed with joy.” Further, she invites us to embrace life in all its complexity and beauty (which can be messy). The reward, however, is an unforgettable journey that shines with meaning and radiates joy.” For those of you who have followed Farrell for years through her BreadandHoney blog & Soulful 7 podcasts, but especially for newcomers to Farrell Mason, this book is a splendid encounter, a veritable Encyclopedia of Hope, of both her humanity and her theology. To the earlier reference of a “nudging”, I would suggest rather that this book is a full-throated “shout”, inviting you to join Farrell in a truly Soulfull adventure!
Soulfull is the perfect book for the perfect time. With the chaos and strife in our world, this is the kind of book that will calm your fears and recenter your soul in sync with your faith. Ms. Mason also requires us to hold ourselves accountable for our peace and joy. I guarantee I will purchase more than one copy of Soulfull to share as Christmas presents this year. If you buy ONE book this year to encourage yourself, this IS the book. #mediatation #bible #bibleverse #positivity #faith #resource #soul #comfort #growth #Soulfull @farrellmason_ @netgalley @convergent_books @penguinrandomhouse 😇

As one who has borne witness to the development of Farrell Mason's literary-theological imagination, I have been fortunate to be among the first readers of her manuscript, Soulfull: A Weekly Devotional to Nourish the Mind, Body, and Spirit. The volume is an incarnation of the author's interdisciplinary approach to the inexhaustible Mystery of the Divine. Reverend Mason encourages the reader to discover the holy in the "seemingly" ordinary; she dissolves the line of demarcation between the sacred and secular linguistic domains and invites us to cross the threshold into the sacred dwelling the American poet Emily Dickinson describes as "the house of possibility." Upon the occasion of her ordination to ministry, Reverend Mason was acknowledged by her clerical peers as "a healer," and this contribution to contemporary devotional literature is evidence of the healing power of words.
This book caught my eye because of the pretty cover art. "Soulfull: A Weekly Devotional to Nourish the Mind, Body, and Spirit", by Farrell Mason, is part Bible study and part lifestyle guide. Each weekly devotional includes a personal anecdote, devotional, meditation, and a recipe/yoga suggestion/stretching guide. It was easy to read and very helpful! If you're looking for a devotional that's not super heavy on Bible passages, this is your book!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

My heart, my eyes and even my taste buds have been opened up to beautiful Hope! I can’t wait to share Soul Full with my family, my Bible study and my friends! I know they will love it too! Jen
Farrell Mason has the uncanny ability to "nourish the mind, body, and spirit" to all of those around her and I've been awaiting the release of this book that I can use as a daily guide and reminder to use for my own personal adventure. There will be many more nature walks, lavender baths, and delicious food in my future and I can't wait for all to benefit from Mason's invitation to create "a more sacred, joy-filled, and hope-giving life."
When we are going through our sometimes joyful, sometimes difficult lives, we search for holy food that will nourish and encourage our souls. Not only does Farrell Mason's new book do that, but with honesty and humor, she gives us something to not only ponder, but to do. Whether it's a walk in the woods or a recipe to try, her weekly inspirations and prayers give us renewed hope for the days we face.
In this refreshingly original invitation to soulful living, Farrell Mason speaks to the universal human experience: navigating relationships, coping with change, rebounding from a setback or loss, finding peace, and prioritizing food, fellowship, faith, and regular joy. This is a unique way to look at journaling and to get more out of your life and journal. If you are looking for a different way to journal, then this is the book!

Through Convergent Books and Netgalley, I am reviewing Soulfull:
As an encyclopedia of hope and spiritual direction, Soulfull is a gentle nudge to reorient our intentions and want more for our one precious life.

Our souls crave authentic experiences, but finding them is a challenge in our overcommitted world where we are often more focused on “making it through” than “making it sacred.” To lead a life that feels good from the inside out, shines with meaning, and radiates joy, we need regular soul wake-up calls and holy daily rhythms.

Farrell is a master of words. Of Heart. And Soul. Everything I have read feels like chicken soup running into my belly and into my soul. A breath of fresh air, too. An honest account of living. No bows and whistles! Raw and Authentic ways of doing life in here!! May our world find more HOPE and LOVE from this author, whom I also call my friend!!
We all need a little moment to pause, reflect, and be grateful. Farrell Mason gives us this pause with a hearty laugh. Her writing is uplifting and her recipes delicious. Have you made the crepes yet!? They are divine. We like them with abricot jam. Ecclesiastical or not, this book is a great aide to reassess our daily lives, our priorities, and our goals. Or just simply to enjoy.
A delightful weekly devotional. Each day starts with an inspirational quote and biblical quote and then moves into the weekly devotion. Each devotion end with either recipes from the author or a suggestion to try. This can either be used sequentially or you can dip into it. A great resource that helps feed your mind body and spirit.
Soulfull provides a great glimpse into what we can all seek- the balance of an imperfect, real and messy life with the quest for present, intentional and hopeful living. It inspires by pointing the reader toward thoughtful questions about what it means to live meaningfully everyday.
Received an ARC through NetGalley. This was a sweet devotional. I found it to be simple and straightforward. The art was beautiful. It features weekly reflections, meditations, calming suggestions (such as yoga or recipes). It is Bible passage and theology light.
I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway.

This book is a balm to the soul! Something that I will keep close by and come back to again and again. And the recipes are delicious! I will be gifting this book to so many of my close friends.
SOULFULL is the book we all need by our bedside! It is the perfect guide to filling your daily cup with love, and most importantly hope!! Farrell Mason has created a journey for every reader to seek the beauty in life through nature, music, food, friends and more.
