This book really thought it was Saying Something but dear god, it was boring and badly written. On the other hand, I listened to the whole thing, so really, who is the idiot here?
What in the actual fuck did I just read?!? Please tell me it's supposed to be satire ? A parody of paranormal thrillers? It was very entertaining once I realised it wasn't going to be an actual thriller ( or a serious book whatsoever). I can't rate it for now, because if it's satire then it's 4/5 , if it's not, then it's... 2/5 lol (2 only because it was entertaining and it made me chuckle a few times. And I obviously finished it , so it wasn't too unbearable).
So, first half of the book was churning at a 4 star pace, then the second half turned into a 2 star over the top fever dream. Near the end, started to redeem itself again, but conclusion dropped it back down. Appreciate the imagination behind it and the point it was trying to make. A bit too on the nose at times.
So I won't say like many others this was "the worst book I ever read" I definitely think it should be considered horror! I did enjoy listening but towards the end it got a bit hard to follow! Solid 3 stars for me.
This is a fantastic read for October is you have a darker side. It seems like Shaw is making sure she doesn’t fall into a rut making each of her storylines extremely different than the last. While I hoped for a different direction, half way through, it would be a fun Halloween read!
I giggled quite a bit! However, I got a feeling I wasn't supposed to really. Anyway, I'm trying another of her books, "Did I Kill You?" .... I don't have high hopes but I'll try!
