In “Confessions,” best friends Nikki Truth and Trinette Montgomery’s lives are not exactly ideal. Nikki married her high school sweetheart Donovan. Years into their marriage, their happily ever after is now a thing of the past. It’s during Donovan’s deployment to Iraq that Nikki faces the harsh reality that her marriage is over and that it’s time to move on. Enter Kenyon Monroe, Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome.
Trinette is all about Trinette. Trinette is living the lavish life at the expense of others. She has a good, kind, loving husband that takes care of her, but that doesn’t stop her from doing her own thing with other men while hubby is away.
I won’t go beyond that and spoil the story. Just know that it’s worth it to read this engaging novel laced with drama to find out what happens in the lives of Nikki and Trinette. Author Sasha managed to create characters that are likeable, volatile and witty. Told in alternating chapters, the emotions of the characters infuse and drive the story.
Being from St. Louis, I had slight issues with some incorrect names (Webster Grove and St. Louis Bread Factory). Not sure if the author did it intentionally or if it was a mistake, but it was noted by this reader. Even so, it wasn't enough to distract from the strength of the read.
“Confessions” is amusing and delightful. Easily recommendable.
Excellent Book, review coming soon This was one of the best novels I've read this year!!
Nikki Truth is a radio personality and a book store owner, her husband Donovan is in Iraq, Donavon sends Nikki a letter informing her he thinks they should go their separate ways, and she meets Kenyon a widower, will he be Her Night In Shining armor or her worst nightmare?
Trinette Montgomery is Nikki childhoods friend, Trinette is only for herself, she been married to her husband Leon for 8 yrs, They have a strange relationship she lives of in St. Louis and he lives in Richmond. While living separate lives Trinette has several affairs with different men to get what she wants. Will her selfish ways be the downfall in her marriage?
This was my first time reading a book from this author, I love her writing style.
I really loved the friendship between Nikki and Trinette, they had a unbreakable bond.
I'm looking forward to reading more from this author
This book was full of Drama drama drama, Trinette and Nikki best friends both having relationship problems with their husbands. Trinette uses men for money and anything else they can give her, Nikki just wanted to be with the man that she has always loved and when he rejects her and pushes her in the arms of another men, she is in for a roller coaster ride.
THis book was awesome. I got caught up in the story and didn't want to put it down because the characters are so realistic. I know people here that think that way. Lord knows there are crazy-a men that can be wrapped in a pretty package until you drop them!
I loved Nikki and Trinette...well Nikki more. I couldn't put this book down with all the drama going on in each woman's life. Would love to see some sort of sequel.
I honestly would like to give this book a 4.5 stars. It has many twists and turns but to be honest the end result of the turns just didn't seem real to me. It may be just me being over critical but I'll still give Sasha her props. This was a good book.
It’s a new author on the scene and her name is Sasha Campbell, she’s getting down and showing her talent in her story Confessions. In Confessions the characters Trinette and Nikki grows larger, stronger and more impressive along with the success that have down falls. Both ladies are married and fighting off the demons to keep the union together, the battle gets very rough as the story is told.
Trinette life starts off rough from her childhood with her mother neglect and her uncle molesting her at a young age. As time goes on in Trinette adulthood the table turns for the good, Leon comes in her life and they become a union. All the walking in the dark over the years with her blinders on contributes to not truly seeing the love and kindness of a good man. Trinette is not deprived at all she’s a very well educated social worker with degrees but is dumb in the relationship department. The road of destruction is underneath her feet and she not knowing until the love of her life Leon had enough of her mess she keep dishing out. The truth of the matter comes to the light and someone is out to get her, but will Trinette be able to save herself and her union?
Nikki is this hot radio host that solves everyone problems but her own. Nikki and Donovan is a union that takes a turn for the worst when their baby girl is killed. Instead of facing the problem in their lives they go on day to day like nothing had happen and it slowly peels the layers away of the hurt of blame of the death. The letters of Nikki to Donovan in Iraq gets lost that leads to giving up on one another to the point of talking about the big D. As time goes on Nikki meets the man name Kenyon and let him know off hand that she’s a married lady, he comes off as this gentleman that understands and just want to be there for her. The smooth operator fools the hell out of me once Nikki and Donovan decides to give their union another try. That’s when Satan shows up and the fire of hell opens up to destroy Nikki world. Will Nikki world go up in flames or will she be able to conquer Satan?
I highly recommend this book to all readers; this is a master piece you could enjoy in one sitting. The pages turns and pulls you into the lives of normal everyday people that make you say hmmm… The author was kind enough to send us a copy.
Confessions started off kinda slow, but definitely picked up and was really good!
This story is about two best friends, Nikki and Trinette. Trinette is married to a good man, Leon, but they don't live together because he has a job in another state. Trinette is basically one of those "all about the money" women and will sleep with any man that will give her that money. She was really making me mad throughout the beginning of the story because she was basically acting like a straight up 'ho, but she does come to realize the error of her ways, but that's only after she loses Leon. Pure example of someone not knowing what they've got until it's gone.
While Trinette's story was interesting, I was much more intrigued with Nikki's. Nikki is also married, but her husband Donovan is away at war, and they've drifted apart in their marriage. Donovan sends her a letter saying it's best that they just move on with their lives. Nikki is devastated for awhile, until she meets the sexy and fine Kenyon. He seems like a dream come true, but of course you can't judge a book by it's cover. Kenyon proves to be straight up stalker crazy. Some of the things he was doing and saying, and Nikki and Trinette's reactions to him, had me cracking up at some parts.
I give this book 4 stars because it definitely kept me entertained. It started off slow and there were a few parts that I didn't like (mostly the parts involving Nikki's radio talk show host job) but other than that, I recommend it.
Nikki Truth is the boisterous voice of HOT 97 WJPC, with all of the sound advice on how to make a relationship work or how to end it. Too bad she's not listening to her own words as she is estranged from her husband, Donovan. When a letter comes saying that they should just go their separate ways, Nikki is distraught. Though she knows that their marriage is in trouble, she'd hoped for the best. When she meets a new guy, Kenyon, who is attentive to all of her needs, Nikki believes that she's been blessed with a second chance. That is until Donovan makes his way back from Iraq with the intents on putting their lives back in order. Will Nikki choose her marriage or her newfound boo?
Trinette Montgomery is married to a successful man who travels a lot. Luckily he's lives in Richmond, VA, and Trinette in St. Louis, MO. She's able to live a single life twenty-nine days a month, enjoying risqué affairs without fear of being found out. When Leon, her husband, has finally had enough of her spoiled and selfish ways, Trinette is forced to take a long look in the mirror. While she may be fabulous on the outside, her traumatic childhood is dictating her life. Can she finally put the past behind her and work on her restoring her self worth?
CONFESSIONS by Sasha Campbell is fabulous! I love the friendship between the two and the way in which the characters grow, especially Trinette.
What a drama filled book! This is a very urban story of love, marriage, psychos, and friendship. I listened to this on audio book and that really made it feel real! The book switches points of view between 2 best friends. Tranet and Nikki have been friends for a long time but as the story progresses so does the drama. The beginning of this book started off kind of "not my type of book" but soon the plot warmed up and I was entertained and became fully engrossed in the characters and their decisions on relationships and problems. Most parts of the book I didn't understand the behavior behind the characters and later I just took it for what it was without worrying "do people really think and act this way?" . It has lots of funny moments and of course very adult content but overall it was an okay read.
This book was laugh out loud funny in some places. The story was about two friends, Nikki and Trinette. I couldn't stand Trinette for a majority of the book because of her antics and the blatant disrespect of her marriage. The book was typical in the fact that she got what was coming to her but then a revelation occurred.
Poor Nikki was a radio personality giving advice but her personal life was a mess. Her husband mails her a break up letter to her job! She then decides to date and the guy turns out to be unstable.
It was a nice read. I would have liked for the author to delve more into some of the topics discussed in the book. Overall, decent read and I will read more from this author.
I really enjoyed this book! Trinette was off the chain! The things she endured as a child had her mindset as an adult screwed up. She married a good man but didn't know how to appreciate him or the love he was giving her. Her friend Nikki who has a radio talk show, had a cray-cray stalker on her hand! After receiving a letter from her husband, which was written when he was mad, cause he hadn't heard from her, is what made her start dating pschyo Kenyon who was one of her faithful radio listeners she named Mr.Loser. You have to read this book to enjoy the excitement of every twist and turn. I was so tempted to flip to the end to see what happens but I just kept reading. Lol Look forward to reading another one of her books!
Good Read Best friends Nikki & Trinette. In the beginning I wanted Trinette lose everything to me was selfish the way she cheated on husband & she was money hungry if the money was right she would do anything but I'm glad change her life around & lucky to still have Leon. Nikki she finally got crazy ass Kenyon locked up before he killed her because if couldn't have no one else will & he knew she married she wanted her married to work glad everything worked out her. This book will have you wanting more.
I really enjoyed this novel. it was excellent, so much drama. The characters had so many issues that needed to be worked out. Kenyon was certifiably cra cra. Great plot, story had me up reading into the night and finishing this morning. I was really hoping Nikki and Donovan and Trinette & Leon got it together. Glad how it all ended! Great job Sasha Campbell and thanks to my ship Yolanda K for recommending it. I look forward to the next novel!
Best friends Nikki and Trinette are going thru ups and downs. Without giving the book away, they both are having marital problems and didn’t really seem to be best friends as the author tried to portray them to be. I read Suspicions first by this author and found that this book was a little better.
I liked this book as well. I enjoy Sasha's writting style.
I was able to "forsee" somethings however she did throw some curve balls in there! Which I love because I hate reading a book and already figuring out everything before I finish. All in all a good and easy read. Had a good moral to the story as well.
This book was way out there! The character Trinette and Kenyan were the two that were way out there doing things they shouldn't have been doing. When love plays in the mix, it takes a lot of it to forgive those who hurt you. This is a book that I recommend to others!
A little busy with characters but it kept my attention with the drama these two friends seemed to constantly carry with them. They definitely had a penchant for attracting crazy fools. Good thing they had each other to be there when the "ish hit the fan".
Overall I thought it was a good book. The story kept my attention. I liked the relationship between the ladies that were best friends. The only draw back for me was the language too much profanity.
By “for what it is,” I mean it’s just a story that doesn’t necessarily cause you to think to deeply. This book does touch on some pretty heavy topics like drug addiction and mental illness; however, those topics aren’t necessarily the focus.
For the most part, Confessions is a tale about relationships. It’s about marriage and infidelity, familial relationships, collegial relationships, etc. The main characters, best friends Nikki and Trinette, have two very different philosophies on love. Nikki is married to her first love, Donovan, but things are on the rocks. Trinette is married to Leon but acts as though she is single (part of her trauma response from not so good childhood relationships), hopping from man to man aka “sponsors.”
I will say that it took about 1/2 the book for things to speed up. When they did, I didn’t want to put it down. I did not see the LMN ending coming and rolled my eyes a few times at the plot twist. Again, solid 3.5 ⭐️.
