Featuring archival photographs of the Reagan family along with insightful text, this book is the ultimate commemorative edition to mark the one hundredth anniversary of President Reagan’s birth. It offers an intimate, insider’s glimpse of the life and legacy of America’s most beloved leader.
The book is largely a visual representation of Ronald Reagan who is one of the most revered leader to walk this planet.
This book provides blurbs, along with the pictures, on President Reagan’s life as an sports broadcaster, actor, governor and as the president of the United States.
It is a nice addition to the coffee table or a gift for a Reganite. I hope to read his autobiography in the near future.
Chock full of great insight into the life of President Reagan in an easy to read style with photos on virtually every page. Put this on the Christmas list for any Reaganites in the family!
Lots of interesting historical pictures. Seems like Reagan was one if the best loved persons in every situation he was in. Book was short, but nice to read something positive in our current corona virus and presidential election.
Did you know that before Ronald Reagan was president, he had a job as an actor? The book I'm reading is an autobiography about Ronald Reagan called Ronald Reagan 100 years. I'm going to say this now, the "100 years" in the title is not how old he was. Its about his journey to make it to the big time leader of the USA, so it's non-fiction. His movie was called Hellcats of the Navy. It is a big, blue hardcover book. It's a cool book because it can tell you a variety of things about him.
This book was written by Senator Howard H. Baker, Jr. I thought this book would be incredibly boring considering that it was about politics, but when I started reading it was really interesting. Better yet, Ronald Reagan's life was interesting, he was as exiting as a monkey riding a unicycle while juggling bowling pins. There were many interesting things that I never knew, for example, he used to play football at Eureka collage, be captain in the drum section for band, his mom, Nelle Wilson Reagan, and dad's, John Edward Reagan, name, and that he had an older brother named John Neil Reagan, his birthday, and what his name was really supposed to be. (Which was actually Donald Reagan.)
It's weird because the first one to say he would be a president was, not his mom, but his dad. He was married to a woman named Nancy Davis in 1952. He was also a lifeguard at the Rocky River, circa 1931, for seven summers. He was surprisingly a life saver in those 7 memorable summers. In total he saved 77 people. Not only did he play football but he also played basketball for Motion Picture Unit Basketball Team, Fort Roach, circa 1943. What an athlete! He was as athletic as a pro sports team all on a sugar rush.
To top that all, he was the 40th president of the United States of America. Inaugurated on Jan. 20, 1981, Ronald Reagan, an aspiring athlete and actor, made it to the White House, just like his father said the day he was born. I'm my opinion, he was one of the greatest presidents of our nation and our country.
In my opinion, this book was the most interesting non-fiction books I have ever read on my life, so far, but this book is usually read by people who watch news or listen to politics. I read this book because my dad told me too, but after I read it, I thanked him because it was so interesting. Even as a young reader I like this book. I think this book is for anybody wether It's 9-17 or even 18-75. If you want to read about a president I highly recommend you read this Ronald Reagan 100 years.
Synopsis from B&N: February 6, 2011, marked the one hundredth anniversary of Ronald Reagan's birth. Known as 'the Great Communicator,' Ronald Reagan combined the best of small-town values and remarkable virtues with the eloquence and charm that came from a life spent in the public eye. As governor of California, Reagan earned the respect of world leaders and the American public. But it was as president of the United States that his strength of character, leadership, and love of country were best displayed. His eight years in the Oval Office ushered in remarkable change domestically and brought international peace, prosperity, and freedom.\nIll admit it, I was a toddler and in elementary school while Reagan was president. So I dont personally recall a lot of what happened; I wasnt big into politics when I was 9. ? However, every time Ive heard something about him or watched bits of speeches he gave, I am inspired. He was a true American leader; a president working for the people. \nI love that he came from humble beginnings and was not a career politician. I knew that he had been an actor, but his careers in sports broadcasting, as governor of California, and as a host for GE and other television shows I was unaware of.\nThe book was both informational and entertaining. It was easy to read, and I loved all the pictures.\nAnd, while the book didnt focus much on Mrs. Reagan, Nancy was one classy lady. \nAfter reading this I am interested to read both Reagans autobiography and his letters to his wife.\nHis terms as president was a good time in Americas history. He accomplished what he had set out to do. And that in itself is a feat.\n\n
This is a coffee table book, so, it is kind of what it's expected to be, a bit overly favorable to the subject. It contains a simple review of Reagan's life from the early days all the way to the end. It is full of great pictures and quotes from Reagan. I picked up a couple things I never knew, and it was good to review his life in the context of many of the new perspectives I've gained over the last year or so. I've become so strongly libertarian in my political philosophy that I often wonder if I would've supported Reagan. I still think so. He was a decent man who wasn't perfect, but certainly one of the better Presidents we've had in our history. If you're a fan of Reagan this is a great addition to your library.
Primarily a pictorial history of Reagan's life and Presidency. Not much text, but what is there is surprisingly balanced an fair-minded for a book published by a presidential library. In fact, it is much more balanced and fair-minded that the New York Times, Washington Post, CBS, NBC, ABC, or virtually any other exemplar of the mainstream press.
I have read many, many books on my favorite president, Ronald Reagan. This book does not have much if any new information, but it does have some wonderful pictures. If you are a Ronald Reagan fan I highly recommend adding this book to your library. This book is put out by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation.
A quick read that is light on details yet paints a picture of a former President. This isn't going to add any significant insight into his life or career, but should be a good primer for those starting into his history.
A wonderfull tribute to one of the greatest of Presidents. I didn’t vote for him as a brash 18 year old know-it-all in 1980 but grew to admire, respect and love him as a great leader. And yes, I did vote for him in 1984!
This is very interesting so far. Todd saw it sitting on the counter and started reading it too. His comment was "you're going to like this book". And I do.
This is propaganda! The chapter names are things like: Lifesaver, Peacemaker, etc. and it says almost nothing about the attempted assassination, Iran Contra, or anything negative.
