Eine hervorragende Essay-Sammlung, die es einem erlaubt, vor dem Hintergrund des Holodomor, der im 2. Weltkrieg und danach in der Ukraine verübten Verbrechen sowie der Katastrophe von Tschornobyl das am Ukrainischen Volk verübte Leid viel besser nachzuvollziehen.

Der aktuell stattfindende, barbarische Völkermord russlands in der Ukraine erscheint nach dieser Lektüre umso schrecklicher und lässt russland im geschichtlichen Kontext alles andere als gut dastehen.

Sehr empfehlenswert! Die 2022er Ausgabe enthält ein aktualisiertes Vorwort zum Angriffskrieg russlands in der Ukraine.

Interessante Bausteine zur Entwicklung der Ukraine oder besser zum geschichtlichen Hintergrund, zur Lebenswelt derer, die dort schon Generationen verbracht haben. Mir fehlt die Verbindung zwischen den einzelnen Teilen, aber das war in dieser Form wohl nicht vorgesehen.
