2.5-3 stars. There isn't anything particularly WRONG with this workbook, but I don't think it's worth the price tag. And at only around $10 I think that is saying something. If you have 10 bux and you want to practice reading and writing Hiragana and Katakana, I think you should pass this by and choose "Japanese Hiragana & Katakana for Beginners: First Steps to Mastering the Japanese Writing System". First, that book is just a lot thicker than JfBP:Kana Workbook, and due to that get more reading and writing practice. Second, it comes with a CD filled with flash cards and extra writing practice, so you REALLY get your money's worth.

The only thing the JfBP:Kana workbook has that might be helpful is more complex sentence structure using the same vocabulary and particles that the JfBP textbooks use. If you are in a class that uses this series, this isn't a terrible choice if you want more practice (and that is why I gave it 3 stars) I just happen to think there are better books out there for the same price.
