This is my favorite book on Victorian architecture. The photographs are drool worthy and it features a wide variety of Victorian styles such as Queen Anne, Second Empire, Stick, Eastlake, Gothic Revival, Italianate, and even Octagon.
This book really helped me learn the various Victorian styles because it highlights the architectural style and features of each building in the description. It also showcases many boutique and period appropriate exterior color schemes.
I highly recommend it for all lovers of Victorian architecture and those that are in the process of restoring a Victorian era home. If either of those sound like you then you are bound to be inspired by the many stunning homes which are chronicled in this book.
I will say this, I only checked this out of my library because I wanted to make some of these houses in the Sims, yes a crazy concept, but I love the game. It was also great to see how much history is behind a lot of these homes.
A very useful and informative source if you are living in a Victorian house and hope to renovate it to its original painted splendor. This book is full of wonderful photographs that give color choice examples and ideas. Separated into the distinct types of Victorian architecture and geographical regions of the United States, this book will amaze you at the beautiful and colorful options available.
