Have you lived, and loved, before? It is a question journalist Emily Reidell has never asked herself. Until her fiance, psychiatrist Nick Turner, is killed just days before their wedding. It is then that she discovers Nick's strange legacy to her: the case history of a patient known only as "Clare."

Under hypnosis Clare tells of meeting a soul mate in six different lifetimes across 3,500 years of history. In sleep, she dreams repeatedly of a man's hand offering her a blue-green stone.

Is Clare's case proof of past lives, or are her recollections merely "healing fictions: fanciful stories that make their own cure? Only after traveling Clare's labyrinth of love does Emily received the profound message Nick wished her to have — a message that shatters the bonds of time.

“Traveling leaves you speechless. Then it turns you into a storyteller.”

After twenty years in the advertising business in L.A., followed by several years in "rural rehab", Joan M. Sargent, remembering her English degree from UC Berkeley, tried her hand at fiction.

The result was the award-winning novel Turkoise, a love story spanning 3,500 years.

"It is my hope that my stories inspire you to set out on journeys to discover the places that spark your own inner muse. They could be as far away as the other side of the world, or as close as the street where you live."

I won this amazing book on the goodreads giveaway. Whether you believe in past lives or not you can't help, to be drawn into the story.

When Emily's fiance, Nick, is killed on the eve of their wedding she feels her life is over. Then she discovers of a package from Nick addressed to her. The package contains the transcripts from his work with one of his patients called "Clare." These records tell of past lives Clare believes she's lived and of a soul mate that has been with her in each. Emily feels that Nick left these for her to organize and publish, but could there be more? Are these proof that we have past lives? Or is there something more profound that Nick was trying to share with Emily?

This is a beautifully written book. It was also the first novel by Joan M. Sargent. I can't wait to read her next novel.

I don't read many historical fiction books because I haven't found many that have interested me. This one did.
After losing her fiance a few days before her wedding,Emily was devastated. She then found an envelope that contained her love's legacy to her. It contained clinical notes from one of his patients. By following the stories contained in the envelope finally understands the message that Nick was trying to give her.
This was a giveaway book from Goodreads and I am very glad to have recieved it!

This book is completely different than anything I've ever read before. And I loved it!! There was a great message of how love can last through centuries and hardships. I felt a true inner connection to the story and hope that I can someday have a love that strong!!!! Granted, major events go by really fast in the beginning, but once I got to the further in the book I could NOT put it down! Excellent book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone hoping for an innovative love story with a good message!

A stunning book about a romance that occurs through a eries of past lives and past worlds ... so well researched, yet you don't feel burdened by the author's research. Rather, she is able to so convincingly create another time and place you feel you are there, experiencing love and earth-shattering events just as they actually happened. Edge-of-the-seat, page-turning romance ... with no idea how it is all going to turn out until the very end. A stunning book.
