As a lifelong Pennsylvanian, I’ve (Ruth Price) had a unique opportunity to meet Amish folks in my everyday life. It’s a delight to get to know a culture and people who may have a different way of living but share a common love of God and a common belief in the goodness of other human beings. I try to channel this higher good through my fiction, and while I can’t say I always reach that ideal, I hope my stories inspire and entertain. Love boos about the Amish community. This was a great mystery and I didn't see the ending until I read it I will be reading more books by these two authors.
Amish girl Susie always knew her best friend Salome was not content with Amish life and would probably choose differently when given the chance... But she never really believed that Salome would run away and tell no one of her whereabouts... but then one day, 5 years ago, she really truly disappeared with no trace of her. Susie, after marrying her husband, and now pregnant with her first child, is determined to get to the bottom of what really happened to her friend Salome ??? Did she run off on her own... did Beanpole, the town weirdo who had a huge crush on Salome, take her against her will... or did harm come to her from those Englisher boys she was seen flirting with? This book was written by 2 new authors for me and I think they captured my attention and did a good job at keeping the suspense going. Looking forward to read the sequel.
I read a lot of Amish books because they are hopeful but this one wasn’t. When I read The Amish Bishop Mysteries by Vanzetti Chapman even though there was murder and mayhem there was light and love and warmth. This was also true of Hearse and Buggy the first book in a series by Laura Bradford. While the plot of Missing was good it just lacked the overall hopefulness and joy that I expect from an Amish story.
I had never read from Ruth Price but now that I have, I will definitely read more! This story was so good! Surprisingly for a short read it Kept me guessing til right at the end and mysteries hardly surprise me. It had suspense, heartwarming times and of course mystery. Thanks so much Ruth! I highly recommend. Can't wait to start the next one! .
Fast paced but ended too soon!😁 The characters were complex and yet very believable. This was a different story since the main characters were married, I enjoyed the change of pace.
Missing by Ruth Price is one of the best and most authentic Amish mysteries I have read. I grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch country and I recommend it for any fan of traditional mysteries.
This was gripping, engrossing, and even chilling! I thought it was a great storyline, but I had a hard time with going back and forth in time. But that pulled heart strings.
This was a very disappointing book. In my opinion it was poorly written. I normally like a back & forth timeline but this was very choppy. Characters not well developed. Worst of all the major plot issues, (who done it) were never completely resolved. Considering how short it was, author could have ended the story less abruptly.
I loved the mystery Amish style even though I guessed it I read until the end. They said he killed her, I didn’t see it as murder, he is sick, maybe while defending her against that boy she was in the way. Can’t wait to read the other book just to see how it happened. Good book very different.
Anticlimactic and abrupt ending. Good and interesting storyline though. Too much unresolved at the end of the story. Liked the past/present to pull the story beautifully together.
I never was really clear what happened to the missing girl. We figured out who but not how or why. The format also was a little muddied by constantly jumping back and forth along the timeline.
Believable touching characters with whose feelings and emotions by can relate to. A delightful read filled with intrege, mystery and unanswered questions.
I really enjoyed reading Amish Mysteries I love reading Amish Books but this is my first Amish Mystery I really enjoyed reading this one I will start to read more Amish Mystery books.
This book was ok, but the author is no Beverly Lewis or Linda Costello. I love Amish stories, but this one was not that well written and was just okay.
