Major illnesses, bad relationships and their subsequent divorces, natural disasters, and even the death of my own mother at an unfortunate age. Each of these events has taught me a lesson. And sadly, sometimes those lessons needed to be repeated a few times before they finally and ultimately stuck. And sometimes, even more sadly, those lessons remained just outside of my grasp. These are some of my tales, plus the stories of others who have had to face the unfaceable, yet somehow found the strength to push forward, and to even thrive.
Rick Higgins was born in April of 1961 in Alexandria Virginia. His first offering in the realm of paperback and eBooks (Letters to a Dead Uncle) came after years of being an online blogger and storyteller. Many a reader stated that he should write for a living, so he thrust his toes into the waters of traditional publishing with his first novel, only with a twist on how a travel novel should be written and presented.
The author's home, at least as of the time of this writing, is in South Florida, where he lives the tiny home life on the shores of the Florida Bay. But with most everything else in his world, that location may very well have changed by now. Several times.
He is an avid scuba diver, motorcyclist, and volunteer. And of course, a traveler.
His blog, ThePirateWanderer.com, is where you will find more stories, photos, and essays of his adventures.
