CLARE: Clare of the Abbey hoped to marry the Lord of Wickerly Castle until word came that he was dead. So with no reason to stay, she went to Scotland with her sister and did not speak of her grief. But her uncommon beauty tempted all the Highlander men and soon the jealous unmarried women were demanding she choose a husband. He was not dead, but could the man she loved find her before it was too late?
DOLEE: After three years of marriage, Dolee desperately wanted to give her husband a son. She tried every remedy anyone suggested including potions that made her deathly ill. At last there was no other option -- Dolee would have to try the one thing that might cost her everything, including her life.
CATLIN: Known as Bridget Cameron, Catlin’s mother was adamant -- if ever Catlin heard the name “Charlet,” she was to go straight away to find Laird Neil MacGreagor. Now her mother was dead and the English were searching for Charlet. But who was Charlet and why had the English put a bounty on her head? The answer left Catlin speechless.
LASHA: As the sister of a laird, Lasha Haldane knew she was expected to marry within her small clan. But one look at the handsome Cowan MacGreagor tempted her otherwise. Then a Haldane asked for her hand and the decision could no longer be put off. Would Lasha follow her heart or would she choose to please her beloved brother?

another enjoyable set of 4 stories about 4 lasses in Scotland which all blend together so it is like reading one book. Her books are cheap on Amazon kindle, and I bought all of the Scotland ones.
This review is generic across all Talbott's Viking and Highlander books (so if you look for my review of another in this series you'll just see this).
Talbott has done a superb job of recreating the environment and culture of medieval Scotland and Northern England in these two series. No explicit sex and no gratuitous violence (though there is violence appropriate to the time and place of the novels). Perfect romantic historic fiction with enough swashbuckling tension to appeal to almost anyone. While I am well past adolescence (nearly to senescence), I believe YA readers looking for an entertaining read would like these novels as much as I did.
I was sad with Anna and Kevin’s deaths. Sween was a monster as was Mungo but he sure got his 😂😂. Neil was their savior. He figured it all out and made his clan whole again. Glenna was good for him and Leeesil. On to the next book. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜
I admit it; I’m addicted to the Highlander series!
Ms. Talbott has a wonderful way of weaving the story of one character into the story as a whole. These books may be short stories of single individuals but the same characters are threaded through each of the shorts and I couldn’t be more pleased!
Series 2 is about four women: Maree, Gillie, Jessup and Glenna.
Maree was born a MacGregor. She was the story teller whom all the children, and even the adults, loved.
Gillie was born a despised MacDonald yet she helped the MacGregor escape their clutches.
Jessup was born an English gentle lady so why did they find her beaten and tied to a tree?
Glenna was born a Larmont far from the MacGregor homeland so how did she end up married to their Laird?
The Highlander Series does not disappoint. Each short story is a quick read and wholly entertaining by itself. When you put them together you get a fuller picture of the people and the clan.
I am on the third book in Marti's Highlander series and I enjoy them immensely. I'm not going to do a synopsis on them as that has been done already. However, this I 'll say: Marti draws characters that you will love to love and some that you will love to hate but that's as it should be. I appreciate that she writes clean romance /adventure without the smut and gore that's so common in fiction today. If I was to offer one criticism it would be this: Please can the characters stop rolling their eyes!!! It gets very annoying after the third or fourth time and such a shame that it seems a trait they're passing on from generation to generation. Some more descriptive body language would be much appreciated! Other than that I enjoy this series and love the fact that I have about a dozen more to read :)
I will admit it--I am hooked on this series. I am on my fourth reread of this entire series, and I decided that I really should take a moment and leave reviews for the series of books that have stolen my heart.
Ms. Talbott writes in such a way as to immediately draw you in, and once you are in, you are hooked. This book is a collection of four novella-length stories, each focusing on a different unmarried lass who finds happiness with the MacGregors.
You will laugh. You will cry. And you will find yourself curling over the book and urging yourself to read faster because you just have to know what happens next.
You really need to grab this series, but that's just my two-cents.
Marti's stories are intriguing. Wish they were a little longer but into the next book of the series you still keep up with the characters from the previous book. A nice clean romance where you feel the passion but don't read explicit details. There is intrigue and page turning action. Each book has been GREAT!
Another page Turner! I am in love with these books and learning about the clans. Life would be simpler if we continued some of these same strategies today.
