It's not a book, it's not a pamphlet. It's a sort of in depth doctor's handout which tries to predict the FAQ which results in the paragraph "The fermentation of fiber and carbohydrates by bacteria produces large quantities of gas. The more fiber and complex carbohydrates eaten, the more bacteria and the larger the volume of gas produced. Fiber holds water, so a high-fiber diet also leads to larger volumes of feces as well as a greater production of valuable organic acids. Eating more fiber helps prevent the small hard feces that occur in constipation."

So that's basically all you need to know - eating fiber and carbs makes you fart, you have to eat fiber and carbs, you have to fart. They get to this on page 4, and go on about it for 86 pages, if you include the short, incomplete list of euphemisms for "fart" and the the five page glossary.

Scintillating reading, I assure you.

A couple more interesting things I picked up include:

People seem genetically predisposed to have colonies of different types of digestive bacteria, and that's why some people's farts smell like rotten eggs and some don't - there is a bacteria for breaking down sulphur compounds.

Your poop should float. If it doesn't, you're not drinking enough water and eating enough fiber. This ls likely leading to colon cancer. Cut it out.

(Tshirt - "Piss Clear Float Poop"). Nurses and doctors will love it!
