Phil Lynott's Thin Lizzy brought an amalgam of hard rock, glam, drugs and a rock 'n' roll lifestyle together resulting in some of the finest pop songs of their era. Former band members and associates tell the full story, from the early days in Ireland, their peak with the multi-platinum Live and Dangerous album and Lynott's sad drug-related demise.
Must be the definitive publication for all fans of Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy, written by a dedicated follower Alan Byrne, who describes the book as a labour of love. The complete biography of both Lynott and the many musical collaborations he was involved in as well as the various 'Lizzy' line-ups through the years. I had some difficulty keeping up with the chronology through the early parts of the story but there is little doubt that Byrne has assembled a full and comprehensive tribute to the recordings, tours and incarnations of the life and works of Philip Parris Lynott. Prior to his 'poptastic' adventures, in the early 70's I used to bump into Lynott every now and then when I lived in Whalley Range, Manchester, just round the corner from his mother's Clifton Grange Hotel. We always acknowledged each other with a nod and a smile. RIP Phil.
