Noriaki Kubo, known professionally as Tite Kubo ( 久保帯人), is a Japanese manga artist and character designer. His manga series Bleach (2001–2016) had over 130 million copies in circulation as of 2022.
The amount of twists and turns this volume has is truly outstanding! The reader cannot lose focus even for a second to not be lost on the events. You might think that you know what will happen, that things will be predictable, but you're wrong. Tite Kubo, a genius that he is, creates his story beautifully and carefully like a compositor creates his music. It's a top notch entertainment!
"What is this?" "Hyôten Hakkasô. Anything that the snow touches instantly freezes into the shape of a flower. By the time a hundred flowers have blossomed... your life will have disappeared."
Hitsugaya ends his fight spectacularly. Hallibel is now locked in an ice cage, so it seems like one enemy is down. Meanwhile, Omaeda very clumsily plays a role of a decoy to keep Barragan busy while Soi Fon prepares her ultimate attack. At the first sight, it looks like her plan works. Now the only one standing is the no. 1 Espada, Stark. His fight against Kyoraku didn't seem serious in the slightest. Both men clearly hates fighting, so they avoided going full power against each other. But things suddenly changed. Kyoraku let's go of his beloved cloak and Stark summons Lilinette. Everything seems to get quite well for the Soul Reapers side until a crack shows up in the sky.
This is the time to I would normally start panicking, because with the new addition in the battle the fallen Espadas come back and the captains start to lose. But since I knew what will happen, instead of being terrified for all of my favorite characters, all I felt was excitement.
"It's been a long time. Anybody wanna say hi to the Thirteen Court Guard Companies?"
The Vizards are finally back!! They are finally here which means that everything's gonna be alright!!
The amount of both happiness and relief I have felt when I saw the image of Shinji's smile is truly beyond description. I missed these guys so much! I remember how I cried when I saw their entrance for the first time in the anime. The amount of emotions I have felt when Shinji approached Genryuusai or Lisa approached Kyoraku (especially because of Lisa) was so awesome. And in the manga, IN THE MANGA HISAGI SENSED KENSEI! He was laying down after the beating he got from Ayon (like the other lieutenants), but opened his eyes immediately when Kensei had shown up. I screamed when I saw it in the manga, because it didn't happen in the anime! The Hisagi/Kensei reunion is something I have missed terribly in the anime version. Don't get me wrong, I was dying of happiness because of Lisa and Kyoraku, but the Hisagi/Kensei reunion was something I was looking forward the most. Luckily the disappointed was quickly overshadowed by other things, but I did felt disappointment nonetheless. I'm so happy that it has it's place in the manga! Can I get more? Am I even in a position to request more? Because I need more 😭
"Shinji Hirako. Can we consider you our allies for now?" "What do you think? Of course not. We're not your allies. We're Aizen's enemies. And... Ichigo's ally.".
SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP
First of all, the fact that Shinji mentioned Ichigo's name gives me life. Second of all, the fact that they do not consider themselves the allies of the Soul Reapers, but the allies of Ichigo, also gives me life. It looks like Ichigo is the glue that holds everyone together. He's the sun and everyone else are the planets that move around it. How freaking awesome is this?! And what's most important is that we finally got the Soul Reapers and the Vizards reunion! We know that they know each other, or at least some of them know each other. Before the Hollow incident, Lisa was Kyoraku's lieutenant. Shinji was Aizen's captain. Love, Rose and Kensei were Gotei 13's captains and Hiyori, Mashiro and Hachi were the lieutenants. They were missing for how long? A hundred years or even more? They were carrying their need of revenge for so long and the time had finally come.
"Well? We've gotten pretty good at controlling our hollowfication, haven't we... Aizen?"
With all three strongest Espadas free once again, with the three treacherous captains also free and with the addition of Wonderweiss and other things, the war starts once again. Not every hero is standing. Not only the lieutenants are down, some of the captains as well. And the ones who are still standing, are in a very bad shape. We have the Vizards now, but, at the same time, the enemy seems to be stronger than ever. Who knows what tricks they still have upon their sleeve. With the focus being put on the events happening in the Karakura Town, there wasn't any time to see what is going on in Hueco Mundo. We know that Ichigo won his fight. Ulquiorra is no longer a threat. But Yammy is still out there. Will Ichigo somehow go out of the Hueco Mundo and join the war before everyone's gonna be killed? We will see soon!
Some of my thoughts while reading (beware of the spoilers)
~ I admire Lilinette for her stubbornness in the "fight" against Ukitake. She had absolutely no chance, but kept on trying. Even Ukitake, her opponent, cheered for her 😂 ~ "You're good at running for a chunk of meat." "S-Shut up! You're just jealous because you're a skeleton!" LMAO 🤣 ~ Soi Fon's Bankai is impressive by both the looks and the power, but let's face it, it's not the best of weapon for a fight. ~ I find very interesting that Stark, who represents solitude in Espada, shares his Hollow powers with another being, Lilinette. They are like two bodies, but having the same soul. It's both fascinating and sad, because they seem like they have company in each other, but they are actually the same person. ~ "Your Bankai shouldn't be done where everybody can see it." - what did Ukitake mean by that?! I'm super curious about Kyoraku's Bankai now! How powerful he actually is?? ~ The moment where Kyoraku's whole demeanour changed after Wonderweiss'es attack on Ukitake 😨 ~ "Stay there! I'll show you how strong I've become!" - I remembered that Kyoraku once called Lisa his daughter and now I can't stop crying 😭 ~ Mashiro killing the monster with only one kick?! How freaking awesome! ~ Did I said how incredible the twists and turns are in this volume already? Because they are truly incredible!!
I think it suffices to say that the arrival of the Vizards to this giant chess game makes things much more exciting. The whole arc is focused on introducing the brand-new matchups against the Arrancars.
It's fun, this time around, to see how mangaka Tite Kubo mixes humour into such serious battles too. Oh, and the action sequences continue to be stunningly drawn.
The Vizards have arrived! Now things are about to get more exciting. We got to see some quick reunions but also new team ups. Now that they are here we’re about to see how they face against the Espadas. They have a common enemy so for now they’ll work together, but who knows what could happen in the future. Also Shinji never disappoints so I’m ready to see what his next move is.
The moment I have been eagerly anticipating and hoping with all my heart would actually happen has finally arrived! It had me jumping up and down and screaming: "YES!!" Thank you, Tite Kubo!
I love, love, love the last half of this book. I am going to have to re-read this volume a few more times before moving on to the next. Yay!!! Happy day!
My reading slump prevented me from reading almost anything for two!years! Even manga. So so glad that it is over and I can continue with my favorite things. And Bleach is a favorite, I'm so happy to be back.
If the mid Soifon/Barragan fight didn't take up the first few chapters this would have been a 5. The visoreds turning up was just too epic and my boys Shinji and Love (and more) getting to make their heroic return was beyond beautiful. I mean the way Shinji confronts Aizen considering the context is one of my favourite moments in this arc man, great stuff! Also my boy Komamura better beat Tosen.
Mi dispiace un sacco aver momentaneamente interrotto la lettura del Manga, ma ora sono più che pronta a ripartire e COSA NON È QUESTO VOLUME, MAMMA MIA. 🔝 coalizione, davvero
I loved this volume. Hitsugaya freezing Halibel, Soi Fon’s Bankai reveal, and Starrk and Lilynette’s combined Resurreccíon. So many awesome scenes in one volume. I love how Soi Fon’s Bankai is the antithesis of stealth despite being the leader of the stealth force. I loved how Starrk and Lilynette combine in their Resurreccíon state, and I love how they use guns that fire ceros. The Visoreds appearing to assist the Captains is much more satisfying here as I felt like their characters and histories were explained much better than in the anime and I felt like they had a much more tangible and significant connection to the rest of the characters and the story. One thing that I’ve noticed about the manga is that the pacing is much more defined and satisfying which results in a tighter story, a benefit that comes from reading the story with zero added filler or wait time in between volumes.
Bleach, Vol. 42 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (359–367) of the on-going manga series.
With their Bankai, Tōshirō Hitsugaya freezes Tier Harribel while Suì-Fēng appears to have overpowered Baraggan Louisenbairn. Coyote Starrk, interested to see Shunsui Kyōraku's bankai, Starrk releases his Zanpakutō Los Lobos by absorbing Lilynette Gingerbuck, who is revealed to be part of his being. Jūshirō Ukitake aids Shunsui against their opponent and his gun-slinging fighting style. However, things worsen when Wonderweiss Margela arrives with a gigantic hollow named Hooleer.
After stabbing Jūshirō while Stark shoots Shunsui with a cero, Wonderweiss frees Harribel from her confinement while Hooler blows away the flames holding Sōsuke Aizen, Gin Ichimaru, and Kaname Tōsen. However, the Vizards make an unsuspected arrival at the fake Karakura Town, Shinji Hirako explaining to Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto that they are here only as enemies of Aizen before split up to each assist in each of the fights: Mashiro Kuna taking out Hooler before facing Wonderweiss, Lisa Yadōmaru and Hiyori Sarugaki assisting Hitsugaya against Harribel, Hachigen Ushōda joining Suì-Fēng and Marechiyo Ōmaeda against Baraggan, and Love Aikawa and Rōjūrō "Rose" Ōtoribashi taking on Starrk. Shinji attempts to face Aizen while Sajin Komamura faces Tōsen alongside Shūhei Hisagi.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. It continues Sōsuke Aizen incursion into Karakura Town, the Shinigami from Soul Society are turning the tides of battle, when Wonderweiss Margela arrives with a giant Hollow named Hooleer and changed the tides of battle and frees Sōsuke Aizen, Gin Ichimaru, and Kaname Tōsen from their fiery imprisonment. It is now that the Vizards joined the battle – not because they're with Soul Society, but they are against Sōsuke Aizen. It would be rather interesting seeing the Shinigami and Vizards teaming up in battle.
All in all, Bleach, Vol. 42 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.
The batte continues as the Esparada fight the captains and then Aizen appears and seems like things will go for a toss and then comes in the Vaizaados led by Shinji to fight them. Its a battle between friends former and allies and more. A lot of action happens and great things to come!

return of the king!!! shinji! soul society is so lucky the visords showed up to save their butt lisa and kyoraku’s reunion!! also how many times does he fight someone with guns lol so much ukitake this volume <333 would have liked to see him fight more
Another spectacular volume! We finally got to see Soi Fon’s Bankai which was absolutely badass, Ukitake and Kyoraku in action, Starrks’s release state which was also badass (fit was 10/10 + his dual pistols are freaking cool), and best of all my husband Shinji and his crew showed up 🤧
I’m glad the former captains / assistant captains / soul reapers who were turned into hollows and then did hollowfication are now getting their revenge! Kick aizen’s ass!!
Given that Manga, and especially Shonen is split up into bigger arcs as composed to volumes I will be analyzing and reviewing this by Arc. I also reread this manga over the span of 2 months, some days reading as much as 100 chapters a day. It would be quite tedious for me to review each 7-8 chapter volume. So this will be copy and pasted throughout all of the 72 manga volumes. That being said, if you're looking at this without having viewed the series...spoiler warning. I don't recap anything, but I also mention things that happen. If you want me to answer the question "Should I pick this up?" Yes. Even if you stop at the end of the Soul Society Arc. It's worth it.
Karakura Town Arc - Chapters 1-56- Rating: 7/10 (The official page lumps this in with the Soul Society Arc however I feel as if they are two very separate arcs with two very separate themes) - A fun introduction. -An interesting premise on the idea of ghosts and demons (Hollows) -Does a good job of introducing the characters and I especially enjoyed the love for characters like Chad, Orihime and Uryu as these characters would later lose more and more spotlight as the series went on. -It is a bit of a monster of the week. When it works, like with Chad's introduction story. It works. But Characters like Don Kanonji felt superficial and very gimmicky. Which, fair. I didn't enjoy them as much.
Soul Society Arc - Chapters 57-182 - Rating: 10/10 -The height of Bleach -Establishes an afterlife seemingly perfectly. Later on revealed to be full of plot holes and never fleshed out but hey! That's not an issue in THIS arc. The fights are top tier, the themes of Ichigo owing a life debt to Rukia and his passion and determination to rise above literally God's army is inspiring and to this day is why I love Ichigo so much. He doesn't have some grandiose plan. He doesn't have a major goal to accomplish. He is a protector by heart, losing his mother has made him sour to failing to protect those he cares about and he'll do anything in his power never to feel that helpless again. Very powerful stuff. -The twist near the end of this arc is revolutionary and would make waves for the next 200 chapters onward. A perfect ending and set up for the forthcoming arc. -The only issues I have for this arc would be Ichigo's lightning speed progression. The guy goes from being able to barely defeat a third seat to besting multiple captains in roughly 100 or less chapters. I get that that is the point and him defeating captains was more of a struck of luck, but progression and pacing wise it feels very unearned and a factor of "for the plot he needed to be this strong" It only seems as fast as it is because Ichigo's progression slows drastically down for the rest of the story moving foreword so it's only now that I make that criticism. -Also, and this will be an issue in most Shonen. There are 13 Captains with 13 Vice Captains and seats that branch all the way to 10 I believe? Regardless, there's a fudge ton of characters that are introduced here and it can get a little jarring at times. Luckily, Kubo does a great job at making their designs and characters unique despite such a large cast.
Hueco Mundo Arc - Chapters 183-423 - Rating 7/10 -This is another arc where personally I would split it up into two separate arcs. But for the sake of this review I will simply refer to the first half of the arc and the later half of the arc. First Half 9/10. Second Half. 5/10. -The first half of this arc is a great continuation of the last. Ichigo now struggles with his inner demons and it affects his ability to protect the ones he loves. We are also introduced to a deadly unknown new villains. The Arrancars/Espada to this day remain one of my favorite villain factions in all of manga enemies. -Just so you're aware I would say the first half of this arc ends right around the point of Ichigo vs Grimmjow. Grimmjow is one of the first Arrancar that Ichigo faces. And he's also one of two Espada that he faces three times. The conclusion of that fight shows Ichigo conquering his inner demons. Where Grimmjow is very much fighting to establish himself. Grimmjow has to fight Ichigo to prove to his fallen comrades that he is as good as he says he is. He doesn't care about Aizen, he doesn't care about the rest of the Espada. It is very personal for him. For Ichigo, Orohime is within his grasp of saving and he views this as his "final" battle. It's my favorite fight in all of Bleach. -However, this is where things start to take a bit of dip in quality in my opinion. We had a goal and we were striving towards that goal. Each character of the original cast coming to repay the debt they made to their friend who had risked her life to save them in the Soul society arc. But somewhere along the way it seems we just had a fighter fest. Captains would face enemies with no themes or character revelations. The Espadas got a little light but nothing that made their fights compelling. You almost just feel bad for the Espada as they were monsters turned into a military force by an unstoppable tyrant. But even that wasn't enough to make half of the fights interesting. Now, that's with knowing the outcome. These fights played little importance in the larger scheme of things. Where at least in the Hueco Mundo fights each match up had the protagonists striving for a goal. Rukia to defeat Aaroneiro to free her former superiors soul. Byakuya to defend Rukia. Renji and Uryu teamwork. Nel to protect Ichigo and get revenge on Nnoitra. Whereas Stark fought Kyoraku.....cause.....and Hitsugaya fought Halibel because Water vs Ice would be cool. -This leaves me to the end. I won't say it wasn't satisfying that Ichigo was able to defeat Aizen. And yes, I do feel like his new power was earned. 3 months of training. But this was clearly a last minute decision to save Aizen for a later date and the show must go on. I do feel like it wasn't as satisfying as 200+ chapter buildup needed to be.
The Fullbring Arc - Chapters 424-479 - Rating: 8/10 -A very underrated arc. And yes, I acknowledge that rating wise I think the Fullbring arc is superior to the Hueco Mundo arc. That is mostly true. Though I like the first half of the Hueco Mundo Arc more than the Fullbring arc. The end of the HM arc really brought it down for me. The Fullbring Arc is much more concise and is actually the shortest arc in the series and works as a glorified Ichigo getting his powers back arc. But that doesn't mean its bad. -When I read it originally back when it was coming out in 2010. (Cause I'm Old) It wasn't phenomenal. In fact, I hated it. But wouldn't you? It took just short of a year to get to the point that we were at. But upon rereading it, it gave much deserved love to the characters who hadn't been shown love in quite some time. The original cast. It was a very character focused arc. Ichigo never seemed more human. And despite me hating it before for taking so long, reading weekly can sometimes hurt these mystery based arcs. The twist is heavily foreshadowed and I really appreciated it. -That being said, the end was super rushed. This was a big bummer for me. The villains this time around were humans. And the ones who had the most exposure and relations with these characters were the original cast who again....were humans. So to have the soul reapers, who have no connection to the fullbringers show up and basically no diff most of the fullbringers felt very forced and fanservicey to me. This very well could have not been Kubo's call. As the community was very vocal about their dislike for this arc as it was going on. But I appreciate it now much more as I appreciate character and story over big sword fights. Lol.
The Thousand Year Blood War Arc - Chapters 424-689 - Rating: 5/10 -And we're finally here. The final and largest arc within the Bleach story. And man...does it not stick the landing. -That being said, this arc has phenomenal moments. Kenpachi's Shikai and Bankai. Ichigo's double swords. Renji's true Bankai. Rukia's Bankai. And many more. However, they are put together against the most break neck speed arc that I have ever read. Kubo was very ambitious when he introduced 26 new villains. However, most of them got barely any screen time and a lot of them even got off screened by higher level captains. This was unlike the Espada who each got a full double page spread for their Resurrections. -Yhwach himself was a phenomenal villain but was dealt with swiftly and imo dirty. They did him dirty. -There was just something off. The mood changed and it was very apparent. The villains had random powers instead of the powers reflecting their personalities or needs. The finale felt so underwhelming. -Ichigo gets to be the strongest he's ever been....but he doesn't defeat a single person besides the main villain despite being in several fights. -It isn't a good arc. In fact, I would say it's the worst. Hopefully the anime does a better job with this already mammoth of a story. 260 chapters is no joke.
This gives the story of Bleach an Overall rating of 7.4/10. Which to me is above average. It has it's ups and downs. It's not perfect. But when it's high, it's peak shonen. But when it's low, it's very forgettable.
And so the battles between the Thirteen Court Guard Companies and the Espadas continue.
Halibel is dismayed to learn just how powerful Hitsugaya is as he unleashes his Frozen Heavens Hundred Flower Funeral on her, encasing her in ice. Sai Fon and Omaeda face Reaper Barragan, and Sai Fon is forced to use her Bankai. Omaeda has never seen her Bankai before and wonders what she can do with a weapon of that shape.
Shunsui is still facing Stark, and throws his kimono down to Ukitake to catch. Stark calls to Lilinette, who is still trying to fight Ukitake, who refuses to fight a child. Turns out that Stark and Lilinette work together, their powers divided into two bodies. Not only that, but Lilinette becomes a gun that can fire cero blasts! Stark is determined to force Shunsui to use his Bankai, but Shunsui resists, until Stark ups the ante, turning Lilinette into a submachine gun. Things look bad until Ukitake steps in, claiming it isn’t unfair since there are two of them.
Suddenly a garganta appears, and Wonderweiss arrives. According to Stark, “If Wonderweiss is here that can only mean that Lord Aizen’s patience has been exhausted.” Wonderweiss’ unnatural scream shatters Halibel’s ice prison. And the strange creature that came with Wonderweiss has just extinguished the flames surrounding Aizen, Tosen, and Gin… which means they are now free to join the fray.
Although this is a matter of dismay to the Soul Reapers, there is another group who have also just arrived and are just as eager to square off against Aizen et al – namely, Shinji and the other Visoreds. They aren’t thrilled to be working with the Soul Society, but it’s more a question of the enemy of my enemy is my ally. At least for now. Shunsui and Lisa have a touching reunion, and Shinji lets Captain Yamamoto that he considers himself Ichigo’s ally, not Soul Society’s. The Visoreds get their first taste of battle when the strange creature that came with Wonderweiss spews out a bunch of Gillians. Captain Komamura steps up to fight alongside the Visoreds, and to face Tosen as well. As he does, Hisagi, requests to join that particular fight.
Another battle-heavy volume of Bleach, but it feels like we’re finally progressing. Maybe because Aizen and his toadies have stepped into the fight. There could be no denouement without that. The appearance of the Visoreds was unexpected and very welcome. They certainly have just cause to hate Aizen, although they also have no real love for Soul Society, who should consider themselves lucky to have them as temporary allies. I loved watching Shunsui battle against Stark, and I loved the way Ukitake didn’t hesitate to join him. They’ve been friends for a very long time, and are favorites of the Old Man himself.
Nothing of Ichigo this time around, although that’s just a matter of time since he has defeated Ulquiorra. I guess he needs to figure out how to get out of Hueco Mundo first.
Another great volume, looking forward to the next.
This volume was very action packed and I LOVE it. All the different battles are getting better. And new allies appear and ready to join the fight and defeat Aizen and the Espadas. Stark and Captain Kyoraku is kind of amusing because they both look like their joking around because neither one of them want to have a serious fight against the other. But now that Stark has seen the Bankai form of the other captains he has gotten curious and wants to see the bankai of Captain Kyoraku and has released his true form. So now the battle is between Stark in his release form vs both Captain Kyoraku and Ukitake. But before their battles can begin Wonderweiss comes out of a garganta and attacks Ukitake by stabbing him through the stomach with his HAND. It catches both captain Kyoraku and Ukitake by surprise and Kyoraku attacks Wonderweiss but forgets that Stark is there as well and injures him. The big hollow that Wonderweiss brings with him helps Aizen, Gin, and Kaname escape the rings of fire that the Head Captain trapped them in and then releases hundreds of Gillian level hollows to attack the soul reapers. That big hollow also helps Halibel escape from the ice prison Hitsugaya traps her in and Barragan from the attack that Soi Fon shot at him.
When the Gillians are released allies appear to help. The VIZARDS appear again and they do not want to help the soul reapers they just want their revenge against Aizen. Shinji makes it clear to the Head Captain that their are not their allies they are Ichigo's ally and they want revenge and that is all. The VIZARDS were fucking AWESOME!!!! They showed the soul reapers how strong they are using their hollow powers like Ichigo. The soul reapers might not know them but they know perfectly well that they are not in a position to refuse their help since most of them are injured and have wasted enough power fighting only the Espadas they still needed to deal with Aizen. So it looks like they are all going to team up and take care of this mess together for now.
Toushiro used Hyouten Hyakkasou that make Halibel become frozen flower. Omaeda is distracting Barragan while Suí-Féng prepare for her Bankai. After a while, Suí-Féng released her Bankai: Jakuhou Raikouben which is a type of missile. The missile hit Barragan. Stark who sees two of the captains uses Bankai wants to see Kyouraku use Bankai also. He called Lilynette who is part of himself. He then released his Resurrecion: Los Lobos and his new form is like a gunslinger with two guns. Stark can shoot multiple Ceros from his guns. Suddenly, Ukitake joined the battle. Ukitake's Sougyou no Kotowari can absorbed any attacks and return it.
A giant Garganta open up in the sky. Wonderweiss come out from it along with a giant one-eyed monster. Wonderweiss appears from Ukitake's back and stabbed him. Unguarded Kyouraku being shot by Stark. Wonderweiss then screamed and broke the ice flower than surrounded Halibel. All the top 3 Espadas are coming back in the battle. Aizen shows himself. Suddenly, Vizard appears to join the battle.
The giant monster spit out many Gillians. The Vizards come into action by slaughtering the Gillians. Shinji faced Aizen but they were interrupted by Tousen. Komamura appears to fight Tousen. Hachi helps Suí-Féng and Omaeda while Lisa and Hiyori help Toushiro. Rōjūrō and Love fights Stark. Mashiro fights the giant monster and Wonderweiss.
5 stars. Great volume. Great action and great build up for the future volumes. Characters in this volume are the ones I care about. The visors also join that’s sick and they are better than the soul society captains which is awesome! The crazy kid (wonderweiss) I wonder what he is. What’s his potential. Just as the villains had turned the tables and it looked hopeless the visors came to save the day. Cool to see the captains recognize them and be shocked. Arranger is my favorite arrancar. He’s strong and has an awesome ability. We get to see a main villain fight one of aizens henchmen a former captain. He’s probably got crazy power. The espadas are strong the fact that there are multiple people for each one of them is crazy. Also I didn’t see the death of the captain ukitake by wonderweiss was a shock. Overall great volume I was highly invested and could not put this volume down.

Not a bad issue. Big fan of the team up that started closer to the end.
Summary: Toshiro releases his snow flower power and kills espada tres. Soi Fon performs bankia, and defeats the death king. Ukitake & Shunsui Team up to fight an arancar. A giant monster comes out of a sky crack with weiss (another arrancar). Weiss punches a hole in Ukitake. The monster blows smoke and Aizen appears with Tosen and Gin. The vizards show up and challenge them to a fight. The vizards kill the Gillians Aizen brought with him. Shinji Challenges Aizen. Komamura fights Tosen, but Hisagi insists that he fights tosen
I could barely tell you what happened this volume. The arrival of some new allies is the big shocking thing that makes this volume stands out and... they don't do anything? It sets up some new fights to take place over the next few volumes but their big grand entrances are just generic punching kicking slicing fight. As "hell yeah this is awesome" as the big arrival is, the volume itself is basically just a breather between rounds as our characters get ready for a rematch against the villains they've been fighting already.
This fucking arc!!! SHINJIIIIII, like song get me wrong, it's a very anime thing to have like people come at the perfect time to save the main cast, but with the exposition on shiji's group in like vol 36 it made their entrance so much more tastier. I was originally scared that bleach wld have too many characters n it wld feel too bloated but they give enough info to feel like every main-side character has a purpose in the ongoing narrative, or at least a reason to do classic cool shounen choreography
Cool fights in the first half, and then it finally happens what everybody wanted to see! The fights is finally getting real, and for the second half of the volume I was really excited! The art as always is impeccable.
