An Immersive Introduction to Tapping the Transformative Power of Mantra
Could the simple act of repeating a certain sound influence your physical health, your emotional state, and even the world around you? On Mantras, you will learn India's powerful inner technology for clearing your mind, removing hidden obstacles in life, and attracting abundance.
Thomas Ashley-Farrand, one of the West's leading authorities on mantras, teaches you everything you need to know to get started--from how a mantra works to the power of "seed sounds" to the essentials of developing your own daily practice. Complete with guidance for intoning each chant with precision (a key to their effectiveness), this program includes eight mantras with practical applications that you will learn to chant for healing, love, wisdom, creativity, and more.
Previously released as The Beginner's Guide to Mantras, excerpted from Mantra: Sacred Words of Power.
The works of Thomas Ashley-Farrand give unprecedented, detailed instruction in how to empower yourself using the techniques of the ancient sages and rishis. After many years of teaching and sharing, he has been persuaded by his friends to publish the techniques of mantra sadhana in which he was initiated over the course of decades by Eastern masters. Additionally, as we enter the new millenium, he has decided to share some of the moving experiences that he has had with spiritually advanced beings, as well as the lessons that he learned from each encounter.
One of my yoga teachers recommended the author and I found this short audiobook that served as a springboard to delving into mantras. I've started to learn the Anusara Invocation "Om Namah Shivaya Gurave" aided by the music of Ty Burhoe. While the sound of the words at a subconscious level may help to connect with the divine, I think understanding the language is essential to making a rational, conscious connection as well. Sanskrit mantras for me seem akin to reading Shakespeare in a language other than English.
A great introduction to Mantra. The author was a Vedic Priest and has brought Mantra to the west as far as I'm concerned! He explains what it is, how it's important and even discusses the mala! I've participated in Kirtan a number of times but this explains and interprets many of the lines I've encountered. If your curious about mantra, this audio is an excellent place to begin your practice!
