I haven't disliked a heroine this much in a long time. She so often acted in ways that were just TSTL, I lost all respect for her, especially when she refused to take her son to safety just because she didn't want to disrupt his routine. Forget that they just watched somebody blow up, or that the villain had made threats against them. The hero wasn't unlikable, just flat, and how a woman who is adamant about how much she doesn't like or approve of casual relationships can decide she's in love with a man she's only known for a couple days and knows next to nothing about except what she's seen in the media, I have no idea.
The suspense angle doesn't save this, either, as the villain's exposition scenes are mostly negated when he proceeds to repeat via dialogue much of what the reader has already seen or heard him think previously in the book. That repetition bogs down what is meant to be the climax, though I'll freely admit that I stopped caring long before I reached that part, courtesy of my dislike for the heroine.

I thought this was okay. It was entertaining, but the timeline was unbelievable. Their relationship moved way too fast! The whole thing took place in probably a week and by the end they were talking marriage. If their relationship had grown over time I would have enjoyed it more. She trusted him too fast. Anyway, the mystery angle was okay. Overall, I thought it was entertaining, but could have been better. I like Parra's historical fiction much more.
Content: Clean romance, maybe a steamy PG. Some swearing, the F word once.
I love Nancy Parra's writing style, simple but packed with emotion and memorable characters. I love how both main characters acted and reacted realistically. Their conflicts were realistic and they reacted true to them (that's a big bug-a-boo with me). They both realized they had been hiding from love, each in a different way and in the end realize that love does cover over a multitude of problems
Wonderful storyline, strong, believable characters a reader can connect with. The dialog was good and realistic, the story was fast paced, had a well developed element of suspense, and a satisfying ending.
Okay not my favorite cover! Had read other books by this Nancy Parra and they were really good so I thought I would try it out. I am glad I did this is a very cute romance, with a little bit of suspense. I really liked Jennifer and Kane. It was fun to watch their relationship grow and see what might be. A nice quick and easy read.
