About the author

David Ray Wilkerson was an American Christian evangelist, best known for his book The Cross and the Switchblade. He was the founder of the addiction recovery program Teen Challenge, and founding pastor of the non-denominational Times Square Church in New York.

Wilkerson's widely distributed sermons, such as "A Call to Anguish", are known for being direct and frank against apostasy and serious about making the commitment to obey Jesus' teachings. He emphasized such Christian beliefs as God's holiness and righteousness, God's love toward humans and especially Christian views of Jesus. Wilkerson tried to avoid categorizing Christians into distinct groups according to the denomination to which they belong.

Wilkerson was killed in a car crash in Texas on April 27, 2011.

I read this at work, between Customer Service phone calls. It was extremely helpful at a job where you often have angry customers calling, and where it is easy to become frustrated, angry or depressed. Reading the Scripture verses helped me keep my mind on the Lord and to keep a positive attitude.

essential tool for Christian's toolbox

I love the Jesus person promise book when I'm struggling and can't figure out what to do what to read in the Bible. I can open it up on ANY page and immediately get into the word and be comforted and protected from the enemy. It's an essential tool in my toolbox of arsenal and armory against the enemy. I read my read my Bible app and different plans and the verse of the day but this book is my go to in emergencies when I feel anything other than filled with the Holy Spirit I open it. It's like a tonic for my soul and a remedy. Thank you, Jesus.

Great compilation of scriptures; however they are all from different versions of the bible. It would be helpful if this one or two translations were used.
