I have read the comments before I purchased this book myself and I must admit, those not happy with this book or knows too much about book binding or actually knows nothing. This book has very clear illustrations and the step-by-step information are written in an understandable English. Terms used are also explained if it relates to the binding industry. Many books and examples available. This book is as good as a mini leather binding library on its own.

I really suggest adding this book to your library.

The first half of the book is about working around using leather for board covering (avoiding having to pare leather, I might find it easier to just use leather in the traditional way and pare it). Sewing, directly to the leather spine, starts to get discussed on pg 133 for books of 1-3 signatures/sections. The braided handed book structure was certainly unique. Favorites: pg 141-145 "faux double raised cords" 1-section; pg 211-217 "darting packed stitch" for 3 sections looks like barbed wire; pg 253 hash marks

Best reference guide out there for book artists. His books are expensive, ~$25 apiece but worth it.
