All Anna wants for her fortieth birthday is a ladies’ night out. Her plans are stalled when she ends up stuck in her griffin costume. The mascot for the Alexandria Griffins, she never expects to be rescued by the star of her midnight fantasies, quarterback Kyran Black. Called “The Rebel” by the press because of his long hair, tattoos and playboy stats off the field, he’s everything Anna should avoid.
Kyran is gorgeous and irresistible and he suggests they celebrate her birthday together. Certain she’s too old for him, she agrees to one night. Kyran’s charm and dominance in bed blitz Anna’s defenses, teaching her things about sex she never thought she’d experience.
But when their one-night stand turns into a relationship, his bad-boy past comes back to threaten their future.
My love for storytelling began when I created my first fictional characters in kindergarten, convincing my family and friends that Red Henry and Green Henry were identical twin brothers in my school. They were mischievous, rarely did their homework, and even had girlfriends! Years later, I started to write, completing my first manuscript in middle school. I confess the heroine was a cross between a contemporary Laura Ingalls Wilder and Nancy Drew, who’d been dating one of the Hardy Boys, but when I wrote “the end” I’d known I had more stories to tell. Of course, life intervened, but whether I was in high school, working as a Veterinary Technician, earning a degree in history and secondary education, or teaching, I was always writing and reading romances.
Finally, I met and married my hero and moved to New England. Shortly after, I joined RWA and the New England Chapter and have been writing faithfully ever since. Now I am proud to be an author with Ellora’s Cave Publishing. I invite you to come and meet the Panthera, explore my website, read the reviews, excerpts and more at www.francesstockton.com. Or email me at romance@francesstockton.com. I love to hear from readers!
No…just no. Personally, there's a difference between erotica and porn. And in this case the sex scenes are definitely very porn-ish. Further, the sex is all over the book.
Quarterback Blitz starts off with Kyran meeting Anna in a locker room after a football match. They have a short conversation and then they get it on. I've read 50 % of this book and not one single sports scene was to be found. Unfortunately. I'd say almost 40 % was "dedicated" to the sex.
Actually, I think the main protagonists could have been rather likable and the hero is definitely yummy. The plot had potential but the sex, sex, sex, sex, sex ruined everything for me. I felt slightly nauseated. In all honesty I can say that I love a great dirty talker (i.e. Flynn of Willing Victim by Cara McKenna). But. There's dirty talk and dirty talk. It's difficult to explain, however, this kind of dirty talk just didn't rock my world. As it is, this kind of dirty talk and the sex were a huge turn off. Quarterback Blitz is filled with tons and tons of crudity. As a matter of fact, it's utterly vulgar! I never felt any heat at all. What's so erotic, hot or sensual about this book? Nothing at all. Having said that, if it's done right, then the sex is so highly erotic and mesmerizing that I cannot put a book down anymore. I want the sensuality to leap off the pages. I want to feel it. Hence, I don't need a cold, clinical and crude f*ck.
What I found extremely strange is the fact that our heroine is actually such a grey mouse (sexually speaking), however, in a blink of an eye she's becoming a super porn goddess. Wow. Incredible. I'm sorry but it was not believable.
She'd always thought porn stars were the only ones who could f*ck like this.
Uh…no comment.
Moreover, what I found highly annoying as well was the "She almost fell in love with him" comment after one single crude f*ck. Excuse me, but where the h*ll did that come from? Not believable either--not by a long shot.
Here's a line that sums it up perfectly:
"Don't defeat yourself with me. You won't have to worry about anything but the next orgasm I'm about to give you."
When I read this
He had eight inches of thick, hard muscle to give her
you can imagine that my reaction was "OMG, another muscled c*ck! I can't believe it. A d*ck is NOT a muscle."
Another example:
Damn, if he didn't get inside her soon he was going to be blitzed by his own cum.
Duh?
They are so oversexed.
Sheesh. I want fabulous sex scenes combined with a great story and characters. Why is it so difficult to write such a book?
********************************
I did a word count:
c*ck = 38 Kindle pages (38 x 4 = 152)
f*ck/f*cked/f*cking etc. = 42 Kindle pages (42 x 4 = 168)
1 1/2 stars (rounded up to 2 stars, because the book had a plot - too bad it was buried under all the non-stop, mind-numbing sex)
"Favorite" passage: Anna was the best kisser he’d known. She responded with pure, feminine skill, especially the way her tongue lured his into her mouth and sucked it almost to her throat. Fuck yeah, she didn’t gag. ... Her smile wavered then, her eyes on his cock. "I knew you were big when I touched you that first time. But seeing you, jeez, Kyran, that’s never going to fit inside of me." Her voice was so deep and aroused, he felt like a king. He had eight inches of thick, hard muscle to give her. Damn, if he didn’t get inside her soon he was going to be blitzed by his own cum.
Comments from the peanut gallery: 1. Gag from sucking tongue?! How long is your tongue, man? 2. Yes, his c*ck is big, but it's going to fit, woman. It always do. Don't act like an innocent maiden, as you're far from it. 3. Eight inches of thick, hard muscle? The penis is not a muscle! 4. "Blitzed by his own cum!?!" LOL!
Sex, sex, and more SEX! OMG, did the sex get in the way of (what turned out to be) a pretty decent story. I realize that this is an erotic romance, and don't get me wrong, the sex was plenty hawt, but too much of a good thing gets in the way of the story. And the story wasn't bad. Luckily, I stuck with it, even though I was tempted to ditch it a time or two (these two were either constantly wet, spewing, or in danger of 'spewing')!
I love a good hot sports romance, but this was a little too over-the-top for me. 3 1/2 stars
This is one series I will enjoy reading. I love the author's descriptions of both bodies (which I don't always get enough in these eroitca books) and that included tattoos. Yummy!
A 40-year-old woman tried not to fall for this football player 10 years her junior. After all, they went on a date and they talked for hours but he never called back. It turned out to be a misunderstanding and she was willing to give one-night-stand a try (though he has more in mind) on her birthday. After all, she only turns 40 once! And how yummy that night was for them, especially in the locker room.
To their dismay, the news of their night together in the locker room was released.... Well if you want to know more, read ;)
I enjoyed the story as I do feel like it has some funny scenes, especially when she wanted to try something new and he was all for it. And I love how he talks about his friends which gave me an idea that there will be more stories in the series (and sure enough, I was right) so I'm looking forward to it.
This was a good story. I liked both Kyran and Anna and enjoyed their story. This is the first story I've read by this author and based off this I may try more of her work in the future.
Anna is 40 years old, a phys-Ed teacher and assistant coach of the high school's JV football team. Anna hasn't had much luck with men in her life and all have been lacking. Her last relationship was a college professor, Will, that she was engaged to until she found him cheating on her with a grad student (that he was screwing over his desk at the time). Anna hasn't been involved with anyone since then. Anna recently got a job working part time as the mascot for the local professional football team.
Kyran is a 30 year old quarterback on a professional football team. He has a good career but his playing days are coming to an end soon and he's interested in getting in to coaching. Kyran used to date a lot of women (more serial monogamy rather than many woman at one time) but after he blew out his knee and had to go through recovery, he's settled down and concentrated on the end of his career.
The story begins a bit confusing because we come in to find Kyran coming in to the mascot dressing room to avoid a reporter that wont leave him alone. It soon becomes apparent that he also came in there with every intention of seducing Anna. As the story progresses, we find out that apparently at the end of last season, Anna got the job as the team mascot and met Kyran then. He asked he out and they went and talked for hours over coffee and then had some heavy petting at her car before they split ways. Kyran got Anna's phone number and intended to call her but she had just changed her # and ended up accidentally giving him the wrong one. He thinks she did it on purpose but likes her enough that he fully intends to find her and see her again in the future. Anna doesn't realize she gave the wrong # and is hurt when he doesn't call. Kyran had to spend pretty much the whole off-season working on a knee issue and doesn't get back home until the pre-season games are starting and the book starts right after the first pre-season game...the first time Kyran has been able to find Anna. He comes in to her locker room to find her and doesn't realize it's her 40th birthday. She has plans to go out with friends but Kyran soon derails those plans and seduces her in to staying with him instead. They have sex in the locker room, on the way home and then a number of times once they get to his place. Obviously there's a strong attraction between them. It seems to have been brewing since they first met months before and once they get back together it explodes. The night proves to both of them that they want more together. Kyran is all for exploring what they have and what they could have. Anna is a bit freaked because do their age difference but Kyran makes it quite clear he wants her and she wants him enough that she decides to risk the heartbreak if things don't work out.
Unfortunately, Anna and Kyran have to face issues by the very next morning as a reporter that wont leave Kyran alone managed to get a picture of them kissing and printed a story that was inflammatory at best. This ends up causing problems for Anna because her Ex, Will, (who happens to be on the school board) gets her called before a hearing about how her relationship and the article about her and Kyran might cause problems for the school and her students. Thankfully, Anna doesn't let this push her away from Kyran and Kyran stands behind her, even going to stand by her during the hearing. The complaint against Anna is dismissed but that isn't the end to their problems. While Kyran and Anna seem to do great together (and quickly fall in love...yeah, it's an insta-love story) they get lots of problems from others, specifically their Exes and reporters. Kyran's Ex keeps calling him and trying to get them back together, even to the point of lying to the press about their relationship. In addition to the original reporter, another one tries to cause them issues as well (taking pictures of them in private moments through cracks in the curtains) and it seems like more might be going on than what they see. While trying to figure these issues out, Anna and Kyran are together and building their relationship. To be honest, there's a lot of sex. This story has a plot and I liked it but just about every time something happens in the plot there's lot of sex between the plot twists. Sometimes it almost felt like too much sex (and very descriptive) because it overshadowed the plot at times and I like things to be more balanced. The sex was a bit on the kinky side as they use some toys on each other (Anna even uses a strap-on on Kyran) but it's not BDSM. Between all the sex and such, Kyran and Anna have to deal with issues that end up being tied together in an overall plot that no one expected. I actually liked how Anna reacted when things got bad. She didn't have the typical reaction and I was glad she wasn't stupid about things. Everything gets worked out in the end and Kyran and Anna get engaged and start planning their HEA.
This was a good story. I had some problems rating it because I was torn between 3 & 4 stars. The writing style wasn't my thing and after a while I started skimming the sex scenes because they just kept coming so that's why I dropped it to 3 stars. Regardless of this, I thought the story had a pretty good plot and I liked both Anna and Kyran. Overall it was an enjoyable story. :)
I did not like the author’s writing style in this book—everything felt cringey, choppy, and completely disjointed. The chemistry between the main characters was forced and random, making it hard to care about anything that was happening.
I powered through just to finish it, but honestly? I didn’t enjoy a single minute of it.
Wow. Talk about a new twist on older woman/younger man relationships! I thought Kimberly Zant was it with her Taboo/The GILF story, and then-- Kaboom! Kabomb! Frances Stockton writes something unique, spicy and different featuring a hunky hero of the sports arena and his phys-ed lady love, all with a spin on ugly exes with motivations that will make you cringe.
Kyran is a rough around the edges, alpha male type with a big heart. He's not hearts and flowers, he's scary real and honest. I love it! The kind of guy who doesn't hold back, comes at you like a speeding Tokyo bullet train. Leaves you with a big stupid grin on your face nothing can erase. He might talk like he's in the locker room but it's darned sexy and so masculine. Anna is your all around good girl grown up who's gotten older and is racked with insecurities that are at times, annoying. She's likeable though. Especially after Kyran flips every last switch she has and adds/imports a few.
This novel packs a wallop in just over 200 plus pages. I appreciate the heart and brain power the author put into this story. It shows. The sex will singe your retinas and melt your eyeballs. Be sure to go into reading this with an open mind--that's my only warning.
Otherwise, this big gorgeous ginger QB and his sassy school teacher will have you rooting for them from the start to the end.
I'm looking forward to reading more by this author. Her contemporary work sizzles, while her historical has a fragrant traditional flavor that's quite sweet.
This book was so delicious I don’t know where to begin. Kyran Black is the type of hero every woman would love to have. Talented, smart, caring, and a dirty talker, he speaks his mind and follows through with his word. On the flip side Anna personifies women of her age group and even some younger. The fears, thoughts of inadequacies, flaws she sees that would be invisible to anyone else give us a direct visual of what she believes she lacks. What she fails to see is that aging doesn’t make her less of sexy woman, and her other traits are what add to her desirability.
I kept rooting for this couple, through all the media, the agenda of some choice people who I deem cook coo for coco puffs and those aiming for the highlight spot, not caring if their negligent behaviour ruins lives. I hoped his past wouldn’t bite him in the butt and that through it all the true substance of both hero and heroine would emerge. The sex was white hot, but everything else cemented it together in the perfect package.
This is one of the best erotic romances I have ever read. It is Anna’s fortieth birthday and although she has managed to get stuck in her mascot uniform, a job she uses to supplement her teaching career, she is excited about going out with her girlfriends to look at strippers. Kyran has other ideas. He has lusted after Anna since he first saw her, even if she gave him a fake phone number that night so that he couldn’t call her.
There evening together prompts a series of events that make for intriguing suspense, pain, and love all mixed into one wonderful book. Kyran is an ideal hero: real, flawed, and sometimes arrogant. I loved Anna. She’s smart and capable. Together, they were a fantastic couple.
I say bravo to this book and bravo to the author for writing it.

I believe in not judging a book by it's cover and I'm glad I didn't with this one. I almost didn't read it because the cover turned me off. Once I got past those two pictures I was able to vision the MC's in my own mind and the book really took off from their. There was actually a nice mystery written in amongst all the flaming hot sex. At the beginning Anna was written as being very reserved and was really surprised at how quickly she turned into a little sex machine. I was beginning to get tired of her "I'm to old for you" bit when she seemed to finally come to terms with the 10 year age difference. I liked Kyran - he knew who he was and didn't apologize for things he'd done in the past, he was honest, and gallant. I liked Kyran (yes I know I said it twice) :)
Looking for a steamy seduction? This book is for you, I could not finish it though. The first 5 chapters were a giant sex scene and it ages to get to the plot. When it finally did, it wasn't much of one.
The female lead is the mascot for the, Griffins, and a PE teacher. The male lead is the Griffin's 30 year old vertern quarterback who has taken to coaching. These two hit it off but the mascot is super worried about her age and then a reporter comes along to report on the quarterback but the scandal may cost the 40 year old her jobs.
I couldn't relate to this book, they had sex in a public restroom which just seems disgusting, and the plot didn't appear till half way through the book.
I'm working on reading a whole bunch of the books on my Nook and Kindle this year, and this was one of them. (Also, I'm doing an A-Z book challenge so this takes care of "Q", lol) Anyway, This book was alright, but I did notice that it was a bit drawn out in parts. On a positive note, I liked the resolution to the conflict and felt the author did a great job tying all that up. Also, she can write one helluva steamy scene. I mean, seriously, freaking, wowza! Don't let the 2 stars fool you-I will be checking out more from this author (and likely this series) in the future, I just need to get through the books I already have, first!
*This book was a self purchase. All opinions are my own."
An interesting, older woman/younger man configuration. Both main characters are involved with sports but there is a very warm love story between these two. There are problems which surface because of the lingering concern over the age difference and ex-lovers of both main characters that keep popping up in a very destructive way. Lots of twists and turns but a very good, full-length novel. I enjoyed it immensely.
This was a decent story. I saw others say there was too much sex, and there was a lot of sex. I found myself skimming a lot. But it was nice that Anna was so trusting of Kyran. He hadn't really given her any reason to think he was playing her, and as a 40+ woman, I can see how she might be unsure of his attention for the long run, but Kyran really pushed home that she was it for him. The sort of mystery of the story was interesting and kept the story moving along between bouts of sex.
The sec scenes were good, but the dialouge was crap. The story itself would be great if the actual writing was good. It's. Too bad because I wanted too read the other books in the series, but I may not unless the cost is really cheap (free or $.99) because the writing was bad. The only time the writing got good was during the sex scenes, but it got to the point where there was too much sexton (boy, never thought I'd ever say that!!!).
This erotic romance was a kindle freebie. With all the reviews I won't bother with the story line except to say that readers either loved it or hated it. I thought the story line itself was very good. Older woman/younger man is something you don't come across often in books. The characters had their insecurities and they were portrayed well. I think the heavy emphasis on sex, sex, sex got in the way of what was a really good story.
I picked up this book at a book signing. Glad I did. I loved the 40 year old woman. Maybe because I can relate.. The insecurities and the doubts. Not a huge fan of football but you really don't need to be. I liked the love story mixed in with some mystery. Would like to have seen an epilogue with what happens next..
This isn't my usual fair for getting my reading fix on, but I enjoyed this read. The fact that the author didn't use the cop-out method of having her character NOT talk about their doubts was refreshing. Even when the heroine thought she may have lost her man to an ex - she didn't storm off, no, she talked it out with him. More authors should take note.
I would prefer a no star rating but...thats just like..I started got stuck on the second page and said good bye...Noo way in hell. Am thr type of person who can spot disater from a mile away...wel this one was 5 ...Oh how i tried..This book was recommended by a friend and I am NEVER taking a recommendation from her AGAIN....
For erotica this was not bad. I thought some of the dialog between the two main characters uneven. And, some of it just irritating. However, that was just a small part of this book. I would read more from this author when I am in the mood for this type of novel.
I like erotica as well as the next person. However, I felt WAY too much of this book was sex scenes and not enough character/story line development. What was there was good.
