My Review:
I didn't know what to expect from this book. I picked it up on a whim and it's from an author that I have never read before, but I was pleasantly surprised...it was a fun, suspenseful read. It kept my attention and I actually had a hard time falling asleep because I was so into the book although it was super-late.

This is number 2 in the Bounty Hunters series. The suspense story line appears to be the real connecting thread throughout the series. I haven't read #1 (and honestly still have NO IDEA who is even in the first book as the hero/heroine) so I personally don't feel that you need to have read that book to enjoy this one.

The first half of the book is all about the romance. Marc is in Aspen getting some rest and recuperating from a long year working at his family's bounty hunting firm. London works in the hotel that he is staying at and, after she rescues him from a snowbank, their relationship starts to develop. What starts out as a one-night stand quickly develops into much more as the characters are drawn more and more to each other.

London's parents are criminals. She hasn't heard from them for years, but all of a sudden she starts to receive envelopes full of mysterious photos of them and vague threats. She really doesn't want to know what her parents have gotten themselves into so, for the most part, she ignores the mysterious packages. At the same time, unknown to Marc, his family is getting similar packages. He doesn't know about London's packages and finds out too late about his family's packages.

That gets you to the second half of the book which is all about the suspense. The suspense story line in this is good if you can get past the believability of it all...I chose to. ;o) For this part of the story line, Marc and London are working apart which is good for London to learn just how tough she is, and this ultimately leads to her accepting her relationship with Marc. I will stop discussing the details there because I don't want to spoil anything about the story/suspense.

This was a good book. I really liked Marc & London, although I didn't like that neither one of them was upfront about who/what they are and what is happening, but that is the impetus for the story so I guess that I can forgive that. There were some minor issues with the book...some editing issues early where the book jumped within scenes that was a bit distracting. Also, I had a few personal issues with Marc at the end when he is re-united with London, but overall, I would definitely recommend it.

Marc works for the family business…King Fugitive Apprehension. Marc King has not had a vacation in a while. He deserves this break. Marc takes of for some rest and relaxation in Aspen, Colorado. Though, Marc is not really looking to hook up with anyone while on vacation, he can not help but notice the sexy, woman at the front desk, who checks him in.

London Brooke works at the Elk Ridge Lodge. London notices Marc but does not act on the attraction. Besides, London receives a package that distracts her. When London learns who Marc is, she turns to him for help. This is when things start to really heat up.

Get Lucky is the second Bounty Hunter novel. I thought Play Dirty was hot but Get Lucky is sizzling! Marc and London kept things nice and spicy. Enough to melt the snow. This book had a nice even balance between the main plot and the romance between the main characters. The location was a perfect setting for this story. Of course, I don’t say this just because I live in Colorado and Aspen is a few hours drive me where I live. Marc seemed like he fit in better to the mountains in Colorado than where he came from in California. I can not wait to read the next Bounty Hunter novel. If you want to “Get Lucky” and score big than pick up a copy of this book today. You won’t regret it.

A good solid continuation of the King family focusing on Marc King.

I really don't have many complaints about Get Lucky. I liked how there was more interactions between Marc and London than there was in Play Dirty. Although the mystery was still there, I didn't think it over took the story like it did in Play Dirty. There was only one time I was reminded of the heavy mystery plot, but luckily it didn't last forever. My silly complaint is wondering why there is a Dodge Challenger on the cover when Marc drove a Ford Mustang? Sometimes I don't think these cover designers even know what the book is about.

Marc takes off to Colorado for a vacation after the last case surrounding getting his mom back and this mysterious 'game' that they still haven’t figured out yet. Soon after checking into Elk Ski Lodge, he sets his sights on the beauty behind the counter.

He's got his work cut out for him, that’s for sure. London Brooke is one who knows how to keep her past a secret and keep other from getting too close to her. Her parents are perhaps the world’s best criminals and she's always trying to outrun the memory of her childhood living with them. Always knowing they never wanted to have children, never sure if they were going to come back for her and never knowing where her next bed or food was going to come from.

She puts off Marc's advances on her and meanwhile is worrying with the unease of finding envelopes addressed to her containing pictures of her parents and threatening notes she'll never see them again.

Marc meanwhile continues to work on her and is surprised by the intensity that he feels for London. He knows this isn't just a normal lust he's feeling. When they do finally get together is almost a no brainer these two are for each other.

But a call from Jake that their parents have gone missing sends him home without a goodbye.

Shifting modes, Marc, Jake and Natasha work at finding Greg and Haley. Worried the mysterious 'game' has once again set their sights on their parents they work against the clock, but soon their leads are almost gone.

It's when he calls London to try to repair what damage leaving unannounced did to their relationship, that he learns she's been getting the same packages that his family received. From there he rushes back to get her.

While all in their hotel room, men attack and London watches under the bed as Marc and an injured Jake are taken. Shooting a man with the gun Marc just gave her against his better judgment, she is able to avoid being taken.

No other option, she calls Natasha, whom she's been in contact with some prior to this. With everyone else taken, it’s up to these two to save them.

It takes them a few days to find the location and infiltrate it. During that time, Marc, after he and Jake attempt an unsuccessful try at getting away, is separated from his family and put into an experimental group.

Claude and Evelyn are married and against the other players in the game where each team collects a group they consider the best of the best. After training, they will all put their team against others and allow the best fighter to win. Evelyn’s new drug forces the recipient to obey with no question. Marc sees his chance with her when he spots tension between the couple and she allows him to stay drugged free.

At the first sign of Natasha’s and London’s attack, Evelyn takes Marc hostage and makes a run for it. She drugs him and when he awakes they are at a hotel.

During the raid, the women manage to take down all their attackers, but Natasha takes a bullet. Just beyond is the cell where she finds Marc’s parents, Jake and her parents. Freeing them, they make their way back to the car and must split up. Greg and Haley take Natasha to the hospital and she, her parents, and Jake stay to look for Marc.

It doesn’t take long though before its clear he isn’t there. They later meet back at the hotel, where they learn Natasha will be fine. She also gets a calmer moment to process meeting Marc’s parents who, though surprised Marc didn’t tell them about her, take to her immediately.

Back to Marc, he makes his escape as soon as he find the opportunity, but his injured are causes him to pull over on the highway and promptly passes out. Not long after, cops find him and take him to the hospital.

London is shocked when Marc hardly looks her way when she and his family show up to collect him. She worries his feelings have changed and what his parents will think.

When they finally get alone, Marc isn’t shy about voicing the love he feels for her. The separation from her was killing him and he wants her to love him too. Yet her past of no one staying with her, he parents had already taken off, keeps her scared to trust even though she sees the love in his eyes.

When it’s time to head home, he agrees to her wish of spending a week apart to separate their feelings.

It’s the week from hell for Marc. His brother eventually snaps at him for allowing the woman he loves to run from him. Its then that he tells him parents he’s moving to Colorado and catches a flight.

London, actually had the same type of week and promptly quit her job, told her landlord she was leaving and drove to LA. Just as she’s pulling into the King’s driveway, Marc calls her demanding to know where she is. She doesn’t realize at first that they’re at each other’s’ house but when she does, she burst out laughing. Hearing the noise, Greg King walks to the door, gets Haley and burst out laughing along with her.

Rushing back home, Marc finds London on the beach waiting for him. Their life together starts then with the love they are never going to deny each other.

Beyond being a ridiculous story... the grammar in this book was beyond atrocious. Definitely will not be reading anymore of this series.

A review for The Romance Reviews:

Five stars for great romance, sizzling sexual tension, a gripping and suspenseful plot, and characters you can't help but love. Yeah, GET LUCKY is a hit.

This is the second installment of The Bounty Hunters series by Lorie O'Clare and the fun starts immediately. You don't have to read book one to understand GET LUCKY, but I can let you know that I enjoyed this one even better than the first.

Marc King, a bounty hunter from L.A., goes to Aspen, Colorado to get away. When he checks in to his ski lodge, he's sees the most beautiful woman he's ever seen working at the check-in desk. What's more, she's quick-witted and very good at her job. Her name is London, and although he's not into relationships, he wouldn't mind having a bit of fling with her while he's on vacation.

London Brooke lives her life in a very ordered way. She works and goes home. Being the child of career criminals, she's worked hard to keep excitement and chaos out of her adult life. So when Marc King walks in, all big and sexy, she tries very hard to resist him. But Marc lives for the hunt, and right now he's hunting London. What he doesn't know is London is hiding secrets that ends up putting them both in danger. They've got to figure out who's behind the danger or risk losing each other forever.

This was a fantastic read. Fast-paced, great action, sizzling chemistry, and wonderful characters. It was drawn in from the beginning when Marc and London meet. She's giving him crap because all the girls are checking him out like the eye candy he is, and I immediately knew they were perfect for each other.

Marc and London compliment each other in every way. London is strong and independent but at the same time vulnerable because she's never really had anyone who's truly been there for her. I would have to say, she's my favorite character in the book. She's had to fight against all kinds of odds to carve a life out for herself, and she is determined to live it a certain way. But when the man she loves is in danger, she's willing to put all that aside and do what needs to be done to get her man.

Marc is the large man who screams sex appeal and danger but has a huge heart. And isn't it great watching those big hulking alphas fall hard? The sexual tension between the two of them was off the charts and quickly grew into something deeper.

The secondary characters were great too. Marc is a part of a family of bounty hunters, and his brother Jake is quite the trip. Also, his cousin Natasha, the computer guru, makes quite the appearance in this book and helps save the day. Marc's parents Haley and Greg (from the first book, Play Dirty) are also back.

The suspenseful plot made this book for me. There's a bit of a story in a story as Marc and his family are trying to solve the mystery of "The Game" that's being played out, and the Kings seem to be at the center of someone's strategy. But they don't know that London is also being involved, until it's a bit too late. Watching it unfold though made the book virtually impossible to put down.

The fantastic characters, an engrossing plot, blazing sexual chemistry, intermixed with a love story made GET LUCKY a definite winner for me. I know the story isn't over with the game, and I an on the edge of my seating waiting for more of that plot to be unveiled.

This is the sequel to Play Dirty and is Marc King and London Brooke's story. For the most part, I liked this book, though I was frustrated in that we don't really learn anything new regarding the infamous "Game" that is being played. In the previous book, the supposed mastermind behind it all is killed yet in book 2 it appears that the game is still being played in spite his death. While the "Game" appears to be an important plot point, we still know virtually nothing.

The main characters are well written and very likable and Marc and London’s relationship is believable. And while the ending was a bit corny, we do get our HEA. The next book is Jake’s story and because Jake has been depicted as a major “player” I look forward to meeting the woman who is able to change him. Maybe we’ll finally learn what exactly “The Game” is all about.

This book drove me nuts. First, the coincidences of their connections are too far-fetched. But living in Colorado, I just couldn't believe a desk clerk in Aspen could afford her own home, no matter how small. Plus you don't go for nature walks in January in the late afternoon/early evening and see anything - because it is dark. I really felt like the author knew little about the town in which the story was based, except what she got off Wikipedia. These annoyances led to me looking for problems in the rest of the book, like she has traveling companions staying across the hall from the female lead when she is staying at an Embassy Suites. Come on, everyone knows almost all of the rooms at an Embassy Suites don't have a room across the hall! This one left a bad taste in my mouth - blech!

Just started it out by the pool at the Place d'Armes here in the Big Easy...hard to read about a big snow storm while its 93F and super humid!

Just not great...not much more to say on that. I gave it away at the airport to a young university student...maybe she will like it more than I did (since it was free for her and all)...funny thing is, I wanted to love this book. Look at the cover, yummy!

The setting in Colorado was great (this student I gave it to was just starting in Denver this fall)...that said, I just didn't like her or him that much.

Odd thing when you aren't attached to the characters. I have read books that I have loved and loved only one of the leads...but when you don't like either of them it is really hard to care about there story.

i reserve the right to change the 3 star rating. i'm not saying i didn't like the book. i did. again, i was left with questions and it's bugging the shit out of me.

what happened to his cell phone that was left on the bed at the lodge - it happened so early on in the story.

what happened to james huxtable????

this is like the second time that a character has been introduced and then like the snap of my fingers he's just gone. never to be mentioned in the story again. it wouldn't bother me if i didn't feel there was a reason for him to be in the story in the first place.

what happened to all those other bounty hunters that were caught and doped up????

OK this second installment was much better. London and Marc's story caught my interest and held it. I'm still not thrilled with the pet names & endearments - they still sound a bit stilted. Calling the women "lady" and "darling" and "dear" just seems a bit stuffy, but other than that, much better pacing & less repetition.

This was just ok for me. I really struggled with getting into the story. Maybe it was the writing style , but honestly I'm not sure. This is the second book that I have read from this author and it was the same with the other book as well. I wont be continuing this series.

Actually had a lot of depth to this romance novel. It was reasonably interesting plot and reasonable reactions to the plot. I enjoyed it. The writing was pretty good. Not as witty or as humorous as I like, but good none the less
