I have not made any of the recipes of in this book yet, so my current review is based purely on the aesthetics and the perceived quality of the recipes as written. I may come back and update my review once I've cooked from the book, if I feel strongly one way or the another about it.
I do adore these retro themed cookbooks, and I own quite a few from the series (and have enjoyed the recipes I have made in them). There is just the right amount of kitsch in the design and naming of the recipes, and there are some fun 50s factoids sprinkled throughout. In terms of the recipes, there isa little of everything barbeque related in here. Marinades, rubs, sauces, salads, sides, desserts, and punches. I was also pleased with the amount and variety of meat recipes available, featuring offerings for pork, ribs, chicken, fish, hamburgers, steak and hot dogs. There are a few recipes I am keen to try, despite it not being BBQ weather here in the Northeast. It sure seems like a winner to me.
