Roxanne is a USA Today Bestselling, award-winning author of forty romantic suspense, mystery, and heart-warming, emotionally charged relationship novels in the clean & wholesome, as well as inspirational romance genres.

She got her first horse at the tender age of six and grew up riding bareback with wild abandon throughout her small Minnesota town year-round. It was like giving a child car keys!

She showed horses for many years, and later, she and her husband raised quarter horses and thoroughbreds until their kids came along.

She's living her childhood dream, living on an acreage in the country with her husband, three horses (all beloved elderly pasture ornaments, now), a golden retriever, a Mountain Cur rescue, and six fluffy barn cats. It's a much smaller menagerie than when their three kids were still at home!

Ranches, animals, and small-town life frequently find their way into her books.

I love the small-town feel given in this story. The characters are endearing and show a pleasant, adult way of handling their issues. It is more "inspirational" than "Christian," but overall was a sweet, enjoyable little romance, ending right at Christmastime.

Title: WINTER REUNION
Author: Roxanne Rustand
Publisher: Love Inspired
November 2010
ISBN: 978-0-373-87633-4
Genre: Inspirational/romance

Beth Carrigan has struggled to make a life of her own after her husband filed for divorce and marched off to serve with the military, unhampered by a wife. Now Beth runs a bookshop/coffee house, and all is good until she learns that her mother is planning to visit about the time that Dev is coming home on medical leave.

Then the lawyer calls, claiming Beth needs to be present for the reading of her ex-mother-in-law’s will. Just a formality… or is it? Suddenly, Beth is shocked to discover that she and Dev are forced to work together for six-months in order for Dev to inherit the family estate. And for her to own her bookstore, free and clear. If they refuse to work together, then the entire estate goes to a money-hungry uncle who already plans to raze the buildings and build condos.

Beth desperately wanted to keep her building, but Dev isn’t so sure about his portion—until he learns about the uncle. But after a messy divorce, is it even possible for Beth and Dev to make a cordial business relationship? Or is this an invitation for open warfare?

WINTER REUNION is Ms. Rustand’s first Love Inspired romance, but she is a romantic suspense writer with a huge fan base.

Beth is a realistic heroine, hurting and caring, and desperate to do what is right, even when it stretches her own schedule to the limits. Dev has devoted his life to the military, thwarting all his parents’ plans for him, determined to be his own person. The tension between them is high as neither want to bring up the past, but the past is something they must work through to achieve their goals. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book.

If this is the first time you’ve picked up a book by Ms. Rustand, you’re in for a treat. If you are already a fan of her suspense, check out WINTER REUNION. You won’t be disappointed. $5.50. 213 pages.

Roxanne Rustand is known for her Love Inspired Suspense novels and she is branching out into contemporary romance with her new book "Winter Reunion". She has accomplished this feat quite well - in a world that is overflowing with contemporary romance this book stood out to me because of all the things that made it unique. Most books are boy meets girl, boy gets girl. But what happens when it is boy had girl, boy lost girl, boy must now work with girl for 6 months or lose his inheiritance. They have to put other people first as they manage the home (kind of a half way house for those needing a helping hand) his mother had started. The beauty of this book was that it wasn't cliched. I was impressed with Roxanne's first foray into Christian contemporary romance and I look forward to the next books in this series and heading back to the quaint town she has established for her readers in Aspen Creek.

Winter Reunion started out as a pretty good story for me, with a couple of characters with an interesting history. I felt the characters were fairly believable, and the story was developing pretty well. But then it just ended. It was like the author just decided one day that she was tired of writing this story, so she just wrapped it all up and had the guy profess his undying love. Ta-da! And I have no idea what just happened. These two characters were thrown into a situation that was supposed to last six months. The story just ends. Badly. So, although I felt it was well on its way to 3.5 or 4 stars, the ending just killed it for me. The writing is solid, and the characters likable, but the storytelling was severely lacking.

I enjoyed this book it was a quick read. The characters were believable and a joy to get to know. The ending was sort of rushed on the relationship with Beth and Dev. But all in all a good read.

I was kind of disappointed with the ending of this book... It is like she decided she had enough pages and wrapped it up in a chapter when I didn't even think that main characters were even heading that way and part of the plot doesn't even get settled. So although I liked the book and I have read more in this series I was disappointed in the ending to this one. Won't stop me from picking up her next book though. :)

Winter Reunion is the first book of the Aspen Creek series. It’s a book of second chances in life and love. Devein is wounded in the Marines and comes home to Aspen Creek where his ex-wife, Beth, owns a book store. His parents are dead and the will is read. Why would his mother have his ex-wife in the will? Can they work together for 6 months to fulfill his mother’s wishes? I loved how the less fortunate become family to them.

This was a really sweet book! I love second chance marriage type stories and really enjoyed the imagery description of this small town and the book store. There were a lot of side stories on characters in this that were nice to read and some heartwarming lessons and wisdom.

The romance wasn't all that good and the ending was so dull. But I liked the characters personalities

I did not win this book on Good reads. This was a wonderful inspirational romance. Its about a young woman name Beth who was divorced with no indication and finding out she was pregnant did not tell her husband. Her husband (Devlin)was to involved and devoted to his military career. As she continues her life in Aspen Creek, he continues his career. With her being left heart-broken she starts a bookstore and becomes close friends with three other ladies who form a book club and they help her through all her bad times. When Devlin's mother passes away he has to come back for the reading of the will and settle the estate, to his surprise his ex-wife Beth must also be there for the reading of his mothers will. She has no idea why and neither does he. His mother states in her will that Devlin and Beth must work together at the home she established for people who need help in some way. When the work in the home they start to rekindle the feelings that they had for each other even though Beth won't let them surface. Will they be able to rekindle what they had? Will they be willing to give it a try again? Or will he return to his military career? Read the book to find out. This is an excellent romance story and at the very end you will find some spiritual inspiration from the author. Great job!

The story started fine. I was glad to stumble upon this as I have a soft spot for reunions. However, I felt there wasn't much focus on the REUNION .. i wasn't convinced Dev & Beth still had a thing for each other or if they had ever deviated from their relationship. . It didnt even feel like they have a lot of love to begin with. They failed to discuss how they were planning to rekindle their relationship and nothing much was mentioned about Beth's miscarriage after she shared the details with Dev. That was not ok! Well, not being able to conceive ever again is a real big thing for any women much more for a 32 yo! Surely it warrant more conversations around it? The ending was ridiculously abrupt and terribly annoying! i would rather the author focus on a few things rather than writing so much about way too many others into a single book ..

There is so much covered in this story. The hardships a soldier endures and problems adjusting to returning home. Dee is injured and cannot return to the military. His Mother's will leaves him surprised.
Yet because of it he finds healing and love again with his ex-wife. He makes friends and finds a family support group among the most unlikely people.
Devlin and Beth find healing in their lives. There isn't a one of us who doesn't need healing of some kind. I needed healing due to hurts I was enduring and this book was such an encouragement. It was difficult to put down.

Exes Devin and Beth are forced to work together for 6 months according to Devin's mother's will. Injured marine Devin moves back to his hometown and his old house is full of boarders that his mother had harbored and need help. Will the exes be able to work together to fulfill his mother's will or will hurt feelings get in the way and ruin their plans to earn the property they need.
I wasn't quite sure where Maura's story fit in and thought there was a villain to the story with the hit and run, although it was still a good story.

Wonderful story. I liked the whole concept about a military man who didn't know how to get past all that he had seen and done and felt himself unable to live in the "real" world, outside of the military. Beth and Dev's story was one of relearning and growing, "opening new doors", "seeking new horizons".

This is a series "Aspen Creek Crossroads", so now I'll have to look for the next story.

Military man, Devlin Sloane back to Aspen Creek for the reading of his mother's will, gets an unexpected surprise. Beth, his ex-wife and bookstore owner, must work with him for six months at a half way house. Good character development, but the story just ended.
