I won this book at an auction - such an English teacher thing to say. I have never read Dracula of Transylvania, but I love Stoker's Dracula with such passion that I figured this would be very interesting. Dracula of Transylvania is Delgado's retelling of the original tale. In his quest to see his work published, he found that creating his own artwork - inspired by his love of and work on movies - might help him to get noticed by publishers. It definitely helped and this companion piece to his novel traces his vision and creation of the monsters and settings of his novel. I really enjoyed seeing how he conceptualized his world and the unifying themes he worked into his images. The drawings are truly terrifying and his discussions of his craft are engrossing.

This was a fascinating collection of vampire artwork and writings that, while not entirely to my taste, was totally worth reading. I believe having it on kindle made it even better as I could really explore each picture thoroughly. The artist has had an extensive and varied career and has worked on some amazing movies and shows. If you are a fan of vampires and their lore you might just enjoy this collection. Not for the faint of heart.
