This is also why we feel a bit lost after Shabbos is over. That is the curtain closing. Rabbi Kluger says that the neshamah yeseirah (the extra soul that is said to be given to us on Shabbos) is not really an extra soul at all. It is the curtain between our body and soul being pulled back so that so that we can feel more of our soul. When Havdalah comes, this curtain is closed and we feel the loss of spirituality. – Page 107

I have a deep-rooted faith that whatever happens to me is the best that can happen. I truly and honestly believe that nothing that happened to me was bad for me. It might feel bad, seem bad, and be experienced in a bad way. But there is not one thing in this world that happens out of coincidence, out of spite, or out of punishment. G-d is Good, and G-d is G-d: Every little thing that happens to me in my life is there to help me in some way. And I truly believe that the Master of the entire universe loves me. Can you believe that? He loves me! And you! This amazing, all-capable G-d loves me and you!

I know this because when I was in that hospital bed, falling into an abyss, knowing I was going to die, I felt it. I felt His presence, His complete acceptance and love for me, and I wanted nothing more than to lean on it. I woke up and remembered that feeling of security.

So today, when a loved one passes away from a terrible illness plaguing the world, or when so many die in soulless terror attacks, I remember that security. I admit that I do not understand it. I admit that I pray that G-d finds an easier way. I know, in my heart of hearts, that even if I hate it, it is for our good. Because He loves us.
So, say thank you. – Page 134

My father talked about this when he opened his publishing company. The company is called Mosaica, alluding to a mosaic of the broken Luchos. My father explained that it is our job throughout the generations to find those little shattered fragments of the Luchos, bring them to light, and fit them back together. In his way, he is doing that by publishing books that bring light from all over. But we can each do this in our own way by finding the sparks, the broken pieces, and bringing them back together. – Page 149

What is a good rabbi?

Someone who is able to see the worth of the person in front of him. His job is to bridge the gap – honestly and without an ax to grind – between the emotional needs of the human who is asking and the intellectual value system ascribed by the Torah. This way he can help the person asking the question to find their individual answer with sensitivity to the person’s pain and a fair evaluation of what the person is capable of. All delivered with patience and love. – Page 154

I wanted there to be more to it. But I guess that is kind of the point.
