Lethal Justice

Rate this book
Kelly Adams' husband is killed near Northwestern University in a murder that appears to have no motive. Police suspect a high-dollar hired gun from Europe, but are unable to make any local connection. After her best friend is attacked by an intruder who obviously believes Kelly is his victim, she begins her own investigation. The trail leads twenty-nine years into the past when John Adams' mother bore an illegitimate son fathered by Chicago's wealthiest and most powerful mob boss, Gino Scarletti. Later, Scarletti fathered another son within his marriage. On his deathbed, Scarletti wills half his empire to his legitimate son and half to the son who never knew his father. But Gino Jr. is not willing to share his inheritance with anyone, and arranges his half-brother's murder, unaware that John Adams has recently married and made a will stating that his wife will become his legal heir upon his death. Gino Jr. is finally arrested but released on bond by a mob-linked judge. Kelly Adams arranges her own form of justice and takes control of the powerful Scarletti empire.
