The global war on terror has reached catastrophic proportions, leading the U.S. Special Operations EOD team–Task Force Valor–to Chernobyl, where ghosts of past disasters are nothing compared to the nuclear nightmare about to unfold. With CIA Agent Mary “Phoenix” Walker heading her first Special Ops mission and Master Sergeant Bobby Sweeney fighting demons on and off the battlefield, Task Force Valor races to stop a terrorist threat in the Ukraine before Europe is turned into a radioactive wasteland. But when the terror reaches American shores, the team is powerless to help until they can save themselves. And when they finally track down the source of the chaos, what they find is worse than anything they could have imagined.

I'd say that Chuck is one of my new favorite authors and that I commit to read all his books...but he's not writing any more fiction (at least, no plans at the present time). I am duly disappointed and pouting. Chuck's a BTDT guy, so he brings a credibility to his writing that I savored throughout the story.

#3 Task Force Valor

The team head off to Ukraine to track the source of the ITEB.

The problem? It's in the middle of the dead zone from the Chenobyl disaster.

The plan? Go in, find the source, get out.

Simple.

Except, yet again, nothing goes to plan!

And to make matters worse, danger has also now landed on the home front.

This was a good wrap-up to the series, and I have enjoyed getting to know the Task Force Valor team. I was a bit disappointed we didn't get the whole team this time, but the top 4 that went to Ukraine did make the story interesting in its own right.

I did find the facts on Ukraine's dead zone fascinating, and it made for an ideal setting for this story. I was surprised to learn that some people have moved back there and the vegetation is growing. I assumed it to all be black wasteland.

I really did not appreciate the blasphemy that appeared in this story.

A series that really does need to be read in order as the plot starts in #1 and develops throughout the 3 books. My favourite was #1.

#1 Allah's Fire (Task Force Valor Series, #1) by Gayle Roper #2 Island Inferno (Task Force Valor Series, #2) by Chuck Holton #3 Meltdown (Task Force Valor Series #3) by Chuck Holton

Excellent conclusion to a top notch series. Written by real life Army Ranger Chuck Holton, the entire Task Force Valor trilogy is strengthened by the author's firsthand knowledge of the places he has been as well as the methods and mannerisms of our U. S. military. In the story, enemies of the United States are trying to use an oderless liquid explosive to bring our country to its knees. It is up to a special team to figure out who these people are and how to stop their plans. As you may have guessed, that is an oversimplification - the book offers much more for the reader. Check these out; you may find yourselves surprised. The books in the series are as such: #1 ALLAH'S FIRE, #2 ISLAND INFERNO, and #3 MELTDOWN.

It was a well-written adventure. It isn't necessarily poignant, but it is fast paced and entertaining with enjoyable characters.

Meltdown by Chuck Holton is the third book in the Task Force Valor series. CIA Agent Mary Walker is heading up her first Spec Ops mission with team members Bobby Sweeney, John Cooper, and Rip Rubio in the Ukraine in the hopes of finding the source of a deadly weapon. While they are undercover, all across America, strikes are made using just that weapon bring the economy and communication to a halt and panicking the entire nation. This was my first read of the Task Force Valor series, but I'm sure it won't be my last! With the action of a James Bond movie and the exciting military story of NCIS, I couldn't put this book down! Holton takes care to keep Christian themes to a minimum, making sure that readers don't feel preached to. There are several plot threads, and he juggles them all with ease, making each character come to life, even those only on the canvas for a few paragraphs. The ending is a terrific twist with a frightening message. A special bonus at the end of the book is Holton's Easter Eggs which will give the reader a whole new appreciation for the series.

Meltdown was a really fun read. The characters from the first two books in the series are all here, with a deeper look at Sgt Bobby Sweeney. Their Army Ranger/CIA mission into Europe was fast-paced, well thought out and enjoyable. I hope there's more to come from Task Force Valor!!

This is the final in a three book series. I enjoyed getting to know some of the characters in the Task Force Valor team. However, I was left feeling that there is still a lot more to discover about the 'hero' of this book. Could there be more to come?
