Takes young readers on an informative tour of an actual ballet studio where the students go through the process of learning the five positions, practicing their jumps and leaps, and rehearsing for their important recital.
My daughter loves it: she practices the five positions and basic dance techniques presented in the book. Lovely photos, and easily understandable information. This book is a great introduction to ballet, and will surely motivate children to attend a ballet class.
The photos are beautiful. But as a ballet student myself (in fact both of my daughters and I ALL take ballet classes) I can't help but roll my eyes when right next to text explaining that "ballet steps have French names" is a caption showing students doing a releve and instead saying "this is called a rise. Huh?
