On the way home from church, many parents might ask their children, "What did you get out of the service today?" But a closer study of biblical worship reveals that a better question might be, "What did God get out of your worship today?" Many churches provide variety in worship, offering traditional worship at one service and contemporary worship at another. The clear implication is that worship style is simply a matter of personal preferencethat worship style does not matter to God. But does God agree? In The Glory Due His Name, Gary Reimers explores what God expects in worship. Reimers draws parallels between wrong forms of ancient worship and dangerous trends in modern services. He also shows how worship services can continue to give God the kind of worship He demands. This study of the doctrine of public worship is essential for all who desire to worship their God in spirit and in truth.
For the subject of corporate worship in the local church, I thought this book was outstanding. The issue of worship in the life of the believer is very comprehensive in scope, and to deal with this issue of worship succinctly but thoroughly in the scope of local church ministry is not easily done. I appreciate Dr. Reimers' exposition of the Scriptures that cover the key aspects of corporate worship in this study. I highly recommend this one!
Tremendous book on worship. Takes a Biblical approach to determining what true worship is, how to implement it in church services and how to spot deviant worship. Very good, must read for every Christian!
