Written by three internationally respected women healers, authors, and holistic health pioneers, Rituals of Healing is the first book to integrate a traditional approach to medicine with complementary mind-body techniques for healing and maintaining wellness.
The only reason I'm not giving this book 5 stars is because it is now 30 years old. While every chapter makes useful and valid points about how, when and why to use imagery for health and well-being, we know so much more now about the neuroscience piece than we did back when it was originally published. And, still it is a worthy and valuable addition to any health or allied health professional's personal library.
In 1994, this is still cutting edge - and quite controversial - among health care providers. Today, it's pretty much a given that ritual, imagery, attitude, and mindset not only inform and affect quality of life and quality of death processes and experiences but can also exacerbate or even reverse many symptoms. Likewise, today we also understand the interplay of neuroscience and spirituality, physiology and psychology.
This book does a beautiful job of providing practical steps that both the professional and the patient (and patient's family) can take to alleviate, mitigate and / or prevent suffering. Highly recommend it for your list of resources.
