About the author

Swami Tapasyananda (1904-1991) was a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Mission. He was a disciple of Swami Shivananda, one of the eminent disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. The Swami was a vice-president of the Ramakrishna Order from 1985-1991. He has to his credit many books in English, including the translations of many scriptures. He was the president of Ramakrishna Math, Chennai from 1971-1991. He was a prolific writer. He translated many Hindu classics into English from original Sanskrit.

Short and raw skeleton of Swami's life. I would have preferred to read a more elaborate version. I felt that this particular version was obliged to shortened content and hence had to cut down the mental context of Swami to stick to more of a wikipedia sort coverage of Swamis life.
However the book managed to provide first-hand information regarding all major milestones in Swamiji's life.

I wanted to read a book on Swami Vivekananda's life and there were many, big ones mostly. But this one, was a short one, well written and covers mostly all the important events and thr teachings of the Swami's life.
