High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Artemis Fowl is a series of novels written by Eoin Colfer, starring a teenage criminal mastermind named Artemis Fowl II. Artemis Fowl, the main character, is a ruthless and extremely intelligent young (human) criminal whose main goal is the acquisition of money through a variety of often illegal schemes. There are many settings in the series, including Siberia, Chicago, Taiwan, Morocco, France and various places in Ireland. One main setting that has been in all the books is the Lower Elements. The author has described the series as "Die Hard with fairies." There are six novels in the series so far; the first was published in 2001 and the sixth released in the United States on 15 July 2008. A film based on the series is also in development, although most details are unclear. The series has sold over 18 million copies as of June 2008.
The plot was interesting, but I didn't find very many of the characters sympathetic. I started reading it to my boys but they tired of it. I wanted to know how it would end, so I finished reading it. Ultimately, I was disappointed in the ending and the book in general. I don't plan to read any more of the books in the series.
I gave it up. It didn't interest me in the first 25 pages. This isn't a negative for the book, it just wasn't where my vibration was at the time. I could pick it up later and find it enchanting.
I enjoyed the series overall, even though I almost didn't make it past the first book! After reading the first book, I was so disgusted with the main character's conceited personality that I did not want to continue reading. It was my mom that convinced me to continue. And, I must say, I'm glad she did.
I thoroughly enjoyed the title character's transformation from the first book to the last. I love that Artemis becomes a character you're rooting for. In each book, we get to learn more about him, and I think, a little more about ourselves. (Would I have done that?)
My biggest critique is that I would've liked a little more consistency in the overall arc of the story. I get that the big picture is his transformation, but I would like each of the stories to blend better together. For example, I felt like The Opal Deception was completely stand alone. Almost too stand alone for the middle book of a series. Just a thought.
please do not read this article if you like artemis fowl.this book is simply way too discriptive and it looks like some body has copy-pasted a wikepedia article on a book.let alone all the feelings etc etc the characters just dont fit in with the story like a fairy female officer.the main charcter artemis is a mess and all the people who liked this book have found a hook which is very rare, anyways i gave this book 1 star because i know even though this book had a rare hook the author made the story interesting and good.anyways this book should have gotten zero
Great series. It's written in such a way, where it *could* be happening right now. All the things are explained, it's not like many other childrens books where magic is some sort of godly power able to do anything and grant you your wishes. Here, magic is just another tool, limited like any other tool we've got. Technological advancement is the key point of the books. If I'm beeing honest, I do sure hope the ferrys exist, because if we get technology like the ferry tech we're in for a rough ride.
Unlike a lot of book series', this one doesn't degrade in quality over time but instead gets better.
I loved the last book just as much as I adored the first book, with the witty dialogue from the main mastermind both amusing and intriguing, and the general plot of the books themselves is out of this world.
I would recommend this series to any reader, seasoned or a newbie.
The Artemis Fowl series is perhaps one of the best fantasy books that I have read. Eoin Colfer's imagination lead him in the creation of an epic tale unlike any other. From the heart-pounding beginning of the Artemis Fowl to the tragically beautiful Last Guardian. The characters are well-defined and their respective plots always offer something fresh.
This are a great collection of books, mostly for youngsters. The story is amazing and Artemis is a bow that you would never believe how capable and determined he is. I'm still wondering why there aren't any movies about these books.
I recently read the Artemis Fowl series, and found them to be a simple and fun read. Each book took about a day to finish, and were filled with fun concepts and good humor. Id recommend these to younger readers. :)
