Joseph Smith: Impressions of a Prophet

Rate this book
Acclaimed artist Liz Lemon Swindle presents the paintings and drawings from her traveling exhibit 'Joseph Impressions of a Prophet' in this exquisite new volume with accompanying text by Susan Easton Black. The pieces are based on the life of Joseph Smith and not only deal with familiar events but also depict the Prophet and his personality as a father, husband, son, and friend. More than thirty beautiful, realistic paintings and sketches are included in this large-format, full-color book. Black adds historical text, drawing from journals, history, scriptures, and other works about the Prophet to chronicle his life from birth to the Martyrdom. (11 1/2' x 10 3/4', 108 pages)

How happy to feel what I've longed for, to sit at the feet of Susan Easton Black again, a friend of the prophet, and hear her count the life of the prophet. Perfection. And accompanied with moving and personal art that also taught of him. Beautiful! Perfection.

I love Liz Lemon Swindle's art. Of course, no one can tell a story like Susan Easton Black. So, with two great women working together, the result a beautiful book. It was fun to look at beautiful pictures, while reading about Joseph Smith and his family. I may read it again this year.

I read this book mainly to gather information about Emma - an excellent source with great pictures. Would make a wonderful addition to a church history library.
